does anyone with any smarts actually listen to Rush Limburger? This man does nothing but Rant and Rave. His lies, his lies have been proven and basically the Republicans stick to their Motto. "don't confuse me with the facts, my mind is made up"

Rush Limbaugh is an entertainer-- nothing else. It doesn't matter if republicans listen to him or not, that speaks more to their choice of entertainment and how serious they are on political matters. One need only pick up a book by Rush and realize that this guy is a goof ball.

  7. Andres Saenz(Albuquerque, NM)

Well, I voted for the Republicans during this past 2008 Presidential election. This was the very first time I've ever been involved in a national election because I became a US citizen last year. But I do not listen to Rush Limbaugh, even though I do listen to Bill O'Reilly and Hannity & Colmes every now and then. I do my own research to get the facts about any political figure to confirm the claims of those 3 political analysts.

Adults should stop listening to Rush Limbaugh. His intellectual dishonesty is matched only by his apparent intellectual disability. The man is an overgrown adolescent know-it-all who uses words he doesn't fully understand and frames his opinions outside the context of reality.

  9. Robert From Canada

Really? Is this a question? Of course! Everyone should stop listening to Rush Limbaugh!

  10. karen-phoenix

Yes!!!! Yes and more YES!!!! I have been a republican for over 40 years but this year it was Obama all the way and people like Rush have been a BIG part of why I no longer vote republican!!! Palin was the nail in the coffin!!!

    December 12, 2008 at 1:14 pm |
  11. David in San Diego

Of course not. The tighter they draw the circle of information and discussion, the more likely they are to miss the changes taking place in the American electorate. Those of us who hope for the Elephant's demise hope that they move farther and farther to the right (= the "wrong") and marginalize themselves.

  12. Shawna

Everyone should stop listening to this moron!! Why is he still on the air? There are so many "intelligent" persons to listen to these days and he is still running his mouth? I'd rather listen to Howard Stern and anyone who knows me knows how much I hate that man!!

  13. Steve -Dublin, OH

Blind party bias is proudly, and overtly, vocallized by every senator, congressman and representative in the US political system. I sometimes feel the need to stop listening to them as well. My eyes grow weary of rolling every time they speak.

  15. Kel in Auburn, AL

Hello? EVERYONE should stop listening to Rush Limbaugh. I wonder if he's still on the air because people actually take what this man says to heart, or if people are so appalled by his beliefs that they use him for comic relief.

    December 12, 2008 at 1:26 pm |
  16. LUCY - ILLINOIS

Are you kidding that would be like asking them to become a Democrat. The Republicans feed off of Rush like sharks do to Chum. Rush is like the Pied Piper leading the Rats. Bad influence.

    December 12, 2008 at 1:29 pm |
  19. Katiec Pekin, IL

    Jack
That's like asking a smoker to not have another cigrette. The people who listen to that idiot do not want to think for theirselves and hear anything they can against the Democratic party regardless of facts.
To us who have brains, he is ridiculous. But, as you could see with the Palin rallies, there are alot of radicals out there.

    December 12, 2008 at 1:33 pm |
  20. Venia

Ah yes with a big bold YES. Rush typifies the worst of the republican party and its ideals. He appeals to its racist, negative, narrow minded and fanatical base. Rush is like the sewer rat that tries to get all the other rats to join him. There are some very good republican people out there with open minds, high ideals and great morals who wouldn't be caught dead listening to that clown. Conservative doesn't have to be ugly yet he makes it so.

    December 12, 2008 at 1:33 pm |
  21. John in Arizona

The only ones who should pay any attention to what Rush has to say are the late-night comedians.

    December 12, 2008 at 1:34 pm |
  22. Kevin in Dallas, TX

I don't care if they listen to his show or not, just so long as they think for themselves. That goes for Democrats too.

  26. Steve in Milford,MA

In my opinion, EVERYONE should stop listening to Rush Limbaugh. Didn't Al Franken write a book called "Rush Limbaugh is a Big Fat Idiot"? Have truer words ever been written? The guy is mean spirited and misguided. And those are his good qualities.

    December 12, 2008 at 1:46 pm |
  27. Bruce faubel

Yes but many will not. He spreads hate but there are many that hate so they need a champion also. Rush is the best friend the Dems. can have.

    December 12, 2008 at 1:49 pm |
  28. Nuria

Why were they listening to him in the first place? Seriously, does this guy have pictures of Republicans in compromising positions with farm animals?

    December 12, 2008 at 1:50 pm |
  29. Mike V., Tennessee

Other than Rush being an idiot why should the GOP listen to an unqualified blowhard. He makes 38 million a year to infuse his extreme rightwing crap!!!!!! They should listen to common sense!!!

    December 12, 2008 at 1:51 pm |
  30. Winton from Alaska

Republicans must continue listening to Rush Limbaugh if they want to become a party of inclusion rather than the rant of exclusion that Limbaugh spouts. Limbaugh's voice is just as much a part of the Republican party as is Colin Powell's. They have to continue listening to Limbaugh to realize how narrow-minded they became.

