FROM CNN's Jack Cafferty:
Three marriages and two divorces later, it turns out Newt Gingrich might have a real problem with women. Go figure.
As part of the beating he took in Florida on Tuesday night, Gingrich was abandoned in large part by female voters.
Exit polls in the Sunshine State showed Romney getting 52% of women Republican voters, compared to only 28% for Gingrich - a 24-point margin. It was also a turnaround from South Carolina, where Gingrich won the women's vote.
Florida exit polls also showed Romney led Gingrich among married women by more than 20 percentage points. Among male voters, Gingrich trailed Romney by only 5 percentage points. Appears to be a gender gap.
It's no secret that Gingrich has been saddled with this personal baggage from the start of the race.
And he's been quick to own up to it, saying that he's done things he regrets, but it's all in the past. Gingrich talks about making peace with God and likes to describe himself as a 68-year-old grandfather.
But at the end of the day, maybe women voters just can't make peace with an adulterer who left his first wife, who was being treated for cancer, for his second wife; and left his second wife, who was fighting multiple sclerosis, for his third wife.
It actually looked like these issues might come crashing down on Gingrich before the South Carolina primary, when his second ex-wife told ABC News he had asked her for an open marriage. But in the end, South Carolina voters brushed it off.
But now that the women voters of Florida have spoken, it remains to be seen if women in the rest of the country will give him a pass.
Here’s my question to you: Does Newt Gingrich have a problem with women?
Interested to know which ones made it on air?
Mack in Michigan:
I can’t speak for the other 120 million or so women he hasn't had an affair with yet, but the one I'm married to doesn’t like snakes, spiders, and lizards. And she thinks A Newt is at least two out of those three!
Bob in New York:
Wrong question, Jack. Newt doesn’t have a problem with women. He marries them, dumps them when they get sick, and has affairs with other women while he’s married. The right question is whether women have a problem with Newt Gingrich.
Annie in Atlanta:
He does with this woman, and it's not just the adulterer in him that makes my skin crawl. I find his divisive, hateful rhetoric compounded by a blown-up sense of self- importance repulsive. I think of it as an "ick factor." Ewww.
Don in St. Louis:
We sweat the petty stuff too much in this country. A federal government completely out of control. A monumental debt that threatens our financial stability. Millions of people out of work. Let's get the country back on track and then consider these trivialities. If Newt or any other candidate can work to fix the truly important issues in the country, but carries a few marital anomalies, I'm okay with that.
Nick in Texas:
We should let his ex-wives answer that question. The man has no respect for women; he has proven that more than once. So he better not count on women to give him that push he needs. Actually he needs a shove right out of the GOP race. I don't want to call him a pig, because you might not read my comment, but you know what, he is a PIG!
Lloyd in North Carolina:
South Carolina women are more accepting of open marriages than Florida women. They are used to husbands who go for long hikes on the Appalachian Trail.
It depends on the value of the Tiffany jewels he gifts them with.
How many men would admit to that?
No, with all his marriages sounds like he is doing fine, but women have a problem with him being unfaithfull to his former wives. He is a dirt bag when it comes to the way he treated his ex-s but vote for him anyway because politics has nothing to do with being faithfull, honest, truthfull, honorable, etc. etc. etc.
Newtered! I love that Newt got it handed to him in Florida last night – especially by the women voters. I guess neutered is what you deserve after 6 years of extramarital affairs...
I cant speak for the other 120million or so women he hasn't had an affair with yet, but the one I'm married to doesnt like snakes, spiders, and lizards and she thinks A Newt is at least two out of those three!
The only problem Gingrich has with women is staying married to them and being faithful. Other than that he gets along fine with women. The women voters on the other hand can't stand him.
I think Newt has a problem with any one or any group that disagrees with Newt's ideas, Jack. I don't think you can limit it to women alone.
You think? the man has too many problems to even mention- he's a walking time bomb
Newt is not going to win the battle for womens votes against the super good looking, Eddie Munster look alike, Mitt Romny, even if he hadn't been married 2 times before. But maybe he can sing, No Woman No Cry, by Bob Marley. We shall see. Doug, Pepperell, MA.
This one is just too easy, Jack. I would like to believe that 99% of American women find this man horribly offensive and/or repulsive. Unfortunately, that leaves 3.7 million for him to choose from. So I guess from his point of view, no problem.
Only with the ones that don't like him – which seems to be almost all of them.
He does with this woman, and it's not just the adulterer in him that makes my skin crawl. I find his divisive hateful rhetoric compounded by a blown-up sense of self importance repulsive. I think of it as an "ick factor." Ewww.
Being on his third marriage I would say "Decidedly YES" Jack. And this PARAPROSDOKIAN (there's a $6 dollar word for you) fits Newt Gingrich to a "T". "BEHIND EVERY SUCCESSFUL MAN IS HIS WOMAN. BEHIND THE FALL OF A SUCCESSFUL MAN IS USUALLY ANOTHER WOMAN". (In Newt's case, it's TWO other women).
Gary in Scottsdale, Arizona
tampa, fl most women will date a no good, two timing, philanderer as long as he has money and power no matter what age he is, or already being married. a sad but true fact, but they don't have to vote for one though.
Actually it is women that have a problem with Gingrich. It does not mater how repentant Gingrich tries to pass himself off as or how reformed and new and improved he tries to spin his past. His record speaks for itself. A leopard can not change his spots anymore then Gingrich can change the way he is. If voters don't find a problem with Gingrich and his past then they will vote for him. Unfortunately apparently voters do take issue with his past. There is an old saying that goes, " Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me".
Of course he has issues with women... he doesn't believe they should serve on the front line in the military. He says they get "infections" every month... obviously if the man doesn't understand or care to understand female anatomy, which most fifth graders can understand, he has an issue with women. As a woman he will not get my vote for president of a local PTO, let alone president of the United States!
Newt have a problem with women? Whatever do you mean? It's not just women he talks down to, Newt talks down to everyone.
According to the polls, apparently he does. Mostly, Newt has a problem with Newt. Until he gets a serious campaign manager, raises serious money and builds a serious organization, he can't be taken seriously. Non-traditional campaigns (like third party efforts) are for candidates who otherwise should not be running. They are designed to make a statement, not win. No one is sure what statement Newt is trying to make.
As South Carolina, part of the country may brush it aside while the rest of the women do as in Florida.
Newt does have a problem with women, but with the help of Santorum and Ron Paul, Newt may keep Romney from getting over 45% of the vote.
The convention will have to decide.
It's all in the past! Newt himself is in the past. Apparently he thinks the people in this country are stupid. He shold go back to what he does best-changing wives.
Does a dog have problems with cats?
It's the women who have a problem with Newt.
No, Jack. He apparently has all the women he wants.
Newt not only has women problems but men too. Think he has a chance? If Mitt keeps shooting himself in the foot, it keeps Newt longer, but his entire campaign is a joke, even the speeches when he loses.
Gingrich's bigger problem is that he acts like a bully, and regardless of what his romantic involvements have been, women are a lot less forgiving of a "nice" adulterer than they are of a "mean" one. Gingrich just doesn't come across as a particularly nice person and that's what hurts him with women.
I'm sure he has a problem with women. It would be interesting to see if moderate Republican women will support the party ticket if he is the nominee. If and until then they will support someone other than Gingrich, mostly Romney. I'm also sure Gingrich has a problem with independents, men and women. Why can't we have None of the Above on the ballot as a viable option to all that are running?
I would think he should.
Nothing against his current wife, but it would seem to me that introducing yourself to a woman as a repeated adulterer followed up by the ...but "Ive made peace with God", and I'm a born again whatever, cop out....wouldn't result in many of the opposite sex banging on his door looking for a long term relationship as husband... or the leader of this country.
