FROM CNN's Jack Cafferty:
Another primary/caucus day - and with it, yet another day of bad news for Newt Gingrich. In this case, it looks like three more losses.
For starters, Gingrich isn't even on the ballot in Missouri. Plus, recent polling shows him in third place in Colorado and Minnesota. That’s probably why Gingrich is in none of these states today, choosing instead to campaign in Ohio.
Newt's future doesn't look too bright at this point. There are two more weeks to go before the next debate, where he tends to excel. At the end of the month come Arizona and Michigan. Romney is favored in both.
Super Tuesday is on March 6, but Gingrich has even given up on getting on the ballot in his adopted home state of Virginia that day.
When Gingrich took a beating at the hands of Mitt Romney in Nevada - much like he did in Florida - he seemed to ignore the results.
Gingrich held a bizarre news conference after the Nevada loss in which he vowed to "find a series of victories which by the end of the Texas primary will leave us at parity" with Romney.
The writing is on the wall for Newt - but it appears he's the only one who can't see it. Former candidate Michele Bachmann says she thinks the race will soon be over; and tea party leader Dick Armey says Gingrich is a lost cause for those voters.
Meanwhile, here’s one more sign that Gingrich is losing touch: Wikipedia says Gingrich's communications director has made or requested dozens of edits on Gingrich's behalf. These include factual references to Gingrich's three marriages and ethics charges brought against him while U.S. House speaker.
Here’s my question to you: Is Newt Gingrich kidding himself at this point?
Tune in to the Situation Room at 4pm to see if Jack reads your answer on air.
And, we love to know where you’re writing from, so please include your city and state with your comment.
Jack, four years ago I thought the same thing about this "nobody" black senator from Illinois who thought he could just pop up out of nowhere after a measley two years in the U.S. Senate and convince intelligent voters that he could actually run a country. Well, now we have this surly, rotund ex-speaker of the house bashing the media and who actually knows how to debate running for the nomination. One is no more improbable than the other.
Here is the scoop Jack.Old Newt has been in the game so long he just can not bare the fact that he may not be relevant
any more.Like some ole athlete that wants one more come back.....one more big play one more moment of glory.
The addiction is the game..............being in the moment.Back at Yale Bowl in the 4th quarter one last time.................
in the rain on a cold November day 4th and 1............with 5 seconds.............PLEASE!!! Just one last time.
Jack,Newt's time is over...................the game is over and the fans are gone home.
The joke's on us. Newt's on an all-expense paid book tour raking in loot.
Maybe it's going to be material for his next book. I'd miss him if he weren't in the race.
Respectfully, the former House speaker is kidding himself at this point about seeking the nomination as much as he
bamboozled with...well both of his previous wives. He did not get it then and he dxxn sure doesn't get it now. Poor Newt !
Kidding? Newt is not only kidding himself but the" KIDS" out there that think he has a prayer to be anything other than a strain on an already strenuous economy. "Hey Newt! Your The Best Option We Have! Just Kidding" By the way "KIDS" stands for "Knuckleheads in dire straits"
That's a fact Jack. He seems to think everyone is as far right as he is in the country and that is just not so. The more he talks it seems the more people start seeing him as he is as far right as over the curb. A code talker for all the southern good ole boys network.
So far Mitt has always shot himself in the foot. What's to stop him from bobbling the gun and hitting himself in a spot more fatal? If Newt hangs in their long enough, he could be the last clown in the car.
No, Newt is not kidding himself, he knows what he is doing. One major slip by Romney and Newt wins the nomination. Worst case scenario is he fades out of the picture, but he has increased his name recognition, which is going to help him sell more books, and cash in a little bit on the Public Appearence circuit. Maybe he will become a science fiction writer. Doug, Pepperell, MA.
Newt likes to toot the flute of the suits.
No, I don't think so Jack. Newt knows Romney isn't the most popular choice of many Republican voters . It looks like all the candidates aren't too popular either. Romney also seems be double jointed, and have the same foot in mouth decease as Newt. Newt knows the harm that it can cause. So why not keep on going in this destruction derby of a campaign, and be there if Romney crashes..
It's called delusions of grandeur. I believe it is usually considered a mental illness. One fully expects him to start showing up at events in tights and a cape with a large "G" across his chest to Mighty Mouse's theme "Here I come to save the day" playing over loud speakers. If he is really serious about helping the country he will volunteer to colonize the moon. Who knows he might even be elected governor when it becomes the 51st state.
Jack: Newt knows the establishment of the Republican Party really wanted a more conservative candidate, and he allso knows they really do not want a flip-flopper on the issues. In addition Newt realizes that March good be a strong month, and he will do much better than Romney, if he can get through February. Newt is not a quitter. Newt is like a bull dog when comes to politics and issues. It should be interesting to watch the circus over the next few months. I see a bright future, but it is not for the Republicans.
Nah Jack. Gingrich knows he has absolutely no chance in hell at the presidency. He is just touring the country on other peoples money. It will give him something to write his next book about. " 50 ways to leave your lovers!!".
Mangham, Louisiana: Is Newt Gingrich kidding himself at this point? No. The man is so deluded that he does not realize he can never be president. He is now showing his true colors as a hateful, mean-spirited person. This only decreases those who have been foolish enough to support him.
Manchester, CT – Hi Jack. Newt has apparently gone off on one of his tangents again. He is not paying attention to any of the people working for him on this campaign, and has also prettily heavily missed the whole Adelson clue. I mean when your number one financial backer has said "You're cut off, and I may start contributing to your rival once he sews up the Nomination." hasn't struck home with him. He should go back home to Virginia, schedule himself some high paying speaking tours, and let Callista spend her heart out at Tiffany's.
Not only is Ginrich kidding himself, his mental instability is well documented among his former congressional colleagues, and now the American people know it. Gingrich's intellectual dexterity can be admired to a point, beyond that he has displayed how loose and dangerous he can be. For a man so smart, he's a very ineffective liar, anytime his statements can be fact-checked and verified as inaccurate, I wouldn't trust anything he says. This explains why the GOP are scared out of their wits, they don't know where he will strike next. He also has very high negatives which underscore his inability to exhibit remorse for his moral transgressions. All of the above makes for a very unattractive presidential candidate.
The only ones that Newt is kidding are the fools that are still supporting him. Newt Gingrich was, is, and always will be a slimy politician, par excellante, and is working this scam for every dime he can get out of it. Why give up now, while the goose is still laying those golden eggs? His affect on the party is of no consequence to him. He's in it for Newt and only Newt.
Gingrich is just trying to make sure that he builds the Newt brand, so that for the next few years he can get on TV in case you guys have a slow news day , sell his malarkey-laden books, or get paid for espousing whatever anyone will pay him to say. Adelson should be angry, but I guess he's getting his money's worth
Is Newt Gingrich kidding himself at this point?
He's been kidding himself for years Jack.
Newt has turned into nothing more than a barking dog at this point. The more he persisits in his ego driven mission the more desperate and pathetic he becomes.
Of course Romney super pacs will buy the nomination for Romney. But,as a Democrat, I think the attacks by Gingrich and Santorum on Mitt's many flaws are invaluable, so let them keep it up until the convention. And, Paul's substantial following for a losing candidate can water down Romney's message. Romney's money is largely from relatively few billionaires and millionaires, while Obama's is 98% donors undeer $250. Obama will be able to counter Romney very effectively compared to the GOP also-rans.
When will everyone wake up to Newt? Its for the bucks! Book will come out, speaking engagements, get hired by a network (Fox) and pay all his credi card charges at Tiffany, put lots of peoples support money in his pocket and kiss the PACs goodbye.
All about the money. Its politics
Yes, Mr. Cafferty, he is. However, to be fair, so are the rest of the of occupants of the clown car called the Republican nomination race.
From Slippery Rock, PA
Talk about a bubble going to burst!
But you know, that was the way he was in the House! Something's not right with Newt.