    December 12, 2008 at 1:51 pm |
  31. Bill, Quarryville, Pennsylvania

Listing to Rush Limbaugh is definitely a bad idea for a party who just took one of biggest beatings in their history. Limbaugh did not support Mccain until he picked Palin as his running mate, another religious right fanatic that helped lead then to defeat. If they want to win another election they need to move just a little more to the left, where they will still be conservative and more to the mainstream thinking of the American voter.

    December 12, 2008 at 1:52 pm |
  32. Rowena NC

Rush is an idiot. But, if that's what you like...knock yourselves out.

    December 12, 2008 at 1:54 pm |
  33. Jan from NW Iowa

Mr. Limbaugh just likes to stir up trouble. I think alot of what he says he does to rile up the two parties against each other. Yes Republicans should stop listening to such a negative person. Will they? I doubt it. Mr. Limbaugh just signed a multi-million dollar contract for several years.

    December 12, 2008 at 1:55 pm |
  34. D. R. Texas

I don't care. I think we still have freedom of speech unless OUR GOV. has out lawed it !!!!!!!!!!!!!

    December 12, 2008 at 1:56 pm |
  35. Paulette,Dallas,PA

Definitely. Rush Limbaugh is out of touch and needs to retire. He's dated and needs to be replaced with a 21st century Republican talk show host.

    December 12, 2008 at 1:58 pm |
  36. Tom, Bradenton

Republicans have to define themselves and not listen to an idiot like Limbaugh.

    December 12, 2008 at 1:58 pm |
  37. J.D. in NH

Sure. Rush is the sanest of the bunch and it keeps them from dwelling on Obama's "natural born citizenship" and other equally ridiculous notions.

    December 12, 2008 at 1:59 pm |
  38. John in Memphis

    Yes.

    December 12, 2008 at 1:59 pm |
  39. Tom, Avon, Me, The Heart of Democracy

    Please, Jack

I know a lot of very good decent honorable people who happen to be Republican. Let's not tar everybody with the same moron.

    December 12, 2008 at 2:04 pm |
  40. Raymond Duke

Heck no, they should have been listening more and following his ideas and we would not be facing a liberal congress and a socialist as a president.

    December 12, 2008 at 2:04 pm |
  41. AJ from Austin Tx

I don't think so, Jack. Rush is one of the few voices that we Republicans can turn to to filter out the liberal spin we get from the rest of the media. He's America's REAL anchor man.

    December 12, 2008 at 2:08 pm |
  42. Judy, Exeter, Calif,

Yes they should. Limbaugh and the likes of him ( Hannity, Coulter and friends) are radicals who have found an audience of fringe people. They have a lot of nerve calling themselves conservatives. I see them as being little different than some of the radical religious groups around the world. The true conservatives have left the building.

    December 12, 2008 at 2:08 pm |
  43. South Philly

    Jack:

Not only should they stop listening to Rush, they should also stop listening to Hannity also. These guys spew so much hate & venom that it would be impossible for there to be a bipartisanship or any kind of partnership amongst the people in this country. I just pray that the people truly don't listen to these clowns.

    December 12, 2008 at 2:09 pm |
  44. Diane/Allentown PA

EVERYONE should stop listening to Rush Limbaugh.

    He needs to go away.................

    December 12, 2008 at 2:11 pm |
  45. Daniel from Costa Rica

YES!, because most republicans like most democrats identify with the center more than the margins of their party´s ideology. There are plenty from both parties that welcome spirited debate of ideas and reject demonizing those who have different points of view. Mr Rush Limbaugh offers little more than a rush of emoition, emotions that divide us at a time when the country is trying to be more mature and realistic.

    December 12, 2008 at 2:12 pm |
  46. Zach Tannery - Jackson, WY

NO WAY! Not only should the Republicans keep listening to him, they should keep reguritating his comments like all good ditto heads do. The more his comments are repeated, the more ridiculous they sound. And the more ridiculous the Republican sound, the better it is for the Democratic party. At the rate Rush Limbaugh and his ilk are going, there will be no Republican party left come 2016.

    December 12, 2008 at 2:12 pm |
  47. Terry from North Carolina

    Jack
This is a question thats easily answered. Everyone should stop listening to Rush Limbaugh.

    December 12, 2008 at 2:14 pm |
  48. Roger from Espanola, New Mexico

Are you kidding? Everyone should stop listening to Rush Limbaugh.

    December 12, 2008 at 2:14 pm |
  49. Janis, Lafayette, IN

If they stop listening, Rush is out of a job!

    December 12, 2008 at 2:18 pm |
  50. Kerry Diehl

What a question! ....Last I heard, it's still a free country! I listen to whoever I want – why shouldn't they?

In my opinion, Rush Limbaugh certainly is more worth listening to than Keith Olberman – and comparing the number of listeners to each of them proves it.

Obviously, Rush is more credible than Keith to them as well.

    December 12, 2008 at 2:19 pm |
  51. Ed from White Plains, NY

No. Where else will they get their entertainment? Tuning into Howard Stern?

