FROM CNN's Jack Cafferty:

Unemployment could be headed back up to 9% again - not what President Obama wants to hear as he faces re-election.

Gallup reports that the unemployment rate in mid-February stood at 9% - up from 8.3% in mid-January.

Gallup's monthly report serves as a preliminary estimate of what the U.S. government will report next week.

The report also found 10% of U.S. employees are working part-time, but want full-time work.

And they put underemployment at 19% - up significantly from just a month ago.

While the Obama administration was quick to trumpet a lower unemployment rate of 8.3% in January, others were already warning about a gloomy jobless picture.

The congressional budget office predicted last fall that unemployment would remain close to 9% until the end of 2012, and now they say unemployment will stay above 8% well into 2014.

Meanwhile there are other signs that the economy is not out of the woods by a long shot.

Gas prices are already at their highest levels ever for this time of year - and they're headed higher. In Florida, some drivers are already paying almost $6 a gallon.

Government job cuts could place a further damper on the economy with the government being the largest employer in the country.

Lastly, while manufacturing revs up and stocks rally, just remember this:

It only takes one shock to set the economy back. Last year we had lots - from the Arab spring revolutions to Japan's earthquake and Europe's debt crisis.

Can you say Iran?

Here’s my question to you: Can President Obama win re-election if unemployment goes back up to 9%?

Interested to know which ones made it on air?

Becky in Las Vegas:
Sure he can win, Jack. As long he's running against a Republican.

David:
Not a chance.

Leta:
Only an Iranian nuclear threat can stop President Obama from being re-elected.

Julia in Fayetteville, North Carolina:
President Obama will be re-elected by the Republicans. The president is still trying to correct the mess they made prior to his first day in the White House.

Rick in Detroit:
It is possible that President Obama could survive 9% unemployment, but very unlikely. It would probably take a major blunder by the GOP opponent for Obama to win with the economy slumping again. The economy is what put the president into the White House, and the economy also led to the 2010 midterm slaughter of the Democratic Party.

David in Las Vegas:
Jack, If unemployment goes up… If Europe's financial world collapses… If gas is $5/gallon… If,If If. Why would he want to be re-elected?

Merrill:
In a normal election year, I would say no. But with the current field of Republicans, he may just carry all 50 states. I'm beginning to wonder if the GOP is trying to throw the election.

FROM CNN's Jack Cafferty:

The moral of the story is: If you think you’ll ever run for president of the United States, watch your mouth.

President Obama should be sending Rick Santorum flowers.

The Republican presidential candidate is under fire for a 2008 speech in which he said Satan is attacking the great institutions of America.

Speaking to students at Ave Maria University in Florida, Santorum said that "Satan has set his sights on the United States of America."

He described a "spiritual war" and asked, "If you were Satan, who would you attack in this day and age?" He suggested it was natural for the "father of lies" to go after a good, decent, powerful and influential country.

Fast forward four years and instead of acknowledging that the dialogue might have been a bit extreme, Santorum is digging in his heels.

He's defending his comments, saying he's a person of faith who believes in good and evil.

Santorum insists he is going to stay on message and talk about the things Americans want to talk about, such as economic recovery. He says his views on Satan are "not relevant" to what's being discussed today. Some people might disagree.

And when you want to be president, it's all fair game.

Santorum is leading the Republican field in several national polls. He's virtually tied with Mitt Romney in Romney's home state of Michigan.

We'll see if at tonight's debate Santorum's thoughts on Satan come back to bite him.

Here’s my question to you: Rick Santorum said Satan is attacking America. Is he right?

Interested to know which ones made it on air?

Doug in Massachusetts:
No way. Satan doesn't have the sway to get in front of the big special interest groups already raping this country - Wall Street, big corporations, a crooked Congress. Get a clue, Rick. Satan is out of his league in the U.S.

Mike in New Orleans:
When any politician starts campaigning based on their superiority with regard to religious matters, it's time to change the channel. Rick Santorum knows how to pander to bigotry and extremism. And a nutty vote counts as much as a thoughtful one.

Rick:
Of course not. However, the welfare party (Democrats) is attacking the very fabric of this country, its work ethic, and its principles to create a socialist dictatorship that no other party can defeat.

Barbara in North Carolina:
Santorum is giving Catholics all over the world a bad name. He certainly seems to be off in another world somewhere. We need to know these things. I personally don't want a preacher of any religion in the White House.