Newt is no woman's friend. Forget the ethical stuff and fines and even pointing fingers at Clinton while in bed with number 2, he is done and needs to get over himself and retire to being a 68 year old grandfather... period.
Jack, i don,t think so, i think women have prblem NEWT.
What Republican doesn't?
Lots of smart women (and men) have trouble with the Grinch's grandiose narcissism. Married women are that much more disgusted with his history of insincerity and infidelity.
Carol in Northampton, Ma
While I am not a Republican and would not have voted for Newt anyway. That being said, I've been cheated on, and to me, cheating ranks up there with murder (that's for me). Nineteen eighty-six was the worse year of my life. That was when I found out the same thing was happening behind my back. Among other really idiotic things Newton says, i.e., colonizing the moon, sending children to work as janitors after the unionized janitor is fired, first for starters.
I think the three women who married him have a problem. Bad taste in men.
Oh Gosh Jack,That is so silly.....................who knows.Poor ole Newt needs to go on home and be happy. If I was a woman I would not vote for him and I do mean to be polite.
No Jack The question should be do women have a problem with Newt.
And the answer is three strike's and your out.
Wrong question Jack. Newt doesn’t have a problem with women. He marries them, dumps them when they get sick, and has affairs with other women while he’s married. The right question is whether women have a problem with Newt Gingrich.
I don't think so, he's married to one.
The question is not the one you posed, but rather "Do women have a problem with Newt?"
Of COURSE Newt has a problem with women. He seems to have a problem with most women he isn't currently married to, and even though he's a "68-year-old grandfather," he's now married to a woman who's young enough to be his daughter (and who was first his mistress). And if SHE gets sick, he'll probably divorce HER, too.
Hi Jack. Those South Carolina women are part of what Reagan called the “Moral Majority” and their brushing off Newt’s desire for an open marriage makes clear Newt has no women problem inside the GOP. There is a black man living inside the White House and nothing else matters, not the Jobs Bill, not middle class tax cuts, not morals; nothing else but finding a white man to replace him with.
Newt stood up and owned of to mistakes and acknowledged that he made some mistakes that he regrets but he never demonstrated a contrite heart by specifically stating what mistakes he was owning up to or what he regrets and why he regrets. He never stated that he would never return to that old person as he was a new person. He merely stated that it was in the past and that he was now a Grandfather. I suspect that women want to know that his old behavior will stay in the past and talk about his new found respect and appreciation for women. Women wanted to hear why being a Grandfather has changed his character. Women wanted to know that the hiprociscy Newt demonstrated/exhibited during the impeachments process of Bill Clinton for cheating on his wife with Monica Lewinski.
Newt loves women...Lots of them!!
We should let his Ex- Wives answer that question. The man has no respect for females, he has proven that more then once. So he better not count on women to give him that push he needs. Actually he needs a shove right out of the GOP race. I don't want to call him a Pig, cause you might not read my comment, but you know what , he is a PIG!!!
Gingrich has no problem with women. He has not met one he did not like. He has a problems with morals and how you treat people. Sleeping with a mistress while married and leading the impeachment of Clinton for less. Then when wives get sick he throws them off of his insurance coverage to die. Shameful, but a clear indication of what American citizens would face if he were in any office able to influence public policy
For better or for worse, the first and most important relationship we have is with our mother. Newt had no father for the first three years. His mother was sixteen when she got pregnant with Newt, a child raising a child. Not every teenager can pull that off. When you put that together with Newt's idea that children of unwed mothers should be raised in orphanages, it makes you wonder if Newt has a problem with women rather than women having a problem with Newt. Freud knew a thing or two.
No, Jack, hey have a problem with him!
We sweat the petty stuff too much in this country. A federal government completely out of control. A monumental debt that threatens our financial stability. Millions of people out of work. Let's get the country back on track and then consider these trivialities. If Newt or any other candidate can work to fix the truly important issues in the country, but carries a few marital anomolies, I'm okay with that. I'm more concerned with what a candidate can do to bring us out of the rut we are in. I see character flaws in all the candidates, both Democratic and Republican. Focus on fixing my country and I'll accept my philosophical differences with the personal lives of the candidate.
My issues with Newt is not his divorces. However, a first lady who was involved with a married man is not my idea of a female role model for America. She willingly had a relationship with a married man and now would like to be our first lady. I dont think so. If it is between her and Michelle Obama, my republican vote would turn democratic.
No, he gets along just fine with them. Sometimes with more than one at a time.
TRUST is the issue and his proven behaviors are no excuse that would lead me to trust him. Trusting him as either the man next door or the next President of U$A. I personally feel this gender determination also has other variables that have not been mentioned. I feel education, race, age, and prior experience should be determined in an affective survey. And as you get towards the top, you will find most women dismiss him as a fool!
Newt does not get any "pass" from me. You forgot to mention that the wife he asked for an open marriage also told that Calista was willing to "go along" with the idea. That's no moral values for our First Lady "wanna be." Newt and Calista are not going to elbow their way into having fun "hanging out" in our White House. My suggestion to them and more fitting for their life style–buy some tickets and Cruise off into the sunset.
Newt has a problem with just about any rational being who actually pays at least passing attention to what he's actually saying.
Absolutely yes! No woman in her right mind would support this dolt.
Yes, once a better one comes along...he has a problem keeping his hands off of them.
No, Newt doesn't have a problem with women. Newt has a problem with character. Newt's mistreatment of women in his life is simply one manifestation of the chilling calculus of entitlement that he applies to decision-making.
His multiple failures to commit to marriage vows shows that he is capable of both lying to himself AND believing it. Very scary qualities for a would-be president. I know many women who would never, ever vote for him.
who really cares either way this guy;s a loser
Jack, you could parse any way you like but the point is, Newt doesn't have any one specific problem. Newt is THE problem. Period.
When a man's own WIFE doesn't think he's trustworthy, does he really expect women voters to trust him to run our country? And, having a former mistress/home-wrecker as first lady doesn't go over very well, either. Just sayin'.
Indeed Gingrich has a problem with THIS woman. First of all, I remember his time in Congress and how he was censured by his own team players. Not presidential material! Second, I find that his inhumanity to the women who supported him, married him, is unforgivable. If a man leaves one wife because she has cancer, and he leaves another wife because she has MS, how will he treat the rest of the women in America? Why are his own needs so great that he can turn his back on loved ones in great need? This is monstrous, not presidential.
No, Gingrich seems to have no problem at all with women. He's been with at least three of them, and that only counts the ones he married.
No, every time he wants a new wife or girl friend he has no problem finding a replacement.
Of course not.....women have a problem with him!! Noot.....Denial, is not just a river in Egypt. But, thanks for keep'n us laughing. You are creating jobs, though......all the comedians are working overtime.
"Does Newt Gingrich have a problem with women?'
I don't think it's women. I think it's really himself he has trouble with. From all I can gather, neither of his previous wives gave him any grief. He took the initiative to destroy those relationships himself. I also believe he thought that their health issues would consume more of his time, time that he wanted to use to further his personal political ambitions. Too much baggage for him I guess.
I will never leave my wife for anything, or anybody. My wedding vows still mean a great deal to me.
Politically or personally, the answer is yes. The Newt is a serial adulterer. Doesn't take rocket science to figure that much out, Jack.
Yes – he cannot divorce his personal life from his professional life. He was not loyal to his previous wives, so it is likely that he will not be loyal to his constituents – us – if he somehow finds himself back in elected office. You want to make the country great again, Mr Speaker? Make yourself an exemplary individual first, then we'll see.
Dear US citizen – Men or Women
1) if you pride yourself as a religious conservative, you must know that you sold your soul and principle when you side with Gingrich.