    December 12, 2008 at 2:22 pm |
  52. Kris

They should never have started listening to Rush Limbaugh.

    December 12, 2008 at 2:30 pm |
  53. Rose in Az

Why should they. Just because Colin Powell said they should?? I don't think Colin Powell has any right to tell people what they should and should not listen to.

    December 12, 2008 at 2:32 pm |
  54. Bill Davis

Everybody should stop listening to Rush Limbaugh. He's old news. He's made-up news. He's partisan news. He's on the wrong side of almost every issue, a bigot, a liar, and a junkie.

I haven't even gotten to the bad stuff yet...

no one should listen to Mr. Limbaugh....

    December 12, 2008 at 2:40 pm |
  57. Mary from Houston, tx

I was only subjected to Limbaugh once when I was in someone else's car, and that ride was difficult.
He spewed so much venom, I had to take a shower when I got home.
So, yes everyone should stop listening to that man, we'd all be better off.

    December 12, 2008 at 2:41 pm |
  58. Larry in Florida

    Why not? everyone else has.

    December 12, 2008 at 2:41 pm |
  59. Jay-San Antonio

What is your first clue? He is a radio personality; not an informed educated, trained opinion. He is no real professional. Just a radio personality with a point of view. ignore him, his ratings fall, and he goes away.

    December 12, 2008 at 2:44 pm |

A PS: I started listening to Tom Hartman on Air America about a year ago. The man is highly intellegent and has written many books. Very informed on Thomas Jefferson and our constitution!!!!

  63. arilion (from NY)

    Yes, I'm done!

    December 12, 2008 at 2:55 pm |
  64. Stan

The problem is not that people listen to Rush, or for that matter, Bill O'Reilly, Keith Olberman, Lou Dobbs, Maureen Dawd, or Ann Coulter. The problem is that they don't understand that these people are entertainers, and not journalists.

    December 12, 2008 at 3:03 pm |
  65. Jay in Atlanta

I would answer a definitive YES if I thought Republicans listened at ALL.

    December 12, 2008 at 3:03 pm |

I didn't know that anyone listened to him at all, much less take his rants seriously.

If they want to stop being distracted by misplaced hatred and hyped up stories that turn there attention from our Countries REAL issues.....

  70. Ryan, Galesburg, IL

I never thought of sociopathy as good entertainment, but he does get paid a lot of money for inciting hate and fear. Basically, I just feel bad for those who listen to the man. Even after just a few minutes of him, I always feel dizzy and a little nauseated.

    December 12, 2008 at 3:14 pm |

If the repubs consider Rush a model Republican, then it's goodby for many more years for a republican president. Personally, I think he is obnoxious!!

No. Go ahead and listen to him. And follow his advice. Look how successful the Repugs were in the recent election.
(I always try to get my political perspective from obese, drug addled pedophiles.) That should give the Democrats at least a couple of decades in control to straighten this mess out!

Of course absoluetly.Out of touch just wants to whine for whine's sake.
Our Republicans have NO REAL leaders and also are out of touch and they are so far O U T that they think Palin is the answer. Now how

Yes! Absolutely! I'm a liberal republican and have never been able to stand the man. He is too divisive for me. But then I don't watch Fox News and I am not a fan of Bill O'Rielly,Hannity, Newt Gingrich or any other favorites of the conservative right. However, I was very fond of William F. Buckley.

  85. Paula in Albuquerque

No, indeed. They "stand for nothing" beneficial to the nation, and he "talks of nothing" beneficial to the nation. Limbaugh is a drug-addled, megalomaniacal, fatty...who NEVER tires of his own voice...no matter what it is saying. He seldom, if ever, has guests, because he is far too insecure to share the spotlight with anyone else. Who with an IQ higher than one in the double-digits, would find credence in anything that he has to say? He should always have a "platform", because, especially in these ugly and dismal times...the country can use as much "comedy relief" as it can get! Laughter is "healing", and Limbaugh has been a "joke", for quite a while...

  90. Jeanne Slinker

I think it is frightening how this man uses his influence to create such divisiveness, fear, and hatred, in this country. I believe that is anyone is telling you that the "other" side is always wrong and out to get you, you need to find another source of information. This man just renewed his contract for some $38 millions dollars and yet he bashes Wall Street executives for their salaries. It is foolish and dangerous that people fall for this man's lies.

    Jack,
Have you started a new career as a comedian? Absolutely nothing

Absolutely; I actually listened to him many years ago & thought he was funny though I didn't agree with his views; I don't remember him being so mean and intolerant as he is today. Colin Powell is certainly right about this. Though I'm a strong Obama supporter, I continue to listen and/or watch some conservative commentators just to see what's going on in their "world":)

First and foremost they need to show some judgment and coherent thinking by get as far away as they can from listening to loud mouths like Rush Limbaugh and Sarah Palin.... Two of the most obnoxious people I've ever come across.... I get more dumber every time I hear either one them speak....

Why anyone is still listening to him is beyond me. I can't believe that he got a huge contract to spew hate over the airways. I think the Listening public has become tired of this type of speech, or at least I hope so.