Talk about beating a dead horse. Newt, the people do not want you. Frankly, we have had enough of you to last a long time, and we believe your party has too.
likely many believe all the candidates are klidding themselves at this point. these would be happy to just appoint Obama king, and have done with it.
Newt's completely delusional at this point. He and the wife need to book another cruise and sail off into the sunset.
Never confuse what Gingrich might say with the truth or fact Ten Commandments are merely suggestions
Newt Gingrich thinking he could be president is one of the biggest political jokes of my lifetime, and not the funny kind. Of course with Trump, Bachmann and Perry's run, and Palin's run as VP, he's barely holding on to being a first place joke. I'm sick of the GOP making a mockery of everything we hold dear, using fear, lies, bigotry, and deceit to win us over, running candidates whose ignorance of basic facts is stunning. What ever happened to honor, dignity, and basic common decency, or a sense of acting for the common good? They disgust me, and Newt most of all.
No, not at all. If nothing else he'll get something he wants come nomination time.
The establishment in the republican party wants Romney. They turned totally against newt for questioning Romney's business record.
It is up to the voters, to say whether they will allow the party establishment, to control this election, or whether they want to send a message to the party, that the VOTERS pick the candidate.
Interestingly.......the Dems want Romney too.......and that is worrisome.
One thing the American public can trust Newt Gingrich to do is to take them headlong into World War 3.
With regard to the Palestinians and Iran, he is a man of aggression and warmongering and the end result is that the people of Iran and Palestine are put on the defensive.
People like Newt Gingrich can serve only to add tension to tension and draw World War 3 into view.
Newt has been kidding himself from the beginning. The only reason he has gotten any attention and votes is this has to be the worst Republican fielding of presidential candidates ever. They have changed the front runner like 9 times now, and would probably vote for Ghenkis Khan if he was alive and running now. Anyone but the black man is their 2012 motto.
No, Jack, you're kidding yourself if you take Newt and his alleged presidential ambitions seriously. He is not playing to a broad national audience he is only talking to his Fox audience, the people who will watch him when he gets his old job back lying on one network instead of many. The people who might buy his 63rd book and the people who might buy gold ingots when he tells them the apocalypse is coming are the suckers he is trying to get into his tent. This is the promotional tour that Donald Trump wanted for the next season of Celebrity Apprentice, but the Donald didn't have the attention span to stick it out this long. Newt's not kidding himself, he's kidding the media hacks who skip stories about Syria, unemployment, voter suppression, etc so they can spend hours and hours every day riding the circus train that is Newt.

Grinch will steal the limelight no matter how irrational it may seem to us mere mortals. His delusions run deep, penetrating only his wife's carapace.
Carol in Northampton, Ma
Noot has no honor as it is. But, what Noot is doing is pumping up his Super PAC fund. Jack, it's all about the Super PAC. Ch-ching!!
Newt knows exactly what he's doing. He's building a customer base for speaking tours when the cmapaign is over. He's the quentissential conman and whatever he does is for personal profit.
Yes, Mr. Gingrich is out of touch. Always has been. But, so are the voters who put George W. Bush in office – TWICE! In Texas and as President of the United States. TX tried a second shot at doing it again.
Jack he is not only kidding himself I think he is trying to kid you.
Paul from Ames, Iowa
No, I think the joke is still on us.
Poor Newt, no one understands poor Newt. None of his ex-wives, just a few like minded republicans. Poor Newt, forever out of touch, one might say clueless.
Yes he is kidding himself and trying to sell his BS to the rest of us. Gingrich reminds me of a carnival barker- all noise no substance.
In sprts it is referred to as Manny being Manny. This is the result of Newt being Newt. He tried to lurk in the shadows with his true spots but he has been exposed to the sun and his spots are showing. Kinda objectionalbe. you cannot change the spots on the leopard.
No-he thinks he's fooling US, though. And I hope he keeps doing what he's doing. It's GREAT for President Obama!
The bully just wants revenge that's all.
Not only is he kidding himself, he has exposed all who have supported him to be as delusional as he is. It is astonishing that there are still citizens out there who believe that the Republican Party is relevant in any way. Why is it that all we are ever offered from conservatives are the crack pots and hucksters looking to rob us blind?
Jack: Nootie is in complete denial or dementia-–and he has been for a while-but Newt Leroy will continue to promote himself all the way to the GOP convention floor. He lies to himself-and even more sad--he believes it--a "broken man" who want accept his destiny. Tiffiany is waiting Newty--
Early in the campaign Newt was in debt from lack of campaign contribution funding, but this may have changed. Newt likes to vacation around the country and I would guess that as long as his campaign war chest stays full he will continue with his working vacation. If he is using his own money for the campaign, then he probably needs a tax write off for his $3.1 million dollar annual income.
Politics is such a rough occupation!
Newt and the rest of the republician herd are fooling themselves when it comes to the general election.
Jack, this man has been a joke since it became public knowledge that he was having an affair while he was prosecuting Clinton for having one. The man is a walking punchline, hell Newt is as funny as Dick for the name for a head of state.
I watched Newt Gingrich months ago before the campaign began, it was a total different Newt then. These days, he's depressed, mean, cruel, blaming... For his health sake, Newt needs to just take a break and go home!
"At any point, and in any way, Grinch, is living in cloud cuckoo-land! He sounds like Burt Lancaster in that crazy bible-punching movie. "
Some people consider Newt to be very intellegent but he's not the sharpest pencil in the room when it comes to reality. The difference between fantasy and reality is pain and to admit defeat is too painful for the former speaker as his ego won't let him admit he will not win.
He has to be, because pretty much everyone else has gotten the joke, which he has to look in the mirror to see.
Yes he is kidding himself Jack. Ron Paul is the only one making sense. I just voted for him today in MO. "Got "Demons" in Your government?" Who ya gonna call? RON PAUL.
The guy who wants to turn the moon into the 51st state kidding himself? Well, who'd have thunk it!
He is kidding himself because he sure as heck isn't kidding the general public. People think his idea of a Moon colony is a joke but it isn't. The joke is Newt. Problem is that no one beleives Newt like Newt.
does it really matter who wins ? not really wake up america and throw out congress ! term limits is the only way to take back our great country. newt or obama how about dumb and dumber. i really think if we all turn off the tv and stick our heads in the sand, then we might have the same chance to make change like these guys.
Either Newt is fooling himself or he has selective Alzheimers and he's forgotten his record as speaker of the house. A disgraced former Speaker of the House, creator of the Contract with America that declared war on America's poor, ill and elderly, Newt is hiding behind his new religion trying to have the voting public forget his actions.
Ask his campaign manager, R.U. Sirius?
Gingrich's biggest mistake was to attack Romney. By attacking Romney, you're attacking your own party. He would have done much better attacking Obama on the issues. Advice to Gingrich, stop attacking Romney and start attacking Obama. Try it and see if you get better results. You have nothing to loose. If you don't try it, you're finished.
Good. Newt is by far the scariest Republican I have seen in 40 years. I hope he fall off the face of this earth.
Sounding off in Columbus, Ohio. Newt is kidding himself and sullying the Republican nominee race in the process. His very presence in the race is offensive. His ego is coming at the expense of the entire Republican Party, where at this point, the race is all but over and a united front against President Obama is necessary if Romney, and the GOP at large, want to see a Republican in the White House next winter. Romney 2012!
Newts job is to elect President Oboma and hes doing a good job at it. We need him in the race to soften up Romney before the general election. GREAT JOB NEWT, KEEP IT UP. WE DEMACRATS LOVE YOU FOR IT YOU CLOSET LIBERAL! LOL
Newt is past the river "de-nial!" His 15 minutes of politcal fame are almost over and he's milking it for some type of politcal favor. Can't wait to see who he endorses when his medication wears off. If he brings Ronald Reagan from the grave, I'm going to go swimming in his creek.
Send Newt to the Moon
He's an egomaniac!!!!!!