2) The president office should be rewarded to one with high moral and family value that walked the walk . It should a shiny example of good moral and decency of family value. a three time cheater and a bimbo home wreker does not deserve such high honor and shold not be. if Newt and his bimbo ever even get to the republication it would be same on the republican and same to the US if he ever get elected.
"It was also a turnaround from South Carolina, where Gingrich won the women's vote. "
Well in SC women just do what the men tell them to do. The subservient Southern woman is alive and well there. Women couldn't even vote there until 1969. SC isn't a reflection of America, unless you mean America in 1950, just without the lynchings, police beatings, and overt segregation.
Florida is more of the reflection of America, and yes Newt, is going to have problems in the rest of the country, outside of the SC, GA, MS, AL, and LA southern red states..
Newt has a problem alright and it's with his pants. He can't keep them on. Glad he asked God for forgiveness but God doesn't vote. Also, in all honesty voters are squeamish about having a First Lady that is also The Other Woman.
Obviously 28% of female Republican voters in Florida have no self-respect.
Does Gingrich have a problem with women? Do bears poop in the woods???
It seems to me, more than anything, Newt has a problem with commitment, loyalty, respect and trust- all the things that go into a good strong marriage-
I think Newt has a tremendos character flaw. He is a hypocrite- spousing "family values" when he has abandones 2 sick wives! In addition, he does not give us credit for being informed- what about a failure at leadership that forced him to resign his House Speaker position? The nerve of the guy!
YES he does. Don't know if I want him leading the country when he couldn't run/lead/get along with Households/families//wives. Sounds like Republican Women put him in his place. Hmmmm, But Democratic Women had no problem voting for a President that was a womanizer, sneaked around on his wife, and lied.....What does that mean????
Who cares if he has a problem with women? He has a problem with ME because I'd never vote for him.
No, Newt does not have a problem with women. Women have a problem with Newt.
I am one woman who has a problem with him. He has used and discarded 2 wives for younger women to further his political career. He parades his current trophy wife around like a farmer leading his cow.. However the real reason I wont vote for him is because this shows he is not true to his word, and when it suits him he will break a promise. He has been caught out in several lies and I believe he has low moral character.
Newt has a problem being Newt. He can't stop himself from running off at the mouth. A colony on the moon? Just when some people might have thought that he was a serious candidate he says that!
From NY, NY
Newt is completely out of touch with people of both genders. He slams Romney for brutal attack ads while delivering his own against Romney, his own party sent him packing in the 1990s, and he wants to build a moon base. While men may be willing to overlook these things because Newt is considered a strong leader, women aren't willing to do so. They can spot a bad apple when they see it. from Riverside, CA
newt is an idea man; the women don't like his ideas, specially of open marriage.
Newt Gingrich has so many problems, I'd say women aren't alone in being a demographic that just can't get behind him. In fact, I'd say most of the country owns that particular "members only" jacket. However, it is refreshing to see that there's still accountability in this great nation of ours...
Newt has a problem with all carbon based life forms.
Yep, he does Jack. His problem is that he is courting Tea Party voters who think that a serial adulterer is preferable to a sitting President who dotes on his family. It makes the Tea Party look ridiculous and certainly won't wash with independents. Writing from somewhere north of Boston, MA.
Perhaps the better question is whether women have a problem with Gingrich.
He doesn't have a problem with women. They have a problem with him! Now that's a problem!
Newtie has two major problems; the first is with the rest of the human race that is not Newt Gingrich. The second is with reality. Does he really think that the American voting public has forgotten and forgiven him for his war on the poor, ill and elderly also known as the Contract with America.
I have a real serious problem with men like Gingerich who used and was unfaithful to his first 2 wives (read between the lines, huh?). I'm not saying that people can't or don't change, but I'd prefer to vote for someone who has understood honesty and character and integrity and faithfulness to vows for all of his or her adult life.
Are you kidding me, Jack? In my home, 'She-who-rules' doesn't have much use for any of the field (from either party). But, 'She-who-rules' has particular disdain for Gingrich.. 'She-who-rules' referes to him as nothing but a dirty old man with a big ego. Does that answer your question, Jack?
It's not a "women" problem, it's a "people" problem..
Does Newt Gingrich have a problem with women?
No Jack, Newt LOVES them.. 3 wives full...
Actually Jack, it seems to me that the GOP HATES American Women.
They don't want us to have equal pay for equal work
They don't want the poor of us to have health care with Planned Parenthood
They don't want us to vote so they defund ACORN
They don't want us to be educated so they defund the PELL Grant
They want to force us to carry a fetus to term from rape or incest or cirrcumstances
They defund welfare for those that keep their babies showing that they care only for the fetus and NOT the child
They want us to be Stepford wives, barefoot and in the kitchen, only saying 'yes dear' to their morally corrupt mates
This is the GOP today and that is why I am NOT a member of that party!
Newt is not the only one.. Look at Mittens, Santorum and Paul.. all equally shameful
Newt seems to have had a problem with women for a very, very long time. Any man who can commit adultery over and over again has NO respect for women. Hence, NO woman should respect him nor should she vote for him.
Yes, Newt has major issue with women. In addition to the sad story about his wife (ill). He had affair whe he was still married with his first wife and married his mistress....and he repeated again with his secoond wife and married his mistress.
Can anyone trusts Newt?
I don't know about a problem with women but he certainly has a problem with the truth. As a father and, admittedly, one who will never be at risk for beatification, I am appalled that Gingrich would bring his daughters in to "verify" his version of a private conversation he had with their stepmother.
Teddy Kennedy was no saint but he had some class. He would never have involved his children in a public dispute with another family member. To quote that great philosoper, Bugs Bunny ..."What a maroon. What an ultra-maroon!"
Newt has MANY problems... women is just one of them.
Newt doesn't have a problem with women....women are Newt's problem! Just look at his own personal track record...so to speak!
Pat Buchanan said the same thing about gingrinch. It'll all come out before November as will the case for romney when it is revealed that during some yrs he paid 0% in taxes. Get 'em and gut 'em. The whole lot of the gob fat cats.
Besides women having problem with Gingrich's adulterous past, women should also have problem with his current wife who had adulterous relationship with Gingrich for years as a mistress, and who Gingrich said she was okay with an open marriage of him and the second wife. Women voters cannot accept a woman with such low character and adulterous past as their First Lady in the White House. Besides, they want a better role model of the First Lady for their children especially their daughters and grand-daughters.
This is due to the natural result of IF he wins, an "other woman" gets to be first lady. Women are always catty, and Newt is a chump.
50%+ Marriages in the USA end in divorce and responsible, traditional legal marriage is becoming a thing of the past.
At least Newt does not try to hide his marriages. He has a relatively open past concerning women.
His ability to lead our country with his incredible knowlege, gumption and savvy wouild do us well in negotiating
with our enemies and allies as well. His understanding of economy will be important to our economy.
Women??????How about Bill Clinton, JFK and other presidenrts who had secret affairs?
I seriously can't believe conservatives are voting for Newt! It seems ashamed that evangelicals would vote for him just because the other guy is a Mormon (who by the way as only been married once)! Sorry Newt, but if haven't been able to stay true to your wives how can we trust you to keep your word about anything you are saying?
I think Gingrich has a problem, period. With women, and with himself. He is just not fit for any office forget about white house!!
My stomach turns in disgust everytime I see a pic of this cretin. Family Values??? yeah right!!! And the "other woman" for possibly the first LADY??? Really??? I don't see hell freezing over....
Does a serial adulterer have a problem with women? Is the sky blue? Is water wet? Duhhhh!!!
