President-elect Obama campaigned on promises to fix the ailing health care system.
An estimated 47 million Americans have no health insurance. And you don't have to look far to find those who do have coverage complaining about it.
But a new Gallup poll finds that Americans are sending mixed signals when it comes to health care.

Forty nine percent of those surveyed said leave the system as it is. Only 41 percent said they want a new government-run system.
There's more confusion. The poll found 59 percent say the current system has major problems. Access and cost are cited as the biggest concerns.
But at the same time, 57 percent say their health care is excellent or good.
On the heels of a campaign promising change, health care included, most people, according to this poll, are really okay with what they have.
Here’s my question to you: What does it mean when almost half of Americans want to leave the health care system as it is?

It means that 50% of the people have no idea what Obama's health care plan is about and are just plain scared that they will have to wait in line at a public clinic to see a doctor they have never seen or heard of. They are also scared that their taxes will go up to pay for those that currently don't have insurance.

Honestly, as a German American, I can say that I could not afford to pay $130 for a doctor's visit since I had no health insurance, when I lived in Florida. Now I live in Germany, and since I am poor, I have to pay only 10 euros every three months to see my doc as many times as I want. If Americans are willing to keep that poor health care system, please do! If not reconsider, seriously!

Its simple, Jack. The half that don't want to change the system have adequate coverage. They don't care all that much about the half that don't. Changes, after all, could affect either their own coverage or their taxes. What a shame; where is America's heart?

People that think the health care system is ok as it is I am quessing have never really had to use it. My wife has a serious lung condition and even though we have had insurance the whole time we still owe about 30,000 dollars in bills the insurance companies find excuses to deny coverage for.