Ed in California:
Yeah, and his name is Rick Santorum. I thought my crazy, crazy Uncle Paulie was nuts; he looks sane when compared to Santorum.

Jeff in Bossier City, Louisiana:
Rick Santorum needs to lay off the Fruit Loops.

Tom in Texas:
And Rick knows this how? Did he get a phone call? I wouldn't be surprised if he said the world really is flat. The upside to that would be as he moves further right, as if that's possible, he'll fall off.

FROM CNN's Jack Cafferty:

It's time for a change from Change We Can Believe In.

President Obama's re-election campaign is looking for a new slogan to replace his 2008 mantras of hope and change.

Reuters reports that some of the contenders include Winning the Future, Greater Together and We Don't Quit.

His campaign posters still say Obama 2012 but surrogates have been road-testing some of these other ideas.

The campaign probably won't roll out the official slogan until the president knows who his Republican challenger will be, and that might take a while.

But whatever slogan President Obama goes with, it needs to represent a new reality. That includes high unemployment, economic insecurity and the fact that Mr. Obama is no longer a Washington outsider.

Senior campaign strategist David Axelrod insists the 2012 election is also about hope and change - even though those words may not be in the slogan.

The branding of a presidential campaign is all about connecting with voters. President Obama hit the nail on the head last time around, but lightning doesn't always strike twice.

One of the best campaign slogans ever was Ronald Reagan's 1984 re-election slogan, Morning Again in America.

What is Mr. Obama up against? The Republicans' slogans are highlighting their belief that the U.S. is on the wrong track under President Obama.

Mitt Romney uses Believe in America, Newt Gingrich has Rebuilding the American Dream plastered on his bus, and Ron Paul says he will Restore America Now.

Here’s my question to you: What would you suggest for President Obama's new campaign slogan?

Interested to know which ones made it on air?

Simon:
Give me the rest of your change. We've got $15 trillion in debt to pay off.

Tom in Atlanta:
How about a little Willy Nelson "If you've got the money honey, I've got the time"

Roy in Jacksonville, Florida:
Forward we go. Socialism, here we come.

Matt:
Jack, "Change" we can really believe in this time.

June:
That's easy: "One and done."

Riley:
I would use something like: "You don't really want the other guy, he's way worse than me.”

Beth:
He should sing "Let's Stay Together".

Liz on Facebook:
Give me 4 more years… We can be just like Greece!

Ed:
Not as crazy as the Republican candidates.

Bonnie in New Jersey:
Change we need to stuff down the Republican's mega-rich and corporate-loving throats.

David on Facebook:
Broke: Ran out of change.

Gilbert:
1. Four more years
2. Obama got Osama
3. I'm not Mitt Romney

FROM CNN's Jack Cafferty:

There's growing concern among Republicans that Mitt Romney can't deliver. If he loses his home state of Michigan next week, expect those whispers to become shouts.

Rick Santorum has opened a 10-percentage point lead over Romney in one national poll - his largest lead ever. Gallup's latest daily tracking poll shows Santorum leading Romney 36% to 26%. Santorum is also leading in Michigan, where Romney's father was governor, and in the key swing state of Ohio.

And all the money in the world doesn't seem to matter. The Romney campaign spent nearly $19 million last month. The super PAC supporting him spent another $14 million, and he's still fighting off the likes of Rick Santorum. What's more, Romney spent nearly three times what he brought in last month.

One of the few things still working in Romney's favor is electability. A USA Today/Gallup Poll shows Americans think Romney is nearly twice as likely as Santorum to beat President Obama.

Meanwhile, some senior Republicans are so nervous about the state of the race that they are circulating a so-called Plan B: a scenario where another candidate - who's not even in the race yet - wins the nomination and faces off against Obama.

Some of the names out there include the usual suspects: Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush.

While none of them seems all that interested, there's always Sarah Palin. The half-term dropout governor of Alaska says that if there were a brokered convention, she'd "do whatever I could to help." That prospect should help Republicans sleep well at night.

Here’s my question to you: How close is Mitt Romney to becoming toast?

Interested to know which ones made it on air?

Greg:
Butter his back side and call him a biscuit. He's done, but I hope he doesn't give up just yet. The millions of dollars the candidates are pumping into this race are good for the economy.

Jim in San Antonio:
He loves trees, lakes, and cars. How can such a "people person" possibly be toast?