He has a problem with this woman – not because of his hypocrisy and overdone "got religion" current schtick but because he hasn't a clue about the reality of what is needed to bring this country together and move forward. His campaign is all about Newt. We need a president who is all about America.
Following his failed run for the GOP Nomination, Newt Gingrich signs deal with Fox: "World's Ugliest Player" or " Gomer's got Game." How he gets so much tail is beyond me.
Newt has a problem with character and integrity; failure of commitment and adultery are just the symptoms.
Newt has a big problem with any rational human beings who despise Hypocrisy. He is a grand hypocrit and although he is entitled to his personal choices in life he seems to never walk his talk. It is important that we are able to have some trust in a president and Newt has proven to be one of the worst hypocrits of our time.
I think that not only does Newt have an issue with women, he has an issue with ethics in general. He was thrown out of the Congress for Ethics violations. He's been unfaithful to two wives, and we don't know about the third. He has no ethics. What makes ANYONE believe he could be an upstanding President with his lack of ethics? It is all beyond me!
Women in general should have a problem with the whole Republican field, but Newt stands out as a prime example of what is wrong with the GOP field.
Newt Gingrich's "problem with women" is a reflection of values important to women – that is trust, and security. How can one trust, and feel secure with a man who abandon his wives when he was needed the most?
Newt doesn't have a problem with women.
Women have a problem with Newt, and rightfully so, considering the way he treated his ex's.
I don't know about women, but as a man I take marriage as seriously as anyone. It is supposed to be in SICKNESS and in health. In the end it reflects on any person when they make any kind of commitment towards someone and then bails on it when you are supposed to be upholding your end of it.
Jack: My wife, who typically has no problem with celebrities leaving each other sometimes on a serial basis as long as they support one another (and the children, if any), thinks Newt Gingrich is a creep. It has everything to do with how he behaves. She cannot forgive a man "abandoning" his spouse and family as Newt appears to have done at least twice. Also, she read the article about how Newt's "first" family had to depend on the local church for food and support until Newt was forced to provide for themt. This she finds unforgivable.
I can't say that his married life is admirable. However, we need someone who can fix this country! So, frankly, I don't care much about his marriage history if he can solve some of this country's problems. In all honestly, if we judged all the country's presidents on the basis of Gingrich's domestic relations, we would not have had John F Kennedy, Franklin Delano Roosevelt, Dwight D. Eisenhower, Thomas Jefferson, etc., all of whom had personal relationships that were questionable.
I agree that he will have a big problem with the female vote but what I don't understand is why very little is made of his refusal to financially support his children. CNN posted on their web site the actual documents that showed it required litigation for him to step up. It's not as sexy but certainly a big issue for someone who runs on family values.
I'm not a woman or a married man but my Mother commented on how my Father of 40+ years of marriage spoiled her even when she's been through 10 major leg operations including 4 right hip replacements. If he didn't pass away from a heart attack last year they'd still be together.
Gingrich's choices earlier in life are now coming home to roost in his presidential bid. He couldn't keep his oath to his first and second wife for better or worse, rich or poor, sickness and health. How could he be expected to keep something like the oath of office for the presidency? Romney has proven he can at least keep an oath since he's still on wife #1. That says a lot.
Newt's problem is not women. His problem is himself. He is an egotistical, self-centered, bombastic, total looser. How he has gotten this far, I will never know.
A man can change but part of the repentance process it to try to rectify what you did and according to his other wives they have never recieved even an apology. That he attacked Clinton for his illicit behavior whie he was in an adulterous affair with a woman 23 years younger is hypocrisy at its worst. I don't know how he defines "conservative" but he has not shown he is a moral conservative and that is a serious problem for most wormen.
Newt has a problem with integrity overall, from women to colleagues to the American people. Consider that he was the first sitting Speaker of the House to be reprimanded for ethics violations. ($300K fine) The bipartisan report stated, "(O)ver a number of years and in a number of situations, Mr. Gingrich showed a disregard and lack of respect for the standards of conduct that applied to his activities." Strangely, that didn't seem to bother him. Should NG win the GOP Primary, this Independent may have to vote for Obama.
Ya Think? He's a bombastic, imperious, self aggrandizing, homophobic, misogynist blow hard. The only place he should be elected to is the Hall of Shame!
Who in their rightful mind would even look at him????????????? Please get out of our lives now!!!
Yes, he has a big problem with any woman with a brain. He should quit politics and be a pitchman for neuticles.
He probably does, but who doesn't? The fact that he has had numerous wifes and married his mistress makes him more of a genuine person and not some slick talking politician. When was the last time this country elected a president with his record with women? Maybe we should look at Newt's personal relationships with women as an asset.
Somehow ole Newt is not getting message. Florida voters have spoken; the House spoke when they sent him packing and he will hear the same tune in other states as well. His ego is the driving force now for the White House.
Newt doesn't have a problem with women. He'll love any of them that'll love him back. Perhasps the ones that voted for him in SC have all messed around behind their hubbies, so for them it's no big deal. Why, if God fogives you all the time, why lead a moral and ethical life? Have fun, then when caught, hang your head and say you're sorry. No problem.
As a monogamous husband who has been faithful to my lovely wife for 43 years; you better believe that Newt has a problem with married women, and with married men as well. Poor moral behavior quickly descends to poor ethical behavior. Newt is a poor example to our children!
I really do not want to see this philanderer and his mistress in the White House. I cannot imagine any woman voting for a man who slept with his mistress in the same bed he shared with his wife. Disgusting!
Gingrich has a problem with anybody who doesn't immediately give him exactly what he wants, complete with a smile on their face. That includes wife #1 (Newt never wanted cancer, and oncology patients rarely smile) and wife #2 (Newt never wanted MS, and MS sufferers often aren't solicitous). It also includes CNN's John King (Newt never wanted that inconvenient question) and the voters of every primary or caucus state so far. (Latrobe, PA)
Does Kim Kardashian have a problem with Husbands?
Ya think? But what of the Republican group doesn't? Gingrich has no respect at all. Romney hasn't a clue due to his "religion". Santorum wants to take up residence in our wombs and deny contraception availability. And lastly, Paul is totally in another century for just about everything. Scary group of guys!
Grandchildren can't chose their grandparents and grandparents shouldn't use them to score points. Newt's moral compass is still off and I don't think he understands the meaning of making peace with God.
Adulterer = NOT conservative!
Ladies, run from this man...
Let's ask this question with a slightly different spin. How many women have a problem with Newt Gingrich?
Well, Herman Cain endorsed New Gingrich that makes him looks bad. I am sure he will be dropping out anytime.
Jack Newt has a problem with everybody not only women, its a matter of time he will self destruct.
Of course he does! His long term history with marriage and divorce women should be highly offended with how he acts towered women. He does not deserve their vote!
Newt has a problem with all voters- men and women
Definitely! But his biggest problems are his gigantic ego, impaired memory, and lack of shame.
The obvious answer is that Newt does not have a problem with women, they have a problem with him. I never had a problem approaching women at bars, but they sure as heck had a problem with me approaching them. Guess women do have a 6th sense.
Gingrich has a problem with anyone who believes that good character is an important qualifier for the office of president.
Gingrich definitely has a problem with women. Think about it, he left his first wife when she was fighting cancer, to fall for his second wife. Then, when she's diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, he leaves her for his now current wife. It's no surprise that women voters have fallen away from him. Anyone who can leave wives fighting ailments like he did would not be a good choice for president. If I were his current wife, I'd make sure to outlive him.
Family values I don't think so,I wouldn't vote for you, tooo much baggage with women, what I have read about him how he treats women NO THANK YOU
Jack the question is, "Does New Gingrich have a problem with sick women?"
He sure does have a problem, but it's not with Women – it's with himself, since he seems to think he is God's gift to them!!!