What's his downside at this point? The media is providing him an unrestricted platform to grandstand on his wild ideas, uncontested opinions, and outright slander on any topic that suits his fancy. Perfect for the narcissist that he is and fits right in with his intent to work the big money lecture circuit after the election.
This is Newt Gingrich method of operations since day 1! He thinks he can continue back peddling everything and it will go away. This is a little late to be asking if Newt Gingrich is kidding himself!!!! That question should have been asked in the beginning from every person that was an adult since this guy was in the House of Representatives!!!!! He was corrupt then, so what did anyone expect???? This is Newt Gingrich being Newt Gingrich!!!!! If it's someone important like him, they'll change the encyclopedia or records for him. THIS IS NOTHING NEW OR UNEXPECTED!!!!
Newt isn't smart enough to be kidding himself. All the booksmarts in the world cannot help someone so blinded and delusional with the power of his own ego. Let's be honest, Newt represents everything wrong with our government. Ethics violations, trying to impeach Clinton for marital infidelity as he is cheating on his wife, again, and making millions from companies who were destroying the economy. Newt's intelligence can not give him the one thing he clearly needs, that being integrity, and it is obvious he has none.
Depends on which Newt you're talking about. I think he's bipolar. We usually see the manic Newt.
The Florida debate featured the timid Newt. That one is sure he's wasting his and everyone
Manic Newt?......not so much.
Newt's not kidding himself, his wife is.
Newt's run has always been about hs self image and his ego. For him to face the reality of his futility of his current position would be abandon what he's all about. Most of us by the time we are in our 60's have to face that we are not Superman, I guess newt has yet to reach that epiphany.
As a historian, he is determined to secure an honored passage. Unfortunately he has become an embarrassing footnote.
Jack – he's fooled his constituents, his wives, and everyone who has ever supported him throughout the years. He believes in moon colonies and has the audacity to propose, even as an admitted philanderer, that gay marriage is somehow a threat to the institution he so easily dismisses, so why should it come as any surprise that he should fall for his own lies. Denial is not just a river in Egypt.
Jack, Newt's been kidding himself at Every point. But acting any differently wouldn't make him Newt, would it?
This is a trick question, right Jack? ;-)
The only reason Gingrich keeps going is because he wants to dtry to hurt Romney. He doesnt care about the party, he just wants to hurt Romney. He is living in a fantasy world, he trys to pretend that his violations in congress means nothing and that his failed marriages mean nothing, when in reality, how do you trust someone who has violated the rules of the very institution he was suppose to be leading, and has cheated on some many wives.
Newt Gingrich, like all politicians who find themselves behind in the polls have two incredible obstacles to overcome as time goes by - REALITY and EGO. The first can be staring them in the face and they turn away. The second
Newt Gingrich, like all politicians who find themselves behind in the polls, has two incredible obstacles to overcome as the campaign unfolds - REALITY and EGO. The first, REALITY, is something he is simply choosing to ignore while his EGO is ingrained and is his lamp post to lean on. . It's a truism that all politicians see themselves as special and to acknowledge REALITY, regardless of poll numbers, would deal a crushing blow to their EGOs. Only when the last vote has been cast will Gingrich fold his tent, swallow his ego and slink from the spotlight.
Gary in Scottsdale, Arizona
Yes Jack, he is kidding himself now just like he's been kidding us all this time. He is a past event on the timeline of politics.
Self delusion is apparently the necessary ingredient to run for the Presidency of America, the candidates all prove it.
Yes. But he has been kidding himself since the mid-90's. Historian for Fannie-Mae indeed. We needed a good laugh though.
Yes, Newt Gingrich is most certainly kidding himself. He's peaked and there is now no way that he will be the Republican nominee. He is perceived as arrogant and abrasive, he has almost zero support outside of the party's extreme right wing, his campaign is under-funded and poorly-organized, and he has more baggage in both his public and his private life than a Greyhound bus.
He will not be the Republican nominee. Everyone outside of the candidate himself and his core of die-hard supporters knows this now. The question is how long it will take until reality dawns on them as well.
Jack, What Newt knows is Romney is going to lose and he is 100% correct on that, but he is kidding himself when it comes to even himself winning the Presidency. He would have to rely on amnesia striking 80% of the voters to even have a chance at the Presidency. Now on the other hand he probably wouldn't have a problem becoming the next Grand Dragon if he could get David Dukes endorsement, so I wouldn't feel too sorry for him. The GOP brand after all these debates is more damaged now, than after the last Presidential election. Lower turn out in half of the Primaries is showing just how enthusiastic GOP voter are becoming. I do urge them to send as much money to Newt as possible, so we can continue study the behaviors of a hate filled twisted lecher and his followers. It's good to know such things, please pan the audience a bit more lets see who is out there in Hy Def.
Did he ever really believe he had a chance of winning? Maybe he is not in it to win it but in it to profit (he did after all pay himself back first.). Or after the brutal campaign ads the Romney camp has run, maybe he is looking to be a spoiler for Romney. even if he doesn't get the Republican nomination, he could run as a third party candidate. Wouldn't that be fun?
As a Republican I find Newt to be entirely unelectable....so yes, he is kidding himself.
Newt was kidding himself when he announced his candidacy. While a few uneducated bubbas in South Carolina might think him presidential material, the rest of the country knows better, and remembers him.
Newt is toast. He never got off the ground in this one. He is part of the Old Republican Party and had major issues when he was in elected office. To say now how Washington is broken is really hypocracy. He was Washington when it was broken. I have written to his twitter account numerous times and asked him to quit talking about Raegan. Most of the voters don't even remember when Raegan was in office.
I want to know impacts of plans. Nobody is giving me this, which will in effect mean re-election for Obama. What is the benefit of getting oil through the pipline? Answer: X amount of jobs, no more relying on the middle east for oil and expect a gallon of gas to drop XX cents. Is that difficult? No, but nobody does this so it continues to be political fluff that almost everyone in this country is tired of.
Yes he is kidding himself and only himself. newt is a mean, bitter old man whose time has come and gone. so good-bye. maybe if you had spent more actually working in politics and not the ladies, you would be more believable today and not so bitter. You are a big joke. Bye-bye. LOL
The whole Republican party is kidding themselves if they think they can defeat the current administration. They have no ideas and are peddlling the same old rheoteric.
I would say now. Even CNN analyst have said that once we swing through the southern state primaries he can still pull this out. Blitzer and King both said after FL that it would look ugly for a while but he could still pull out the southern states. However, Rick Santorum may change those stakes. Plus Mitt could keep his mouth open long enough to say something pretty stupid, so could Newt.
I think Newt knows that he can't win this. But he is showboating in order to keep his status as a Republican big shot for TV, books, speaking engagements and maybe even a run in 2016.
No, Newt's not kidding himself, he's trying to bury some of the "history" about himself. Newt being the "great Historian" knows if the facts aren't there, then where's the proof and if there is no proof, it's denialable.
No Jack, Newt is not kidding himself. When the front-runner has yet to cross the 50% threshold mark among his own party's loyalists, there's a lot left to be said in this game. Newt is rightly fancying his chances. He knows he has a base among conservatives – he'd be stupid to give up on the opportunity.
Jack, I know this answer will seem sarcastic, but yes Newt is kidding himself.
Think about it. This is the guy who wants to build a Moon colony, deflects any questions about his marriages on the media, he even "took personal offense" when Ron Paul said he got deferrment when Ron Paul went to Vietnam as a medic to help our troops. Newt constantly race baits subtley jockeying for the racist elements of Obama's critics, then denies any racism. Even when he tries to promote himself or attack people he references a little history trying to take credit for the past greats.
Now you tell me the guy you all think is a "history buff" is trying a hand at rewriting his own history. Gee rewriting history reminds me of a historical figure born in Austria that rose to power in Germany. I think you don't need my response Jack. You answered the question yourself in the paragraph before your question.