Brian in San Diego:
For the nomination? Still a long ways away. It'll take a lot to fully knock Romney off his "inevitability" pedestal. But for the general election, the toaster's crackling and Romney's going to feel the heat before long. Every week he fails to seal the deal, every forced swing to the right he'll have to try and gloss over, every strong monthly jobs report, every uptick in the Dow, each of those is another electoral vote slipping away.

Alison on Facebook:
Toast? He seems more like plastic! I don't think Romney should be ruled out just yet, because Santorum just keeps going too far out there with the religious issues. Romney is much safer choice...especially with the threat of Palin on the horizon!

Michael:
I think Mitt Romney is toast, his political positions are all over the place and Independents like myself simply don't like and don't trust anything Mitt Romney says. I also think Mitt Romney has some explaining to do about the Mormon Church that he is a member of.

David in Tampa:
We haven't gotten to Super Tuesday yet, Jack. All four of the Lack Luster Gang still have a shot at the Republican brass ring unless Kermit the Frog enters the race. The Kermit/Ms. Piggy ticket is the only way I'll vote Republican.

FROM CNN's Jack Cafferty:

President Obama appears to be enjoying a bit of a perfect storm consisting of small pieces of good news.

It's reflected in his poll numbers, with a 50% approval rating for the first time in more than eight months.

The new CNN-Opinion Research Corporation Poll also shows Independents - who could decide the election - now have a net-positive view of Mr. Obama.

The president's job approval is up despite 6 in 10 saying things are going poorly in the U.S.

The same poll shows President Obama leading all of the Republican presidential candidates in hypothetical match-ups.

And it finds the GOP's advantage on voter enthusiasm has been erased.

Part of the political equation that appears to be working in Mr. Obama's favor is the toll that the stubbornness of Republicans in the House of Representatives has taken on the public's patience. By saying no to virtually everything, nothing got done.

It's taken a while for them to figure it out, but this week Republicans suddenly agreed to extending the payroll tax cut without asking for corresponding spending cuts.

Of course it's fiscally irresponsible. Just more deficit spending. But when it's election time politicians have even fewer principles than they do the rest of the year.

And maybe somebody told the Republicans that if they don't at least look like they want to be part of the solution - a lot of them are likely to be looking for work come November.

Also working in the president's favor: Glimmers of economic hope.

Jobless claims fell to 348,000 last week - the lowest since 2008..

And the 8.3% national unemployment rate is the lowest in three years.

Here’s my question to you: Why are President Obama's poll numbers rising despite high pessimism over the country's state of affairs?

Interested to know which ones made it on air?

Al in Lawrence, Kansas:
Four reasons: Mitt, Rick, Newt, Ron.

Tom in Rochester, New York:
Obama's poll numbers are rising because any good news is better than bad news any day. As long as things are going positive, Obama cannot lose and the Republicans know it. But, they've painted themselves into a "just say no" corner. So, anything they do from now on has to be positive or they alienate voters.

Bert in Los Angeles:
Hi Jack. It’s the swing voters reacting to the GOP field of mud-slinging cannibal candidates. But rather than saying “Anyone but Romney” as many Republicans are saying, they are saying “Anyone but a Republican.”

James in Alexandria, Virginia:
His numbers are going up because many, including myself, believe that he is really trying to do what's best for the country and Congress is the issue. Plus let's not forget that the GOP candidates are awful.

Jody:
The economy is important, we all agree. What is disturbing is the exclusionary attitudes of the Republican candidates toward the basic freedoms of a society. If you don't believe in pro-choice, gay marriage or taking contraception pills, then don't take part in it. It amazes me how an entire party can say shrink government in people's lives then turn around and shove their personal beliefs down everyone's throats.

Dan:
Simple, Jack. You have a guy who ties his dog to the roof of his car, a guy who thinks contraception is a sin, a guy who wants to end the military and a guy who wanted two wives - and he wasn't even the Mormon. Anyone who isn't in that group would have rising poll numbers.

FROM CNN's Jack Cafferty:

If you're planning to rely on Social Security in retirement, you may want to think again.

The Social Security Administration has already warned that the trust fund will likely run out of money in 2036. That's only 24 years away.

But now there's reason to believe it could run out of money even sooner.

The Congressional Budget Office says by 2020, the combined Social Security old age and disability trust funds will be $800 billion smaller than what the Social Security Administration projected last year.

AOL's Daily Finance suggests when the next SSA Trustees Report comes out, its own projections will probably be revised downward too.

In fact, that's been the trend over the past five years, with Social Security moving up its estimated "run-dry" date from 2041 to 2036.