Sure, but I am sure he will keep trying, divorcing and marrying, until he finds one to his liking (read that as – to do his bidding).
Evidently not! This evil Yoda seems to have had more than his share of women.
Gingrich doesn't have a problem with women, women have a problem with him! He's made it clear he's made mistakes in his past, but there is no possible way he will be able to win the women's vote after everyone blowing up his previous marriages and their issues.
no... but voting women SHOULD have a problem with him.... in fact all voters should... people who have demonstrated immoral behavior don't stop... they just get better at not getting caught... and Gingrich is on the record as a repeat offender...
peer oliphant... las vegas, NV
It's hard to swallow that Newt is a faithful and trusting man, let alone a candidate when he's had 3 marriages. Compare New to candidate Ron Paul, who celebrates 55 years of marriage with his wife today, Newt-er simply doesn't measure up.
Does Newt have a problem with women? I think the question is, how many problems do women have with Newt?
He has a problem with an apparently overly amorous part of his male anatomy. Also weak self control.
Gingrich thinks it's in the past because he's got his bottle-blond trophy wife and, without his own bottle (of Viagra) he's too old to care anymore. But the way he has lived his life speaks volumes about his character, which he would know if he had any. He's a walking page out of a psychology textbook who hit his mid-life crisis a little too early in life to be believable now.
SC women are more accepting of Open Marriages than Fla. women. They are used to husbands who go for Long Hikes on the Appalachian Trail.
Newt has a problem, not just with women, but with Americans in general. You can't claim to be the family values candidate and then publicly stand with your third wife, who was your mistress while you spew hatred and race baiting. Newt doesn't respect the office of President, so how can he hold it is what "WE" women and "WE" the people would like to address.
Let me put it this way, I tell it like it is.
Newt has a problem with Newt...period!
Ask any girl that he ever knew, they'll say: "Keep away from Runaround Newt!"
Gingrich turned to GOD for forgiveness but failed to realize that women are not GOD and as such they do not have to be as forgiving. May be he has not had enough women yet to realize it yet.
Newt doesn't have a problem with women, Newt has a problem with himself. He is just a very insecure person, that uses cockiness to cover it up and try to make it look like confidence. Apparently he fooled a couple of women, but not everyone is buying into it.
Newt knows where a women's place is and that is to stay at home and support him.
Only if he's considering getting elected...
When Bill Clinton had issues with women, the republicans felt he lacked a moral compass. How any republican can feel Newt has a moral compass is mind-boggling. He's a repeat adulterer that tried to "explain" his behavior on his patriotism! And, I must add his wife is ALSO a problem for me. She KNEW she was fooling around with a married man...the sleaze fact goes to BOTH of this people!
Newt needs a 'treatment' center for character disorder....so does Romney...they both have a problem with 'telling the truth'. Every time they open their mouths the distorted facts come tumbling out...then then go back and try to explain themselves and 'change their story'....much like two little guys in kindergarten who get caught and don't quite have the skills to lie....
Gingrich has zero respect for women. Use and abuse should be his motto. Scumbag should be his middle name and the fact that anyone in this country can forgive a man like him has to have their head and morals examined. To think that he and that hoe he's married to ever have a shot at living in our whitehouse running this country shows me we've stopped to a new low.
He does with my woman, she's a democrat.
A problem with women? How about the 10 Commandants? Not once, but twice no less. So if he is elected as our president (God forbid) and he gets tired of congress what's he going to do? Leave? How can anyone even think he would be true to his country?
Newt doesnt know boundaries !!! Verbally or in his actions !!!
Mr. Gingrich has a problem not only with women, but also an ego problem where his political aspirations are greater than any vows he takes or any change in attitude. In other words, the man would do anything as long as it would support his political and egotistical agenda.
I think Mr. Gingrich lacks moral character. He thinks he can talk or lie his way to presidency. He is wrong!!!
He should have a problem with anyone let alone women. The things that he has said and done makes me think that he is passed cracked but mentally deranged.
With 3 wives Jack, where's the problem? It's keeping them happy, there's the problem!!
Maybe, we women, do not want a woman who had an affair with a married man for 6 years to be our first lady. The Gingich traditional marriage seems to be a man and 2 women.
Better question should be "Do women have a problem with Newt?" My answer as a woman, yes! But you know what, even a man should have a problem with a lying cheating politician in the white house just as much as any woman should. Make a mistake once sure, but continuously? All the cheating, lying, ethics violations, etc... we don't need someone like that in the white house to lead our country.
Newt definitly has a problem with women, i mean what kind of man drops his wife the minute she is sick for someone new? Doesn't the phrase "In sickness and in health" mean anything anymore? He does not have the character of a man needed in the white house and without the support of women voters he has no chance of even being nominated let alone winning the election in November!
As an historian, Newt should realize his chances in this modern technological age are low. How many serial adulterers have attained higher office in the last twenty years? We're not talking about the David Vitter's here, who are dug in like adultering ticks and seem to enjoy little more than a wristslap from both Congressional republicans and his constituents, all for the sake of saving his seat..
No longer is the press willing to overlook a candidate's past indescetions. Quite the contrary. And while he has owned up to his actions, the concept of God twice giving him a marital mulligan on his wedding vows will never mollify married women voters. After all, this is not some guy who smoked a joint when he was 16; this is a former Speaker who has always tended to look down upon his flock from the mountaintop. The real question is–what's wrong with the women in S. Carolina?
After 11 years as a middle aged single woman, I have concluded that there are very few married men who are 100% faithful to their wives, regardless of age, race or religion.
Newt is normal when it comes to women and a cut above all other candidates when it comes to his intelligence and knowledge of history.
NEWT HAS MY SUPPORT!!
No, Newt Gingrich does not have a problem with women. In fact, he seems to like them quite a bit. On the other hand, most women (including me) appear to have a problem with Newt.
Not sure if he has a problem with women or has a problem dealing will issues and if he couldn't deal with his 2 wives sickness how can he run the country. What does this say about our medical issues? He can just turn his back. He turned his back. Again HE TURNED HIS BACK! As president he will again turn his back.
I cannot say enough...you nailed it...something that has been the "elephant in the room" for a long time. The fact that Gringrich was going after Clinton for "adultery" (using the excuse about Clinton lying") all the while as the 3d person in line to lead out country – and having left his first wife as you point out...in the process of leaving his second wife with an adulterous relationship...and now claiming that he is a grandfather and "found God"...tells me: he did find God...and he thinks he is God and those who follow him are as delusional as others following othe idolators! Well done...keep charging – no matter which party
Obviously Newt has no problem with women. In fact, when they become a "problem" for him, he just moves on to the next one. It appears to me that other than the first wive, it is the women choosing Newt who might have a problem, a problem choosing thier partner.
Mr Gingrich doesn't have a problem with women as much as women have a problem with Mr Gingrich. Or perhaps they just don't have as many problems with Mr. Romney. The common refrain that Romney "looks Presidential" is another way of saying he is attractive. On the other hand Gingrich doesn't look, shall we say, as "Presidential" as Romney. Is there not the remote possibility that women voters, in the age of high-definition TV, will take the granite jaw over the triplicated chin more times than not?
Zozzle, Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada
Ol' Newt is gonna have a hell of a problem getting women to vote for him, for sure. Whether he has a problem with "women" is too subjective. My three ex-wives don't hate me, but probably wouldn't vote for me for president either.
But the fact that women, in general, will not vote for an "adulterer" or a "philanderer" disturbs me. I will concede that being those nasty words is not a good thing, but just how it affects one's ability to focus the assets of the middle and poorer classes into a stream upward into the coffers of the already rich is beyond me. It must be a social thing related to class warfare or something. That being president thing is tough, one has to have focus.