Newt has been and always will be a waste of time. He thinks he's the smartest guy around and has an ego that is even larger. As a result, in his mind, he deserves to be President. Well, he's not necessarily the smartest guy around and his ego is way too big. He views the Presidency as being made a king and, as almost everyone that ended up in the Presidency will tell you, you aren't even close to being a king. In a lot of cases you're just a pawn along for the ride.
He will just keep bringing in campaign funds so why stop?
Gingrich never had a chance, but I have been thoroughly entertained by his every action. Please keep it coming Newt!
Newt is deluded; He seems to think it's still 1996 and he's lambasting president Clinton for moral turpitude (while cheating on his 2nd wife) to the cheers of the moral majority (remember them?)- He's good a stirring up the anger and fear on the right – but a "serious" candidate? That ship sank months ago. He'll continue to hammer Romney, because that's all he can do to stay relevant. But it won't matter anyway. As long as the economy continues to improve, there is not way any of the current crop of GOP "contenders" beat President Obama.
Maybe he's just kidding us. Remember that he has delegates has power at the convention, and that will be the place where Gingrich gets to put his ideas about government across, so even if Romney gets the nomination, the Republican platform is still a battle that can be fought.
As a very conservative Independant. If it was between Newt and Obama I would have to vote for the President on Family Value's alone. I am not a supporter of many of the President's policies, but I don't trust anyone with a track record like Newt.
Frankly if he can't be faithful to a wife how can we expect him to faithful in anything he says? I could forgive a failed marriage but when he has a pattern of behavior like he has had, I'm through.
At THIS point??? Hell, Newt has been kidding himself (and certain gullible other folks) since he started to believe that it was okay to BBQ a sitting president for sexual hijinks when was doing the same thing at the same time! When it comes to the 2012 Republican Primaries, Newt has put the "clown" in "clown car".
Ego is such a blindfold. And self honesty is something Newt may never experience as he will always remain in the dark.
Yes he is kidding himself...............he is washed up, the party is over, everyone has gone home..........Elvis has left the building.............
this train has left the station.............so go home, and take your plastic wife with you..........
I am a democrat.....................peace out...............
The Newtster knows what he's doing. He wants to be the male Sarah Palin raking in the big bucks shooting off his mouth with none of the responsibility associated with elected office. And just who can blame him?
With this guy's baggage and his blustering and loose-cannon comments like the moon station, he needs to seriously think about giving it up. It's hard to believe this guy who was drummed out of the Speaker's job (To get fired from congress is no smalll task!) and his record of cheating with other women and then marrying them, could be even on the ballot of the teavangelical GOP! I guess that cult-fearing group discounts Mormon, Ivy law, CEO-type Romney – but he's their best last chance to beat the president they all dislike so vehemently....especially if he could get Rubio as his VP. Fact.
Yes Newt is kidding himself. He is as explosive and unpredictable as a volcano. Women do not like a man who will be unfaithful to his wife/his wives, who has affairs with other women while married. He has bad character, no discretion and very poor judgment. Does that sound like Presidential attributes? No! His current wife had an ongoing affair with a married man, took him from his wife and is now married to him. Is that who I want as First Lady? NO!!!!!!!
What do you mean "at this point"? Newt lives in a world of his own creation.
Who cares!!??? We need to keep Newt in the race, because he provides so much material for the late night comics! Bachmann left, and the others... well, they just aren't so funny and "lunatic" as Newt.. STAY IN THE RACE!!! We need the escape from reality once in a while....
Do you believe that Mr. Newt is, at least in some form, mentally ill? His behavior and speeches are becoming much more odd.
Yes, he's kidding himself. As far back as I can remember he's "kidded" himself. And now he expects us to "kid" right along with him. But as far as I'm concerned the whole GOP field is a perfect example of the phrase: "Are you kidding me?
The amount of the cost of a campaign is obscene. Anyone continuing in the Republican race is naive to continue against PAC Money. We no longer live in a Democracy when the Supreme Court allows this in elections Corporate America and big money will always win in the primaries. Romney has won.
Yes, he is kidding himself. His candidacy has been a sad joke all along. By the way, Jack, how do you know if Newt has committed a crime? Answer: He accuses you of it.
More Tea Newt? Be a Dear and pour, the tea pot is on your side of the bed. . . .
Probably so. He's a very smart man and would beat Obama in any debate. He lacks common sense.
Ego, that is what he is all about. Newt has backed himself into a corner. When Mitt wins the nomination, it will be Newt's ego that won't let him concede. How then will he support the Republican candidate? Ka-ren in Erie, PA
Unequivocally yes. He does not have staying power in this race, plus, Ron Paul actually passed him today in a new Reuters/Ipsos Poll. Keep your eyes on Paul, he may come out of nowhere in the delegate count and shock everyone (and I hope, for the sake of our country, he does).
Newt's selective memory and revisionist self history is growing longer than his nose now
Gingrich's ability to deceive himself will be limited by the inevitable drop-off in funding as he continues to fall further and further behind in delegates. Without large donors to his Super-PAC, the ads won't run. He doesn't really have any other base. Money is just a symptom of his larger problem, but it's one that he can't really avoid noticing. I suspect the second unmistakeable symptom will be staff leaving (if he actually has any staff - seems to be pretty much a one-man band). Even Rick Perry looks graceful compared to this.
I wish I was smart enough to run non-profits and use donated money to purchased from my for-profit businesses. Add in a 4 month state-by-state tour of the U.S. paid for by other people, and I would say the joke's on us!
Yeah, he's out of touch, but no more so than Romney. Is this really the best of the GOP?
No he's not. If he can't win, he'll make life difficult for Romney. Newt can win the southern states in his sleep, which isn't enough for him to win, but may be plenty (along with Paul and Santo Rum) to keep Romney from getting 1144.
Only one word can describe him... Delusional!
The funny thing is that Newt believes that he is kidding us the voters. Maybe his idea to form a colony on the moon which would be lead by him is not such a bad idea after all.
Old man just does not get it. We are not interested in his Whining, His run for the gold is over, face it.
Newt Gingrich isn't kidding himself because he doesn't really care about winning the presidency anymore. All he wants to do is destroy Mitt Romney.
Newt was kidding himself as soon as he entered the race.
Jack, he's been kidding everyone else so why not himself?
I did not realize that anyone even questioned that he was delusional in addition to all of his other defects
I don't think Newt Gingrich can hear much of anything over the air leaking out of his giant head. With the race being so close and the GOP base being so fickle, I'm not sure how Newt ever thought he was "the nominee." The 90s weren't that long ago, Newt; we haven't forgotten.
He's just using the Trump Playbookat this point, you have no chance to be president , so just get the publicty.
Yes, he's kidding himself. He might be a historian, but in this case, he can't see th writing on the call.
I think Newt is kidding himself. How are Americans supposed to believe in a leader who does not even believe in himself? This shows how important it is to make sure he is NOT the Republican nominee.
As with most used up politicians, their ego's are such that they are always the last to get the message......Newtie was done before he started.....
Politicians never jid themselves, the joke is usually on the "people" instead. However, it seems that this time around, less of the people or sheep whichever you prefer seem to possibly have gotten somewhat smarter to Gingrich's sales pitch!
If Newt Gingrich wasn't so full of himself, he would be able to see just how full of shit he really is...
A narcissist, which is what Gingrich is, does not see the writing on the wall, and will never see it even if it punches him in the face. An embarrassing loss is simply the reverse to such a person. Multiple flagrant losses mean nothing. Gingrich's attitude is that he WILL PREVAIL, but the "how" is something he never addresses. Even Adelson at this point seems like he's bailing on him. So unless Gingrich plans to hold the entire Republican convention hostage and stage a coup at gunpoint, his dream of grandeur will not materialize. Thankfully.
I guess he probably is, because the joke's always been on him anyway. He's turned into an angry laughingstock.
Newt does not kid! Newt distorts history to fit his agenda.