When the trust fund runs out of money, it's expected benefits will fall by about 25%.

So if you still have time to put away additional money for your own retirement - not an easy thing to do in this economy - you should save up.

More than 54 million Americans collect Social Security for retirement, disability or survivor benefits. The average check for a retiree is about $1,200 per month.

Meanwhile Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner says the White House and congressional Republicans discussed ways to shore up Social Security last year as part of the debt ceiling talks.

But, big surprise - they couldn't reach a deal.

Lawmakers would either need to cut benefits, raise taxes, or a combination of the two. Won't happen - at least not now.

Here’s my question to you: Do you think Social Security will be there for you when you retire?

Interested to know which ones made it on air?

Sam in Lexington, Kentucky:
I absolutely don't expect Social Security to be here when I retire (29 now). I'm not planning on the government to figure out how to cut spending at any point before the entire house of cards comes tumbling down. I pretend the money I'm paying into it now goes to my grandparents and that at least lessens my anger that I'm forced to pay into a system that's a complete disaster.

N.:
Social Security needs to be restructured. This system should be like a savings account. When you retire, a lump sum should be given to you, and this should be invested in an annuity. This way the government right away is out of it. The lump sum must be invested...thus creating financial jobs. And the retiree can then get a monthly amount.

Jackie in Arlington, Virginia:
Of course Social Security will be there in the future. Despite fear-mongering and myths, it has never missed a check and is still intensely popular across all political parties. The only way it won't "be there" is if we let Congress cut our hard-earned benefits. The long-term funding gap is completely fixable. The extra revenue needed to fix the funding gap in 2036 can be achieved by raising the FICA tax cap on those that make more than $110,000.

Joe:
I want to be able to opt out of this sinking ship right now. I think I can better save for my own retirement.

Robert:
Well, I'm going to retire within the next 10 years or so. That shouldn’t be enough time to screw up and renege on the promise that was implied as I paid into the system all these years. But hey, you never know.

Nate in North Carolina:
Social Security? What's that? A card with a 9-digit number? I've heard older people talk about it, but when I asked them what it is, they say, "Don't worry about it." I am still in college and I am more worried about getting a job in this economy, let alone retiring.

FROM CNN's Jack Cafferty:

President Obama has broken a promise to the American people to cut the deficit in half.

His latest budget forecasts a $901 billion budget deficit for 2013.

If you add in the $1 trillion-plus deficits he has run for his first three years in office, along with an estimated $200 billion in economic stimulus, that's about $5 trillion in the red in his first term.

George W. Bush set the previous record of $3.4 trillion of deficits in eight years. President Obama is on track to add $5 trillion in deficits in just four years. This is part of the reason why our national debt is now a whopping $15 trillion.

The Weekly Standard crunches the numbers to find that deficit spending just under President Obama equals more than $17,000 per person or about $70,000 for a family of four.

In February 2009, shortly after President Obama took office, he pledged to cut the $1.3 trillion deficit he inherited from President Bush in half by the end of his first term.

"I refuse to leave our children with a debt that they cannot repay – and that means taking responsibility right now, in this administration, for getting our spending under control."

Meanwhile, a quick look at what's happening around the world could provide a glimpse of our own future.

Greece saw more violent riots this week after the government's approval of austerity measures.

The credit rating agency Moody's also downgraded six European countries, including Italy and Spain, amid concerns over the continent's debt crisis and sluggish economy.

Here’s my question to you: Where is the U.S. headed if Pres. Obama is adding an estimated $5 trillion to the national debt in his first term?

Interested to know which ones made it on air?

Robert:
Amazing that nearly one-third of our $15 trillion dollar debt is attributable to President Obama and the Democrats. We are seeing the wholesale destruction of the American free enterprise system in our lifetime.

Ben in Boston:
I guess we're headed for $10 to $15 trillion more debt if Mr. Obama is re-elected. From there, we will be headed for indentured servitude of a sort in order to pay some of it off through taxes on the middle class since the wealthy will find a way to escape them. Hey, don't blame me – Hillary won the primary in Massachusetts. She is a competent leader. I wish she were President now.

Ray in Knoxville, Tennessee:
Jack, Government spending is traditionally the thing that brings economies out of recessions. 30 years of Republican economic policies and 8 years of Bush tax cuts for the wealthy left President Obama with a crippled economy and empty coffers once he took the reins of government. His choices were let us go into a depression or add to the debt. I support the latter because it will eventually lead to recovery.