Yes!!! If they get sick, he gets rid of them, he is selfish, and non caring about anyone but himself. No women should touch him with a 10 foot pole, and if people wants to vote for him they should think Can this man really care about me?, someone he doesn't know when his wives are sick and he runs around on them and then divorces them? This man makes me sick!!!!!!
your one sided critique of Newt is silly and biased....his first wife did the 'filing', and her 'cancer' was non-life threatening, and everyone knew that...they had not gotten along for years, and the second...who was also married at the time she met newt, had asked him for a divorce not once, but twice....they had 'no' real life together for years...unless u are a fly on the wall of someone's marriage...u are just spewing idiocy...she had so many 'personal' problems, I cannot blame him......tell the whole truth caff.!...I realize this is liberal CNN...but come on...I bet many of the people 'posting today in hear couldn't withstand the media hype nor 'spin'........none of us could
The women that voted for Newt in South Carolina & Florida alike, were only casting their vote against Mitt. So it wasn't really about how much they liked Newt, it was more of the fact that they just dislike Mitt. Like choosing between Dumber & Dumberer
He does, Jack. The only woman who doesn't have a problem with him is his wife, who doesn't care what he does (meaning: he can go have extra marital fun whenever he wants). This is a guy who claims to represent the republican party of moral family values... I've always known the repubs are a crock of...
He doesn't have a problem with women - he has a problem with his zipper.
Why do you think that women would only judge Newt on his marital past or looks? Why do you not think that we would decide our vote on his overall stand on policy? UGH- MEN!!!!! We need a good woman to run – "good' being the key work here...
Newt Gingrich is a dirtbag who is his own worst enemy. His ego is so huge he can't see who or what he is. Women should have a big problem with him. When things "are in the past", they don't happen over and over again. His lack of respect for women has and will cost him dearly. I don't want him running my country. Jacksonville, FL
No one has really said it but he cannot beat President Obama because he is a corrupt individual. He keeps dumping women when they are ill or just not pretty enough to be in the White House. He is not pretty enough either. YUCK
Gingrich sells himself as the true conservative, so I guess my definition of conservative is terribly wrong. What you have here is a rich businessman whom people are afraid to trust, a man who was publicly reprimanded by his peers in the Congress and a man who leans way too far in religion. Oh yeah, then there's the guy who's honest, consistent, has a good economic policy and wants to protect your constitutional rights.
Callista has an even bigger problem with men and women. While we often give a man a pass for philandering, we are unfairly reluctant to do so for a woman. How many will honestly be proud to see Callista as First Lady?
I'm a woman, and I have issues with him. He is a hypocrite of the highest order. He preaches family values and how allowing gays to marry will destroy the sanctity of marriage...and he's the one twice divorced after cheating on his first two wives. He's disgusting.
Jack, do people have problems with parasites? Of course, they do! Similarly, women don't like Newt Gingrich. Based on Gingrich's past history, he seems like a parasite who feeds on a healthy wife and moves on to a new host when his previous host becomes inflicted with cancer. This guy just gives woman voters the creeps, no doubt about that!
He's a cheater and a liar. His current wife curdles my blood...can't stand to look at her. She has no morals either. This is the qualities that we want in the leader of the free world. I don't think so, he can't be trusted. Not to mention his political problems, why would we want to re-live all of that. If he is a 68 yr old grandfather, then go home and rock those grandchildren. He must think the American public is stupid which I find highly offensive.
Jack, it's not Newt who has a problem! No, the problem is these self-absorbed women who won't sacrifice themselves for the good of their husband, and who selfishly believe they are actually entitled to monogamy, some day-dreamy fulfillment of marital vows, and other egocentric desires that put their own needs ahead of the needs of Newt, that giant of American politics who's vision is destined to save our great nation.
Do we need to ask the question? Women don't take kindly to men who leave them while they're fighting a serious illness. So why would they vote for one? Frankly, I don't see what his wives saw in him to begin with! Newt reminds me of the Pillsbury dough boy after someone dropped the plate of cinnamon rolls.
NO....they have a problem with him !
I'm a woman from Orlando, FL, and this was the first Republican primary in which I voted. I'm so glad I registered Republican because I got to cast a vote against Newt, who's exactly the type of contemptible "old boys club" scum – shrill, self-serving, hypocritical hater – that I least want to see leading our country. And for the record, I'm not impressed by his endorsements from Perry, Cain and Palin, who as a group make a perfect 'confederacy of dunces.' Do I love Obama and the Dems? No I don't. But there's such a thing as going 'from the frying pan into the fire,' and Newt would have burned us all.
Brain of a newt has a problem with reality!
Mitt is a fake Or not genuine person, you think that he represent middle class? I don't think so he represent the 1%, that's clear
I'm still trying to figure out what disease I have every month. This "disease" was why women are not fit for combat. He was teaching at a university after he was speaker of the house and the subject was women in combat.
It is a matter of Newt's moral compass. If he cannot be honorable in his marriages then how can one expect him to be honorable to the country. He has fallen on his own petard on this one. His so called Fannie Mae "consultancy" which those of us who have lobbied Congress know as code word for lobbying is a dead giveaway of this man's lack of integrity. Newt Gingrich is a pandering demagogue with amazing level of hubris. I am a registered Independent with moderate leanings who normally votes the Democratic party but will go for Romney this time but never could vote for Newt.
No. Women have a problem with Newt. I don't know why women think a man's sex life is something to be considered when hiring a politician. But they obviously do. Pervs. However this is only true if that man is a Republican. If you are Bill Clinton, you can have a closet full of women and it is all good. What I find even more interesting is that we never see the media probe the sexual history of female politicians...All while the talking heads whine about sexism.
he should have a problem with anyone who has any common sense. Remember, when he was lobbying to get the religious vote in Iowa he said what caused him to have his multiple adultrous flings to the fact he loves his country so much and was working to hard. Good God, anyone who can believe that, well, i have a bridge in Brooklyn for sale!
well, clearly from the photo, he surrounds himself with women. Apparently they are not the voting kind. My problem with Newt is NOT that he sleeps with other women when his current squeeze gets sick. My problem is the hypocrisy of denouncing President Clinton for his transgressions while he was engaging in far more despicable behavior.
apparently he has no problem with them
NO. He obviously does not have a problem with women, just doesn't mean it when he says "I DO" at the altar. He seems to run when his women suddenly develop unfortunate physical problems, which WE ALL will have if we live long enough. So what's going to happen when he runs into problems in the WHITE HOUSE?
A DEVOTED HUSBAND
I have a long, long, memory. Aside from the way Gingrich has treated the women in his life, which I DO consider a character issue even though he doesn't, I haven't forgotten that while he led the GOP charge for impeachment against Bill Clinton over "zipper" issues, Gingrich himself had "zipper" issues. He's a hypocritic. Unforgettable and unforgivable!
Some of us seem to have been born the way the Newter was and find our way in life later in years. In his case he seems to be lacking true HONESTY and humility but what the heck, this is America. He'll implode soon and I hope to see it first hand on CNN.
Come on Jack, get on with it! Who doesn't have problems with women. Did Bill Clinton have a problem? Did JFK? Can't say he handled it right or wrong, but we're voting for a republican candidate right? I guess this is the good and bad of 24 hour realtime journalizm, you eventually run out of things to talk about.
John I - Denver
Seems to me that Newt has no problem with women at all, thanks to his wealth, created in no small part at taxpayer expense. Women, however, certainly do have a problem with Newt.
Gingrich's entire career has been built on the "Do as I say, not as I do" principle (and I hate to even use the word "principle" in the same sentence as his name.