Newt has been kidding himself since day one. He has a very abrasive personality, no one That I know likes him and look at his track record, he is a professional weasel.
Who in their right mind would want this character anywhere near the presidency.
Yes, I agree that Gingrich is out of touch with reality. He never should have run with his personal and professional background where he showed extreme arrogants towards anyone standing in his way. Look how he treated people in government and other wifes he had. I'm glad to hear he has turned around his personal life and he is making millions a year on his private ventures but to represent the people of America? I think not.
Gingrich's only hope was that people would not remember his past and what a disgrace he was. If he was a true Republican he would get out now.
Newt is laughing all the way to the bank, Jack. He's eating the in the best restaurants, flying first class, staying in the best hotels, all on someone else's nickel. He'll sell lots more books, and get many more lobbying contracts as a result of this high profile publicity tour paid for by his millionaire friends, and lots of suckers who donated.
Newt has been kidding himself for 20 years – perhaps since he came to be House Speaker. He was accused of ethics violations, left ill wives for newer goods twice and now wants us to re-form the 2012 Republican campaign conversation around how being rich is a bad thing (all the while being rich himself). Looking in the mirror is apparently not one of his key talents.
Jens, The Colony TX
Heck no. Hes not kidding himself at all. He's just getting all the practice he can get before running for the President of the United Colony of the Moon. I understand they will allow many wives and mistresses. You go Newtie boy, you go!!
Ironic that Newt calls Romney a liar.
Newt is not wont for ego. And the self inflated ego cannot accept that he will not live in the White House – ever. That ego is also why he has a tin ear. He thinks there is no possibility that there is anything to learn from anybody else, since he has all the revealed truth. His cabinet meetings would consist of himself and eight stuffed dummies. Sorry sight.
Newt has been kidding himself for the last 50 pounds!!!
Newt's ego is nearly the size of his belly, and he's convinced himself he is actually fit to lead this country. No, he's in this thing for a time yet.
Jack, I do not think that Gingrich has a chance to win the nomination but he may have a chance to force a different nominee to be nominated. If Gingrich can win most of the southern states and then if Santorum can win the midwestern states as the polls indicate he might do tonight along with Ron Paul siphoning off a few delegates here and there Romney may go into the Republican convention with only a plurality of the votes and not a majority. We would then have the first brokered Repubican convention since Thomas Dewey. As you know, when the convention is brokered the floor is open to nominations of people that were not even running for president. Gingrich may be able to deny Romney the nomination using this scenario. That may be what he has in mind since he seems to have personal issues with Romney.
Newt Gingrich has been kidding himself from day one. His hateful, boastful rhetoric has no place in American politics. The sooner he leaves the public arena, the better for all concerned.
Fort Mill, SC
As an independent, I could never vote for an adulterer.
It appear that Newt will do anything for himself without regards of how it affect others.
His political life is over, get a grip New.
Gingrich is currently in the embarrassing situation of pretending his campaign is still alive. Perhaps if we could convice his super PACs to spare whats left of their money, they could hire Chuck Norris to give him the message. He may listen then!
I think Newt Gingrich is a scary and bad man. He attacks like a junk yard dog, with little regard for accurate facts. I don't know how he got this far, but I sure hope he will be gone for good.
Newt's been kidding himself for a long time. He thinks he's the smartest in the room but his room keeps getting smaller and smaller. I suppose once the room shrinks to only include him, he'll finally be right about something.
Newt is, and always has been, delusional about himself. Yes, he can make a play on delegates come super Tuesday. But to what end? He will never be the Republican nominee. He will never be appointed to a cabinet post. I suppose that's why he supports a colony on the moon. There he can populate it with Callista clones who adore him unequivocably and anoint him King.
From Florida. Jack, why do you or should we care? The voters will decide whether or not Newt is nominated. I'm beginning to think you have a personal vendetta against Gingrich (last question regarding his marriages).
I'd like to know if Ron Paul is drawing his full Congressional salary as he spends all of his time campaigning. Oh yes, is he kidding himself that he can win?
No, Newt is making a mockery of the process and playing the lottery to see if he will land in some position of power after the election which he knows is not his.
Newt is definitely kidding himself. He should just drop out and let the GOP fight it out. Im ready to see Romney and Paul go at it head to head!
It is so sad to watch Newt make a fool of himself. His time has come and gone and he blew it in the 90's. Having Newt run for President, is like asking your Grandfather to come out of retirement and run the business. That being said, it is entertaining to watch the Republicans eat each other up, so I hope they all stay in the race for a long time for the fun of it all!!
Newt along with Herman Cain, Rick Perry, and Michele Bachmann were all kidding themselves when they decided to run for President. Newt, particularly, committed political suicide a long time ago.
Newt is kidding America, not just himself.
I'm a conservative Independant and I'll be voting for Mitt Romney. Newt seems to be too much like Obama- concerned about his OWN hind end, not America's.
Newt- go home and let's get this debate focused on the economy, religous liberty, tax increases and jobs.
Look jack the fact is he's DONE! The next state he could even dream of winning isnt even until super tuesday! Until then he continues to run about like a chicken with his head cut off ranting about romneys "failed policies" mean while he can't even get his own game together!
I think he is definately kidding himself.. I believe people see a full time politician and/or crook. How can you trust a man or openly chooses adultery. Same as Benedict Arnold . Also the fact he was a "consultant" for Fannie mae and Freddie Mac . Maybe, I could believe he is accepting money to sabotage the republican party for presidency.
Gingrich reminds me of my grandfather screaming, "get off my lawn!" His campaign is over and unfortunately his pride will continue to push this embarrassing campaign forward. He needs to move aside. RON PAULL ALL THE WAY!
I agree that Romney has significant momentum but given the vacillations in the polls and in first three States' results, it is fair to conclude that Newt is still rational. But if things don't change in his favor by the end of Super Tuesday and he continues on, then we can declare him as "kidding himself. Fred Weston York, ME
Yes Newt and Mitt are both kidding themselves if they think that their getting the Republican Nomination Both are flip-floppers and both have the same elitist agendas as Our current President Barack H. Obama A.K.A" Barry Saturos"
Newt Gingrich is kidding himself, he is also not showing himself as a leader would. First he whines when things don't go his way, he is attacking anyone that gets in his way or asks what the public wants to hear (I felt bad for John King). Is it only him that can bring forward insults and hammering? He even tried to "show up" Mitt Romney after the Nevada Caucuses by holding a press conference. I give kudos to anyone that puts their, however it is time he hang up his "ego" and stop acting like a child.
I guess he probably is, because the joke's always been on him anyway. He' turned into an angry laughingstock. Ed Burke Auburn, Me.
I don't think Newt is fooling himself at all. He just believes that if he says something often enough and with enough conviction, somehow it will be the truth. So it's just the truth according to Newt Gingrich. That's the way he lives his life and it seems to work for him. His character is still the same. He is arrogrant, mean and self-righteous. A very bad combo. Thankfully most citizens are not as gullible as those in South Carolina. (Wilmington, DE)
That's a question that needs to be asked of all the Republican contenders.
I give kudos to anyone that puts their themselves out there to the public, however it is time he hang up his "ego" and stop acting like a child.
Newt has been kidding himself and us for a long time before today... But maybe it's finally caught up with him, we can only hope.
Newt will keep campaigning as long as Calipso wants him to. On to Tampa Newt and an inglorious, ignoble and infamous end.
Gingrich was kidding himself to even enter the race to begin with. He should know politics well enough by now to know that his record of cruel and adultrous behavior and ethics violations would ever stand up in a campaign. His problem is that he really thinks he's fooling us, too! That's a joke.
Yes, and aside from Sarah Palin and Herman Cain, the hilarious part of it is that Newt is the last one to clue in.
If Gingrich is as smart as people say he is, its not showing. He seems to be a very angry man, and very vindictive. If trust is an issue, how do you trust a man who has cheated twice, one at the same time he was railing against President Clinton for the same thing he was doing. Your past never leaves you. The smartest thing for him to do is get out.