Tony:
Jack, I must say that it is quite astounding how a question like this can get answers that mention former President Bush. It seems that no matter what this current administration does or doesn't do, it's always the fault of George W. Bush. Just as little children blame others for their lack of abilities, these folks continue to cast a blind eye to the incompetence of Barack Obama. Amazing. Quite amazing..

David:
Greece.

Kirk in Minnesota:
The U.S. is going to pull a Thelma and Louise if we keep hemorrhaging money and don't start bringing some in.

FROM CNN's Jack Cafferty:

Rick Santorum says he can win swing states, but he lost a third Senate term in his own Pennsylvania by a whopping 18-point margin.

A stunning defeat for a two-term incumbent.

Santorum lost almost every region in Pennsylvania and almost every demographic group - including blue collar workers.

Supporters say Santorum lost the 2006 race due to a tough political climate for Republicans: President George W. Bush was unpopular, as was the Iraq war.

But there was more than that to Santorum's landslide loss - a lot more.

And if Mitt Romney wants to defeat Rick Santorum - who is the current flavor of the month in the polls - all he has to do is read some of this stuff aloud at campaign stops:

In 2006, Santorum faced charges of hypocrisy for living in Virginia with his family while a U.S. Senator from Pennsylvania and allowing a Pennsylvania school to pay for his children's online education.

He blamed "radical feminists" for forcing women to work and questioned the need for two-working-parent households. Try explaining that to Americans struggling to make ends meet.

Santorum has compared homosexuality to incest and polygamy and suggested that Boston liberals were to blame for the Catholic Church sex abuse scandal. Can you spell wacko?

Santorum also inserted himself into the Terri Schiavo case - where some members of the government thought it was their job, not the family's, to decide if a brain-damaged woman should have her feeding tube removed. It was a disgrace.

Here’s my question to you: Does Rick Santorum have electability issues if he lost his Pennsylvania U.S. Senate seat by 18 points?

Interested to know which ones made it on air?

Carol:
Rick Santorum has no appeal for intelligent women. He'll never get my vote. I'm a religious person, but I don't have any faith in a Bible-thumping politician. The photo of him with the pastors laying hands on him was just plain creepy. His views on women are ignorant and insulting.

M.:
An empty cab arrived… Rick Santorum got out.

Terri on Facebook:
He has electability issues because he's not running in the 17th century. His stance on women is positively archaic, from health care to the military to working to birth control, and beyond. Pennsylvania said the same thing America says: NO.

S. in Virginia:
The electability factor will weigh on "Can the new guy have a chance at making my existing conditions better?" The economy will be decide who wins more so than the candidate's social stances. The majority of those Americans who are displaced or see little future for their retirements will be the driving force to determine the next President.

Vic:
Depends. Did you like the Crusades?

Ken:
Nixon was vice president of the United States and when out of office, ran for governor of California and lost. The next time he ran for office, he ended up as president of the United States.

Gord in New Jersey:
Yes. As the standard bearer in the GOP's war against modern women, Rick Santorum is the epitome of "Father Knows Best" paternalism. Behind that cherubic smile is a 14th-century mind still struggling to come to grips with the Reformation.

FROM CNN's Jack Cafferty:

Mitt Romney grew up in Michigan. his father, George Romney, was the president of American Motors and later the governor.

Two weeks from today, there's a very real chance Romney could lose the Republican primary in his home state.

Now, it's one thing to lose any of the other 49 states, but it's another thing entirely to lose your home state where your dad was governor.

Michigan is a state especially hard-hit by the recession and chronic unemployment. We came within an eyelash of losing the domestic auto industry, which was born and almost died in Detroit.

So if there's ever a place where a wealthy Republican who seems out-of-touch with the common man might have a problem, it's Michigan - and he's got a problem there.

Polls show Romney trailing Rick Santorum - 33% to 27%.

In an attempt to connect with Michigan voters, Romney is out with an op-ed piece in today's Detroit news. In it, he calls himself a "son of Detroit" and says that American cars "got in my bones early."

He also defends an op-ed piece he wrote back in 2008 called Let Detroit go Bankrupt, in which he suggested managed bankruptcy would have been preferable to a bailout of America's car companies. Maybe so, but without the bailout many of the people Romney is looking for support from today probably wouldn't even be around.

Romney insists things in Detroit got worse after President Obama's intervention. He writes the government should sell off its auto stock - and turn that money over to the taxpayers.