Chagrin Falls, OH
"Gingrich has a problem, period! It's more about himself, and not either of the other two sexes. He continues the idea that he's unique on this planet! I never like Regan myself, so he has nothing to add there. Really? What has he to offer from himself, thats useable in Government?? How many space ships in use today can carry mored than six?? What kind of a pay-load could be moved anywhere is space? He is old and worn out heading for senility within five years>"
Both myself and my daughters like Newt, voted and will vote for Newt..I think CNN has a problem with Newt..thought you had him with that opening "got'cha" question, didn't you? LOL.
Yes, but he has a problem with the electorate in general! He's fat, repulsive, and unelectable. He is a hypocrite and has a closet full of skeletons. The American Voter will not vote for a candidate they do not like in the general election. Once it gets down to the party nominees it does become a popularity contest. The veting is done, the public knows all it is going to know, and we pull the lever for the candidate we like the most. The country liked Bush over Gore, Bush over Kerry, and Obama over McCain, largely because of likability. It may not make poilitical sense, but that is what it comes down to. A vote in the general election is a vote for class President for a majority of Americans.
Jack you ask if Newt has a problem with women – ya think? He may think it's all "in the past," but it speaks volumes about his character, and that's something he's not going to change at this stage in his life. Boy, do I love it when Republicans start yammering about how theirs is the part of "family values." Newt is just one of many GOP Pols who trumpet this sort of naked (oops...) hypocrisy. Count me disgusted.
Newt definitely has a problem with women per the polls. Overall, it doesn't matter, as the republican nominee will defeat obama in the fall. Re-elections are always about the performance of the incumbent, and obama has unfortunately been the worst president since carter.
Ron Paul, celebrates 55 years of marriage with his wife today... What does Newt get to celebrate with his wives? 55 days? He runs through women like the Kardashian's do sports players. He doesn't have a clear picture of what he wants in his personal life, how can a country to trust him to make clear decisions? Does he have a problem with women? Yes. He's going to have a problem getting women to trust him.
Is the Pope Catholic?
No Jack, that is the wrong question to ask, the question to ask, the question to ask is that do women have a problem with Newt? His past behavior has shown that he loves them and cannot wait to use the next one in line. I do not think Newt has a problem with women at all, but I believe women in Florida sure has hell have a problem with Newt.
Newt has a problem ... period! I'll bet when he was growing up, if a toy didn't work properly, he cast it aside without a second thought. That trait seems to have followed him into adulthood. He's a moron plain and simple.
Jack with all the women in my family and workplace I've got a "problem" with women...probably most men share that. Newt , however, has a DISASTER with them. Hasta la Bye-Bye Newton Leroy Gingrich.
Only women who aren't open to big, bold ideas....like open marriages.
Just as Newt laid in bed nest to his mistress, and tried to appease two women, and propose an open marriage?!
Not on your life, would I vote for this opportunist?!! Ha!! He's a sleazy overweight womanizer who has no respect
for himself or women. Gov. Romney is a shining contrast to this piggy man. And who could look at that crazy Stepford
woman that tags behind him, for the next 4 years!!
one womans's opinion. Diana
There is a lot more than just his infidelity that is disgusting about the newt. He is mean, revengeful, boastful without cause, and really unattractive. A bad example for America. He also suffers from apparent A.D.D.
Newt has a problem with anyone who does not agree with him 100% of the time, He uses and exploits people all of the time,if they have a different opinion, just ask the folks that served with him in the house . I would veture to say that Newt's dog likes Gingrich less than Mitts dog likes Romney.
After the South Carolina CNN debate I was rather disgusted with Newt Gingrich's anger with the media. And, frankly, I was disappointed in the responses from many people who said his past didn't matter to them. I know that I am one very small voice, but I am not afraid to say that it matters to me. It matters to me because I am a wife and don't want to be treated that way by my husband, it matters to me because I have five daughters and I don't want their husbands to cheat on them. It matters to me because I have a son and I want him to have a better example of how a man should treat his wife. It matters to me for all the men and women whose marriages have been broken up by adultrey and to all the kids whose families have been broken up by such selfishness. I believe in forgiveness, but that doesn't mean that I think a serial cheater should be worthy to hold the office of President of the United States.
Newt doesn't have a problem with women, but women have a problem with him. Even if i agreed with his policies, which I don't, I would have serious issues with his marriages. Leaving one wife for another, sick or not, isn't right. I would have less problem with his being on wife 3 if he wouldn't have left wife one for wife two, and wife two for wife three. Not to mention the face that wife three was an aid during his Speakership.
You and Blitzer amaze me, Clinton was elected twice and he cheated on his wife with two different women and never got divorced. All u 2 are trying to be is Obama spokesmen but Jay "UM" Carney already has that job. Here is a thought for the 2 of you why is it that Newt's second wife didn't come out with her story until he got ahead in the polls?
Jack, it is sad to see so many Americans not factor a man's moral character into their voting for the President of the United States. Our founding fathers cringe at the men who run for office these days. This country is supposed to stand for what is moral and good among the nations of the earth and its leader better be able to lead that way by example in his personal life. The family is the most vital unit and we need men who will uphold the integrity of this unit and fight for it through policy. Without the good families that make up the great moral fabric of America, America would decline into chaos and ruin. Good women, men and youth better start having a problem with a man that has no moral compass running for President or this nation will continue to have worse problems in the future than it does now, much worse.
If nobody was willing to forget about Clinton and his discrepancies, then why should it be any different for Gingerich.
Yes, technically it is NOT directly related to how they do their job. However... if a man is unfaithful that many times, how can we trust him to be faithful with his "Vows" to the country??
He does have a problem with women. How can you trust a man with a value like that? If he's not honest or faithful in dealing with one person how much more with all the people in America? You can not trust an adulterer, let alone a two time adulterer. I hope amerIcan people will vote for someone who has a good value in life thats very important now a days. Politics is already dirty, so, vote for someone who has good dignity in life and someone who is God fearing.
Newt's personal life has nothing ot do with his political abiltiy. The women in his life obviously were a liability and they didn't know their place.
Yes, he has a problem with women. Married, women, single women, divorced women. If he hasn't been worthy of his wife's trust, why would we trust him with our country?
This woman has a problem with Newt thinking his church choir singing wife Callista would be a respected first lady when she had a six year affair with a man she knew was married. How many times in those years did she go to confession and ask for God's forgiveness?
You got it backwards Jack, women have a problem with Newt!
Sure Newt has a problem with women voters, but nothing the endorsement of Hermann Cain won't solve!
Newt does not play well with other people be they women men or in-between.
A problem with women?? JFK, Clinton, Gingrich... blah, blah, blah. How will a person run the country? It amazes me how 'churchy' people can get about the personal lives of politicians. We don't care about the love lives of our doctor, lawyer, CEO or barber ... but how they do their job. That's all that matters. As the saying goes, "behind every successful man, is a surprised woman."
I want to join any women's group that is against Newt. I find him horrible for anything.
Newty doesnt have a problem with women, he has a problem with himself.
At least his women look better than Clinton's. I wouldn't vote for him simply because he's not interested in changing anything...kind of like how Obama apparently isn't. The two party system = 2 wolves give a chicken coop a choice of 2 recipes they can be put in. They all cluck and one recipe wins over the other. If you reject the 2 choices offered, you get told that you're wasting your vote. All the chickens get slaughtered regardless of which recipe gets elected, but apparently some have a definite preference for being stew over soup.
It's not that Gingrich has a problem with women so much as women apparently have a problem with him. Whether their collective memory will fade or stay in the coming months will likely determine his fate, as a large number of them are apparently voting along gender interests.