This is what you get when an egotistical megalomaniac tries to win the Republican nomination. Newt's brain is in an alternate universe. He lives in an igloo on the moon. Maybe he hould run for president of the moon. I feel bad for the people who have to work for him. Get a clue, Newt.
Newt Gingrich was kidding himself when he began his campaign. No one with that much baggage will ever get elected in the internet age. Stick a fork in him. He's done.
He's not kidding himself. He's always held himself in very high regard, and in his mind, he's perfectly capable of besting Romney. Couple this sense of grandeur with his vindictive nature and you sense that he will draw this debacle out to an unpleasant, awkward finale. Thus, putting an end to a very angry man's political career.
I think the question should be Is President Obama kidding himself? Newt Gingrich has solutions to the mess
that the Obama administration has created.
Newt thought he could pull the wool over everybody's eyes like he's done in the past. Unfortunately, this seems to be the case with just about all of the GOP candidates anymore. What a sad spectacle the Republican party has become in recent years.
Newt has always seen what he wants to see and do as he pleases. I dont believe for one minute that he believes the things he says. He will pander to those less educated, and use religion to achieve his goal. Lipstick on a pig is still a pig. If he wins, I'm moving to Canada or Europe!
At this point?...... he has been delusional about his chances to receive the nomination from the start. He isn't in touch with his "Likeability. He was unliked in the 90's, Reagan didn't like him, if he keeps beating up Romney, his only friend will be Obama. Thanks Jack, love the show.
Newt Gingrich has a scorched earth mentality. He doesn't care about his party or this country. I hope that no one pays him the big bucks for his consultations or his speeches. Newt please just go away.
Newt didn't exactly excel in the last two debates. He's losing his edge in his strong suit, and his crazy erratic nature is coming more to the fore. He'll stay in the fray however, as long as his supporters like Adelson keep footing the bill. He's driven by an enormous ego, mania, and being terminally PO'd at Romney for releasing his hounds on Newt in Iowa.
At this stage, he's beyond kidding himself. He's deluding himself. Unfortunately, he's also deluding a tragically large population of voters. He's doing nothing positive by staying in the race.
Yes, he is living in a dream world (or perhaps he has already colonized the moon and is just taking frequent trips back to eartch). I do love to watch his "consession speeches," though because you never know what this nut job might say.
Yes. The ethically challenged former Speaker needs to retire and return to K Street. The ultimate D.C. insider running as the fresh and ready outsider is a JOKE. At this point, he seems more determined to ruin the Republican party than he does to resolve any of the many problems facing our country. Thanks but no thanks, moon man.
Prairie Village, Kansas
Jack, Let's be real, this guy's been kidding himself for the last forty or so years. By the next election cycle, he'll be giving us all the new plans for taking control of Mars for America. Layne A. Antioch, Il.
The days of considering Newt as a serious candidate ended long ago. This is really just an exercise in futility. It's painful to watch.
It's time for the leader of the "Immoral Minority" to go home.
Newt Gingrich was kidding himself when he began his campaign. No one with that much baggage will ever get elected in the internet age. Stick a fork in him. He's done.
Yes. I think this is a result of one of the many, many addictions available in the USA, this one being arrogance.
Isn't he the same guy that hired people to make fake tw-itter accounts to boost the number of his followers?
Newt is no longer interested in becoming President; his entire effort since the Florida primary has been to stop Romney. Newt has now revealed his true nature and it is that of contention and division. Newt is only kidding himself if he thinks that the American people will not see what he has become, a petulant hypocrite.
Newt isn't just kidding himself, he is wasting a lot of time and money. The real test of a Republican comes at times like these. Are you in it for yourself, ala Newt, or are you in it to beat Obama? At this point, I'm not going to vote for him and come next party meeting, we need to revoke his card.
Why are we even talking about Newt? He was a lost cause decades ago and since then has just made himself rich off of his Washington connections (or as he calls them "folks in need of a good historian") Newt is a joke now just as he was back then. Good bye Newt...enjoy your new role as yet another crazy talking head on Fox News.
Newt is just an especially arrogant Republican swine. Happily, he will be gone soon.
No, he just can't get over himself.
YES, YES, YES, a thousand times, YES!
Or is Jack just kidding himself that a liberal media isn't trying to swing an election?
While I'm not a Gingrich supporter I do believe Gingrich staying in the race is good for the Republican Party. Only five states have held their primary or caucus. Why should so few decide on the candidate for so many? I'd like to see all four remaining candidates stay in the race until someone has 1,144 delegates.
Yes, the writing is on the wall, he is NOT going to be the Republican candidate. And while I am writing this, I will add, that President Obama is going to be our next President in 2012. We love you Mr President. Hey, Jack like your style.....
Cathy from Holt, Missouri
Every day seems to bring another example of how out of touch and arrogant Newt Gingrich is.
Now, in the Wikipedia case, he is attempting to rewrite history, as if that will somehow wipe the slate clean.
Fortunately, he and his staff can't get into our minds to erase what we already know. And what we know is that Newt Gingrich is unfit to be President of the United States.
Newt beating up on Mittens is only ensuring an Obama victory in 2012. The GOP eat their own.
He thinks he is kidding us.
Newt's not fooling himself, he's fooling US. Like Trump, Bachmann, Cain and the others, this guy is in it for his ego (and for some, a lucrative Fox contract).
I think Newt's time has come and gone. The bad Newt has taken over. Rather than telling voters why we should vote for him, he spends all his time complaining about Romney. If he really cares about the Republican party, he should drop out.
Maybe I'm just being naive, but I miss that feeling that I had as a kid thinking that the President is the best of the best that the nation has to offer. With that in mind, I don't even see how Newt Gingrich is in consideration. Granted we find out our former Presidents may not have always been as perfect as we might have been led to believe (JFK's rumored affairs & Nixon's Watergate scandal come to mind), but at least Presidents in the past have had the good sense to be ashamed of their imperfections and we don't find out until after they're already in office. Why are we lowering our expectations and just letting Newt flaunt his? He was run out of office as Speaker of the House for ETHICS VIOLATIONS. Newt runs around talking about "protecting marriage" when marriage really just needs to be protected from Newt. He is not good enough. We deserve better.
I couldn't disagree more. Normally you're just a grumpy cynical old man, but now you've become a nasty caricature of Andy Rooney. You clearly have it out for Newt and try to frame the story in a way to hurt him. With a front runner who is incredibly weak, both to the Republican electorate and in the primaries, and a primary process that has delivered three different winners so far and is likely to give Romney another bloody nose tonight, no politically sophisticated observer is counting Newt out. Whether he wins or not, and the safe bet says he won't, he will clearly be the second place candidate as the moment he concedes, if he does.
Newt should hang in there, the longer he stays in the more fractured the republicans will become. He will not win another single election. I doubt he could get elected to the local school board at this point.
Newt has said it himself numerous times that he is full of grandious Ideas and Being President is one of them.
Yes. Newt is a well done t-bone.
Gingrich lost touch when he began attacking the media for being "too liberal and too protective of President Obama". Everyone but Gingrich can see the writing on the wall, but one has to wonder how many more third place, fourth place, and fifth place finishes Gingrich has to endure before he finally sees the light and drops out.
Is Newt Gingrich just the disease that has become widespread in American politics because healthy, sane Americans won't jump into the cesspool that is all about politician's JOBS, not about doing the job for citizens.
no, I feel the speaker Gingrich is telling america he is not a quiter. I would not want my president to just throw his hand in the air and walk away from any problem.
When has he not kid himself? The problem with ego is that its hard to see past it when its inflated.
That would be a big fat overwhelming – Affirmative. He's a joke.
Newt is in it for his ego, to run up his speech fees, and to take whatever money is left over from the campaign to his retirement. He is laughing all the way to the bank.