Here’s my question to you: How big a deal would it be if Mitt Romney loses his home state of Michigan?

Interested to know which ones made it on air?

Sylvia in San Diego:
As big a deal as when Ted Kennedy's seat went to a Republican.

Karl in Flint, Michigan:
I guess historically it is psychologically important for a candidate to win his home state, but since no one so far has won the majority of primaries, it's not a real indicator of anything. Also, Mitt was born here, but never held office here like the others have in their home states. I'd say his winning or losing Massachusetts would be more telling then Michigan.

Andre:
It would mean that people have somehow woken up and asked themselves, "Where did the money go?" He may have been a kid here while we were kids, but now we're adults and he's an adult and he's got money and we don't. I've got the wrinkles, calluses, and fatigue … and he's going to parties every night wearing some pretty nice clothes.

Gigi in Oregon:
I'm more worried if Rick Santorum can win Pennsylvania. Pennsylvania voted him out of the Senate.

Tanner in Arizona:
I think that it would be a big blow to his campaign, but he would be able to recover if he wins Arizona. If he loses both, it will be very hard for him to regain momentum.

Steve in New York:
The liberals are foaming at the mouth to see that happen. It would guarantee Obama's re-election. But I think once Mitt Romney wins the nomination, it's all the way to the White House. Obama is very afraid of Romney.

Ralph in Chicago:
If Romney lost Michigan, it would be like Obama losing Illinois. I live in Chicago, where we vote early and often and at times in alphabetical order. Obama would never lose Chicago or Cook County. In fact, when I die I want to be buried in Cook County so I can stay active in politics.

FROM CNN's Jack Cafferty:

Americans' pain at the gas pump could mean pain on election night for President Obama come November.

The national average for regular unleaded gasoline is now $3.52 a gallon, according to the Energy Department. That's up more than 4 cents a gallon from a week ago, and experts are predicting that this summer, gas prices could go higher. Much higher. Think record highs.

Gasoline could top $4 a gallon by June, and in some places it could be near $5. Big cities like Chicago and San Francisco could be especially hard hit.

According to AAA, the all-time high U.S. average was $4.11 a gallon in the summer of 2008. We could easily hit a new record as summer driving season kicks into high gear and Obama gears up for the fall campaign.

Consider that when Obama took office in January of 2009, the average cost for a gallon of gas was $1.79. Gas prices have almost doubled since he took office, and they're headed higher.

There are several reasons for the jump in gasoline prices - including the possibility of war in the Middle East. There's also the closing of refineries, along with the increased demand for gasoline as summer travel season approaches. Plus the government requires a switch from cheaper winter gas formulations to more expensive summer ones.

But all those reasons aside, whether it's fair or not - the American motoring public has always tended to blame the guy in the White House for high gas prices.

Here’s my question to you: If gasoline hits record prices this summer, how much will it hurt President Obama's re-election chances?‬ ‪ ‬

Interested to know which ones made it on air?

Susan in Ohio:
It will hurt, but with all the current turmoil in the GOP, I still think Obama will pull it off in November. I only hope he can get a Congress that will work with him. We really need to get alternative energies going in a serious way or we are literally doomed. More wind farms, solar panels, geothermal and nuclear power plants will do wonders for lessening our addiction to oil.

Mark:
It's what this socialist regime wants, to control our everyday lives including our transportation. Your president has this vision of a European-type of transportation society where we all use buses, trains, bicycles, and very few cars because of the price of gas. Remember what he said? "We can't drive our SUVs” around....

Lisa on Long Island:
People with a brain will connect gas prices with what’s going on in the Middle East, not the president. What the other 90% of Americans will think is anybody's guess.

Abram:
If Obama hadn’t killed the Keystone Pipeline, gas prices would be down. So Obama lost my vote.

James in Greenville, North Carolina:
Not at all, Jack. The Obama faithful are immune. The smell of gas fumes will not deter them from Obamamania. I really don't think the liberals even drive, do they? Obama knows the faithful will never falter over a few more dollars per gallon. What is it the preacher says when you get married? "Love is blind?"

Joe in New York:
Americans have a short memory, Jack. As long as the price of gas is back down by November, nobody is really going to care.

Mark:
If gasoline hits five bucks a gallon this summer, I will WALK through the snow and ice next fall to vote AGAINST Obama. If it's two dollars a gallon, I will drive over to vote against him anyway.