Of course Newt Gingrich has a woman problem. He's a pig. Just like Bill Clinton had a woman problem. You can't wish away your history as an adult, and a relatively recent history, by saying you've made peace with God. What does God have to do with Gingrich's adulterous, cheating, lying, disgusting behavior? What women see in him is a man who asks God for forgiveness for his adulterous sins but they don't see him asking for forgiveness from the two women he lied to and cheated on? He is not a man of integrity – and not just on this issue. Go ahead and give him the nomination – let the Democrats win the election by a landslide.
I think he has a lot of problems, not just with women. I hope Calista stays healthy.
Who in God's name are these women who fall for him, much less sleep with him when he's married to someone else, much less marry him after the divorce? Whoever he's married to now best beware: especially when a health crisis surfaces.
Newt has a problem with intelligent women. Women who are smart enough to see through his proclamations of new-found religion and phoney apologies for his past actions will not vote for Newt. He clearly shows no respect for women, except perhaps the daughter of his first wife who made him a 68 year old grandfather.
Call me cynical, but men just don't do the sick thing very well. Men have throughout history cheated on their wives while they were pregnant. Look at John Edwards. He didn't like the fact that Elizabeth had cancer and chose a mistress at this time in their marriage. Newt's problem was choosing women who ended up with debilitating diseases. Let's look at what we think he can do as President of a country who needs a leader.
Newt lost the chance of a lifetime when he accepted an endorsement from Cain, a man that had to quit in disgrace due to being exposed for being a sexual predator who prayed on women down on thier luck. If he had refused the endorsement, proving he had turned over a new leaf, he would have had women eating out of his hands!
I certainly hope his current wife never gets sick! He'll just replace her for a newer model with less mileage!
His repeated actions speak very poorly to his character. I would think of it more as a personal issue that should be dealt with privately, but this is a guy who has pushed a "family values" platform for years. If he's going to campaign on family values and personal relationships, his should be held up for example. Hypocrisy is a problem.
Women should also have a problem with him because he is anti-choice. Anyone who's not Caucasian should have a problem with him because he's made some very bad generalizations, and is unapologetic about it.
I honestly can't think of reasons to support the guy. I think a lot of his support has been just as an alternative to Romney.
I'm not a fan of Romney, but there's something really skeevy about Newt Ginrich. Plus, he's too old to be President.
He has been married three times, if he has not learned by now than there is no problem.
No he doesn't. He just spits them out whenever it suits him.
I would suppose it depends on if you're the women he's spurned and cast aside or if you're the ones he's chasing.
The main reason is – Newt doesn't respect women. It shows in everything he says. Maybe if Callista ever speaks, she can tell us what a swell guy ol Newt is! Or is it just the "bling" she loves.
Not quite... Women have a problem with Newt! As a woman, I would never vote for the man. If you can't be honest in your marriage, do you really think one can be honest with the country?
By the way, does anyone else find it hilarious that the evangelical favorite has more wives than our Mormon candidate?!? hypocrites....
I don't know if he has a problem with women but this woman has a problem with him. He is self absorbed and condescending. His insulting comments about minorities and his treatment of previous wives should tell us all we need to know about him. If he is the smartest candidate out there, maybe we all do need to consider moving to the moon.
Three wives? Apparently not. Jack, where have you been?
"Newt's problem was choosing women who ended up with debilitating diseases." Oh my goodness, Nancy, I hope you're being sarcastic, but I can't tell.
In case you're not, I'd like to point out that Newt's problem seems to be keeping his vows, such has "in sickness and in health" and abiding by that pesky 7th commandment of "thou shall not commit adultery".
Serious illness is a very stressful thing for a family to go through, no doubt, but still no excuse for cheating on and dumping ill spouses.
As I said above, it should be a private matter, except for his "family values" platforms and the insistence on telling others how to live their lives.
Yes. Newt obviously thinks women are disposable. Gingrich must not know the saying about a woman scorned or that women outnumber men according to the US census.
While Newt was busy trying to impeach Clinton for lying about his affair, Newt was doing the same thing. I lived (and still do) in his congressional district when he won his re-election (while still being Speaker) by 70%. He almost immediately resigned after the election. Some say it was ethics charges, I say he was getting ready to be outed for having an extramarital affair. All I know, it cost us money to have another election and he was, indeed, having an affair.
He has a woman problem, and a character problem.
He also has a truth problem–he thinks he can avoid lying by fancy footwork and precise wording. It's worse than Clinton's "defintion of is" argument, and that was lame enough. He's rude to other politicians, he's petulant, and he admits that he has the impulse control of a four-year-old. EXACTLY the character formation I want in a high-stress leadership position for four-years.
He does this women. I see him as a womanizer. Never satisfied.
Does Newt have a problem with women?
Is the Pope a catholic?
Does a Baptist church have a bus?
How many different ways to say YES YES to a very clear, obvious answer.
It's that whole do as I say and not as I do program with the republican party that just blows the whole "conservative family values" moral high horse right out of the water. Maybe if the evangelicals get him elected Gingrich and his ol lady will invite Mitt up for a threesome on the moon? Stay tuned Jack.
Yes, he does have a problem with women. And he has a problem with men who respect women and the institution of marriage.
Speaker Gingrich says it is all in the past and that he is sorry. Those both may very well be true - although I suspect his current wife would be disturbed if she really thought he wished he could take it all back. And it is not our job to judge whether God has forgiven him. But it is our job to decide whether a man who has made those choices should be the one to guide this nation for the next four years.
Republicans say "Character matters," and Democrats snicker and roll their eyes. I'm Republican, and I don't blame them. For some Republicans those are just words to use to try to get a Democrat out of office. But for other Republicans - most, I hope and think - character really does matter. Policy matters too, but character matters as much or more because it guides a leader when difficult choices are to be made. And that is why many Republicans and independents who disagree with President Obama on policy will vote for him anyway if the alternative is Speaker Gingrich. Because character matters.
If he looks like a rat , and smells like a rat, then he's a rat.
No Jack he doesn't have a problem with women.
He has a problem with fidelity and, ethics.
That's right Jack – read your first sentence – go figure -then the personal baggage thing – yes, he owns up to it, and yes, he regrets it – but people doesn't forget that easily. It would be different, if it was a simple divorce – he wouldn't have been the first president that was ever divorced, as a matter of fact, I bekieve Reagan was divorced once, and there was another one, but I can't remember at this point in time.
Now your Question : Does Newt Gingrich have a problem with women?
Take a good hard look at that sign in front of him, in that photo – – Can you see that, Jack ?? What does it Say Jack ??
You've been hearing from a Ton of people that he's everything, PLUS a Liar, Correct ?? WELL – That Sign says "46 States" Do the Math, Jack – If there is only 50 states to begin with – and he's NOT on the Ballot in 1 of the OTHER States (maybe more) does he Still have 46 states to Go ?? HUH ? I mean, that's a downright Lie, isn't it ? or is That Bad at Math also ?? Huh ? What's That All about, Jack ?
On Top of all that – he doesn't even have the gall, or has any Respect to or for his opponent, to Thank him. For some reason or another, all the other candidates had No problem calling and Congradulating their opponents.

No, I do not think he has a problem with women, as long as he has that huge line of credit at Tiffany's, so the problem might just be with the gold diggers (uh, carbon diggers ? Nothing, no one, is sacred anymore.
Women in states where religion isn't controling factor will definitely brush him aside.
Jack, I don't know but I sure would love to hear the answers that his ex's would give!
I suspect that that the female primary voters in Florida are only the tip of the iceberg. Once Mr. Gingrich realizes how MANY women voters there are, he may begin to realize he has a real problem, which may be deeper that with just women.
I have news for you Jack. Any guy married 3 times has troube with women.
I don't think Newt has a problem with all women, just when they get sick with disease! Callista better stay healthy if she wants to stay with Newt.