No, I don't think Gingrich is kidding himself. The Republican Establishment and the media want the Republican primary season to be over. They wanted it to be over in early January, immediately after Iowa held its caucuses, and have Romney declared the nominee. The other 49 states don't seem to matter.
Only this morning I listened to one political reporter say that one of states holding its caucuses this month, I forget which one, it might be Missouri, is just a beauty pageant because there are no delegates awarded to the winner. So if Romney wins, he gains no delegates, if he loses, no harm, no foul. Same goes for Gingrich, Santorum, and Paul. But what it does do is help with momentum and it will probably mean more big donations of $$$ to the beauty pageant winner, which will help Gingrich, Santorum, and Paul.
So, no, it isn't over until either Gingrich runs out of money or runs out of deep-pocket donors. If he wants to stay in, that's his choice. The problem is that it has come down to money. Only Richie Richest Rich can buy the oops run for presidency. And that means Romney.
Gingrich has other problems–his lack of ethics, his spoiled fat kid I'll throw a huge hissy fit if I don't get my way mentality, his nastiness and meanness, as well as a lack of a plan for improving things for the country–unless you're in the top 1%.
Come to think of it, that's Romney's problem too (and Paul's and Santorum's). No one on the Republican side has a plan other than to eliminate Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, make cuts or eliminate any dept. or program that aids the country, and to give more tax cuts and benefits to the rich and corporations (corporations are people to Romney), and completely deregulate everything from financial services to health to safety (food, roads, water, etc). Oh, and to kill off what's left of the middle class.
I'm not happy with many of President Obama's decisions/caves, but what the Republicans are offering scare me far, far more, and they're not doing a good job of convincing this Independent to vote for any of them.
I don't think Newt really thinks he can win any more. I think he's just staying in to do as much damage to Romney as he can. Hell hath no fury like a Newt scorned!
What point are you trying to make with the phrase "at this point"?
Lord!....I couldn't believe he ever got in the race in the first place! He's toast!
Jack: You missed the entire point, Newt is positioning himself for VP. It is pretty simple, watch over the coming weeks to see how he makes up with Romney. Newt has a huge ego, he wants the job title.....
Yes. But then again, he's been kidding himself from the very beginning.
What can one say, Jack? Newt's ego, which is the size of a small planet, has blinded him to reality. At this point it is my considered opinion that he is certifiablly delusional.
All the GOP clowns are all kidding themselves...
but newt is the poster boy!
I don't think anyone should count the Speaker out. Admittedly, Romney and Santorum would be more likely to get votes for their trim physiques and handsome looks but if you look beyond those feature, I don't think anyone in the GOP field can measure up to Gingrich. Let's wait to hear the comments coming out of CPAC later this week. I think Newt is by no means finished and will be a contender if not the nominee.
Newt Gingrich lost "touch" long ago. The audacity of a serial adulterer to think the far right wing of the GOP would actually vote for him is ludicrous. Or is it? He won in South Carolina. Perhaps they are used to their leaders committing adultery among other things. Hitobito from Providence, Rhode Island (e.g. the state which is full of corrupt Democrats)
he shouldn't have been given a pass period, the man is scandalous
Gingrich is "The Honey Badger" and 'Honey Badger don't care". he's NOT really running for President. he's in the running for President BUSINESS. more press coverage equals money for speaking fees, book deals, living expenses (Tiffany bling ain't cheap), ect, ect.
he will stay in to the bitter (and I mean REALLY bitter) end.
The one thing this block head doesn't understand is his own reality, so stick a folk in him he's done... According to him he always has his moon base, he just needs a ride, maybe Romney can arrange one...
Newt sounds like Baghdad Ali
Don't be ridiculous Jack, Newt is not the only one who can't see the writing on the wall. His daughters can't either. Yes he is kidding himself but every now and then we must let our seniors have some exposure before we permanently send them into retirement and caution them not to speak or show up in public again.
Whether or not Newt is delusional is irrelevant. All we need to know is that he will not be our next president. What we need to worry about are the other fools who want to put the final nails in out collective coffin.
What you talkin' 'bout Willard?
My opinion is that Newt Gingrich is the only person vying for the GOP candidacy qualified to be President of the United States.
We need a knowledgeable, tough person that has the capacity to deal with the both the economicproblems and international relationmships of our country.
At present, chances seem to be that we are going to end up with either a naive Republican or an undependable
Democrat as President of the USA.
Henri D. Kahn
It's not just Newt. It's the entire Republican party. To beat an elected president you have to have a lot of things go your way. This year will be no different than 1984. A re-electable president, a lame challenger, an improving economy, and the question of "Do you really want those guys in charge again?". The real question is this: Will there be a tea party backlash that costs the GOP the House?
Sure he is, but why is the media obsessed with rushing the results of the primary after only 6 or 7 States hold their primaries? Do they have a shorter attention span than the public they are supposed to inform?
Newt has been kidding himself, and his family about being President...HE'S A "JOKE" to America.
Newt has never been a viable candidate for two reasons. 1) Money 2)Organization. Sure he can find a rich benefactor like Sheldon Adelson but the Republican elite leadership will spend whatever it takes to defeat him. Nobody can stop that wave. As for organization....Newt proved as SOH that he was not capable of running a well orchestrated machine for any length of time. His hubris and arrogance always get the best of him. ALWAYS.
Newt has consistently come in ahead of Ron Paul and Rick Santorum. This is still anyones game but probably leaning towards Romney. The longer these candidates stay in the race they more closely the winner will resemble what real America is looking for.
I truly believe that Newt is mean and vindictive enough that he will keep going simply to diminish Romney's stature. Although I don't think Newt wants to see Obama as president, this has become personal for him, and after Romney's attack ads he simply will not let Romney become president if there is anything he can do about it. The true face of the GOP.
Newt Gingrich is not a stable focused leader, and with 3 separate cases of affairs that we know about, he lacks the moral character to be accepted and trusted.
Yes he is. As big a used car salesman Mitt Romney seems, aat least you might buy the car off of him. I don't think
you could believe anything Newt says, plus he would probably try to seduce your wife in the back seat.
Pickens seem to be slim on this subject. Just about weeded everyone out that will respond to Cafferty.Need to fire those censors and really find out the problems of this country. Quit worrying about the next election.I am betting that we have come to a point that there are enough Americans ,and illegals ,looking for something for nothing ,that Obama is a shoo in next election.
In his own mind, he is a legend. So he trudges along....
Newt Gingrich is making vain attempts to slant Romney's successes against him. Case in point: He has slammed Romney for having such strong financial backing through the Super PACs. Hello? These are independent funding raising organizations who have money to support Romney because obviously people believe in him. He requests and gets donations as small as 5 dollars on up. People of all social classes are supporting Romney. A key problem with Gingrich is that he is accustomed to influencing others- and getting his way- through eloquent arguments. Like a spoiled child, he accuses Romney in broad and general terms because he has no other way to attack without the press and his opponents refuting him. I think Newt Gingrich will go down in history as a colossal spoil sport.
Obviously he is deluding himself! That in-and-of-itself leads me to question his ability as potential Commander-in-Chief.
His ego has him in denial. I am not so sure why he is so hell bent on continuing this other than for ego. If he somehow got the GOP nod, many Republicans would probably stay home in the general while independents flock to the incumbent. He hasn't got a prayer. Romney at least has a prayer.
To the Moon Alice...To the Moon!!! Enough said!
I just wonder if he thinks of himslef as "Little Caesar". Hail Caesar!!
Newt lost this this thing the moment he convinced his kids from his first wife to say that his second wife was lying about his third and temporary wife. We are all now dumber for having newt in this race and may god have mercy on his soul.
It is looking more and more like Newt may have some mental health issues and if this is the case his campaign may not end well.
Newt lost reality when he said this about the wasilla hillbilly:
“Certainly, she is one of the people I would call on for advice,” Gingrich continued. “I would ask her to consider taking a major role in the next administration if I am president,"
I don't understand how the "Christian" GOP can like this guy. 3 marriages, adultery, and a horrible reputation with colleagues doesn't sound like a president who should represent the sacred Tea Party. Then again, they did boo Ron Paul for saying Americans should follow the golden rule when it comes to foreign policy.
Megalomaniacs never kid themselves.
A wasted question. Newt has always kidded himself.
He certainly has a lapse of memory when it comes to family values. He's a vile character who did his best to remove a sitting president for doing the same thing at the same time. He lacks decency and morality, and is too bitter to hold the officer of Presidency. Besides, who wants to go into a third war with the Republicans at the helm. Probably right, Newt is still kidding himself about many things.
Los Angeles, CA
Newt's pulling a Trump on us, plain and simple. The longer Newt can dance on the national stage and command headlines, the more books he'll sell and the higher his speakiing fees will be. In a perfect world the nation would tune him out, but the media still hangs on The Donald's every absurd utterance, so I don't see Newt fading away anytime soon.
Newt is playing a game of chicken not with Mitt Romney but with Rick Santorum. Both Gingrich and Santorum know that there is no chance for either getting the nomination without the other dropping out. Only problem is that Gingrich's ego is too big for him to acknowledge that half of Santorum's support would go to Romney bringing him over 50%. Only a Gingrich withdrawal from the race would give the right wing someone they could coalesce around.
QUIT! Give it up, go home and have another affair.
he's just trying to position himself to impact the republican platform at the convention...
newt is a lying cheat who is not catholic and willard just changed our constitution from freedom of speech to something or other about religion?
Are these clowns getting more stupid by the moment?
At this point, it's best everyone just let Newt believe that he is going to win. I can't wait to hear the next "grand" idea he has for the American people. First a base on the moon, who knows what could be next! It's rather amusing.
Jack, it's not so much that Newt is kidding himself, it's more that he's Delusional. You really have to wonder what color the sky is in newt's world. The self proclaimed historian (not) is only trying to rewrite history, his history, except that there's just so damn much of it that he can't even scratch the surface of everything that he has to rewrite about himself. Newtty should quit now, go away and keep his mouth shut. but of course everyone knows that he can't do that, his ego won't let him. Newt is just a sad sad story.
The Republicans don't want him, the democrats do. Newt can only win, if there are enough cross over voters which seems unlikely. tjz
I can assure you that the swinging and open marriage community is solidly behind Newt.
I think he is trying to fool America. He is a self-absorbed, ego-maniac that is not quite as brilliant as he would have us all believe. Using the word "fundamental" in every sentence does make me believe he is smarter, but I do have to admit, he is sure making the primaries fun and interesting. Please keep it up, Newt.
Jack, Newt is grasping at straws and as always thinking of himself instead of the good of the repblican party. Get out before more damage is done. One has to wonder if Newt is looking forward to running against Obama in 2016
yes and so is romney because president obama will be reelected
He isn't kidding himself, he's completely serious – and that's precisely what should worry the rest of us.
Narcissists don't see reality like normal people.
Newt's arrogance and ego prevent him from withdrawing; either that or he's on the Obama campaign's payroll and charged with sapping republican campaign donations during the race for the nomination so that those dollars won't be available to the eventual republican nominee during the campaign between August and November.
he is blocking for Romney, to keep Ron Paul from advancing.
Newt's unfortunate baggage has held him back. If he were running as a democrat, he would have a chance but as a conservative, there are moral lines drawn and he's willfully jumped over the line not just once, but a number of times. Now he has to pay the consequences of his choices. Though there is forgiveness, yes; there remains a distrust, and a knowledge of his moral weakness that if he could betray his families who he supposedly loved, how much more would he be nclined to betray the American people. He can be anything, but no, not the President of the United States.
Too bad. I find Moonbeam MUCH more likable than Romney. That guy has that used car sales smile that just gives me the willes. There should be an act of congress to prevent anyone from running for office that wants it THAT bad.
He was kidding himself when he joined the race for the Republican party nomination. It surprises me that he lasted this long, which does not speak well for the Republican establishment as a whole.
It's called delusional arrogance.
People who suffer from Narcissistic Personality Disorder are always kidding themselves.
Jack.....Newt Gingrich is not worried. He plans to go to the moon anyway. As a taxpayer, I am willing to allow the federal government to fund his trip to the moon as long as he takes Barack Obama and Joe Biden with him. I would, of course, want one stipulation, and that is they all get a one way ticket. I can see the moon from Newt's backyard.
Newt was kidding himself when he entered the race in the first place. Did he really not think that his past (both professional and personal) would be a problem?
How does the man fit his head through a doorway? Given his ego I'm sure he has no doubts!!!!
Newt is on a personal quest to try and stop Gov. Romney. He is stil angry over the attack ads that have been lobbied against him, and he refuses to see reality. He is such an angry, bitter man that he will try to drag this out as long as possible.
I am not kidding myself. Newt Gingrich, Virginia
Was George Washington kidding himself when most everyone else thought the War of Independence was a lost cause?
Gingrich seems delusional at this point. He seems mystified by the fact that people don't like him, trust him or want him to be President. I'd love to see what the psychiatrists have to say about his Megalomania.
Newt Gingrich is a hopeless doofus!
Definitely. He's the most clueless and disconnected of all the GOP candidates and thats not saying much.
Newt has shown himself to be on the edge of mentally ill and out of touch with reality. It seems he creates his own reality to suit him. As president he would be dangerous. This comes from a lifelong Republican.
Gingrich is a like a balloon of hot air. When you squeeze the balloon it expands in all sorts of differing shapes. In the end, all lthe hot air leaves the balloon. The air warms you for a second if you put the balloon near your face. Ultimately, the ballon loses its hot air and reminds us that mercifully Newt Gingrich will also lose his hot air and hopefully go away.
Not at all! He knows exactly what he is doing. He is so angry at Mitt Romeny, that he will do everything in his power to make sure that even if Mitt wins the party's nomination, Mitt will be so damaged that he may have a hard time beating President Obama. I don't think he cares if the Republicans don't win. He just cares about getting even.
It's a shame, because there are a group of us Democrat voters who plan on voting for Mitt Romney. If Mitt Romney doesn't win the nomination, I'm not sure who I will vote for. I definitely will not be voting for Barack Obama.
Is Newt Gingrich kidding himself, LMAO. He is a bag of rap and everyone knows it, he does not stand a chance.
Newt's ego is larger than the planet. He also has a way of lying to himself. He's planning his victory speech as I write this comment.
Short answer jack: Yes, yes he is. And everyone knows it but him.
Newt Gingrich and his lost cause personifies certain people in this country that refuse to accept facts: Obama is a natural born American citizen, he is a protestant christian, is not a socialist, and has not autorized any 'death squads' for Granny. Republican or Democrat, the facts are the facts.
Newt's done. Romney is a machine.
He kidded himself when he first decided to run. Now he's deluding and outright lying to himself.
Newt is a joke, the problem is that takes so long for his big head to receive messages from his brain. His mouth still thinks he in SC...
not exactly he is so wrapped up in self and ego that he cannot see reality
Eye of Newt is a meglomanic and narcissisist. By definition, these individuals cannot see, or accept, any opinion other than their own, or any outcome other than the one they attempt to create. Newt's another Cheney, except that he's insisting to stand *in front* of the curtain.
Newety looks like a walking question mark.
Newt Gingrich isn't kidding himself, he's kidding everyone who sends him money. This publicity tour of Newt's will help him sell more books and raise his lobbying fees. He's living high on the hog on other people's money while promoting his own brand of intellectual snobbery. He's not kidding anyone, he's milking everyone.
Jack: I really think Gingrich is a brilliant man – so brilliant that he is actually part of the Democratic party and is endeavoring to "mutilate" Romney's personna so there will no chance in the fall of a Republican getting close to the White House.
Love your comments!!
he is dellusional, perhaps even becoming sinile.
Newt has been kidding himself all along. He is not and has never been Presidential. S'long, Newt!
