Why doesn't Palin want news media to cover some of her speeches?

FROM CNN's Jack Cafferty:

Sarah Palin may be talking; but it sounds like she doesn't want the media to hear her.

The Orlando Sentinel reports that Palin is banning all video and sound recordings at two high-profile, big-ticket speeches in Florida in the next month.

Sponsors of these speeches say the rules for the events are set by Palin's agents. Members of the media can buy a ticket like anyone else - for a couple hundred bucks, that is. But no pictures, audio or video recording allowed. Also, Palin has banned media in most cases at her book signings - except for brief photo-ops.

You'd think someone considering a run for the White House in 2012 would want as much media coverage as possible. Which is what happens whenever the former VP candidate opens her mouth. The media just eat it up.

But that may be part of the problem too: Take Palin's widely covered Tea Party speech for example, where media coverage was allowed: While the base loves what she's selling, Palin has come under lots of criticism for the crib notes she had scribbled on her hand.

Meanwhile new poll numbers suggest Palin may want to reconsider a potential White House run. A Washington Post-ABC News survey shows only 37 percent of Americans have a favorable view of her - 55 percent have an unfavorable view.

Plus a whopping 71 percent say Palin is not qualified to be president - that includes more than half of Republicans. Only a quarter think she is qualified to sit in the Oval Office. Wonder who those people are?

Here’s my question to you: Why does Sarah Palin not want the news media to cover some of her speeches?

Interested to know which ones made it on air?

Steve writes:
Because they "ain't payin”. It’s becoming apparent that "hopey changey" and other Palinisms play well to a narrow crowd that have cash to spend. These little "Palinisms" do nothing to suggest an IQ getting to triple digits, so the less exposure the better. She takes Tea Party cash and endorses her great Grampa McCain. It’s totally all about the Benjamins, Jack.

David in Cedar Rapids, Iowa writes:
Because she's a fraud! You know it, I know it, 71% of America knows it and she knows it. The only ones that don't know it are the fools willing to pay money to have the sirens song drift harmlessly through their heads while she serenades them with her folksy mishmash of canned patriotism and twisted Christianity.

Kris writes:
Because every time she opens her mouth she makes a fool of herself.

Dave writes:
Sarah Palin closes her speeches so those who haven't paid to hear her speak don't have the opportunity to experience buyer's remorse.

Dan writes:
Because she is an idiot and she believes that if there are no recordings or pictures of her being an idiot then the 71% may forget that she is an idiot.

George writes:
No one needs to cover her speeches because we have enough to prove her incompetence already. Now, no more Sarah. Bad Jack, bad.

Eric writes:
Please, please stop covering, promoting, giving any validity to this simpleton trailer dweller. America doesn't need this. If she doesn't want media coverage, by all means honor her request!

Ms. Palin has learned that national media is not friendly nor folksy. Imagine that!!

She operated on a smaller stage in Alaska and found ways to control and manipulate the media there. She has only ever been a trite phrase, next-sound-byte, seek the spotlight politician, never more than that.

Now, on the larger, nationwide stage all that folksy, cutesy stuff isn't workin' for her and she is flailing around, trying to find ways of controlling and manipulating this new media, trying to gain credibility that I am afraid she will just not find.

Why are reporting on this lady? She has absolutely no bearing on anything that is happening in this country and has yet to do anything to to earn her all this attention. I don't think that there are that many news agencies that will be tearing down the door to get into her speeches. This is not news, no one really cares.

    Because she's an idiot!

And she does IDIOTIC things....and the media, doing their job, reports
as such. That's why she's effectively implementing a blanket ban on all forms of media coverage.

Sarah the Quitter should spare the populace further...her 15 minutes of fame were over long ago. HOW she can continue to generate interest is beyond me!

Because Jack whenever Ms Palin opens her mouth nothing makes sense and she knows it and also she's probably tired of David Letterman making fun of her every single night! I think she is ignorant no matter what she says or does and the less coverage of Sarah Palin by the news media the better and that's not only my opinion!

I think it's clear that she (more so, her handlers) don't want the media with too fine a focus on her actual speech and speaking abilities; rather, they want the media to cover the event, the fact that her speech happened and that so many people showed up. I can't imagine how such an approach can ultimately be effective, however.

  17. Ben Laurens

Could it be that she is tired of being singled out by an extremely biased media as a scapegoat. For example; her crib notes are a major negative story while Obama can't say his name without a teleprompter and even then he gets it wrong "Corpseman" Where is your objectivity?? Poll numbers?? Thank you CNN, New york times, Networks etc..... She appeals to middle America, and in November you will get a real taste of what that means. Compare Palin's experience to Mr SIEU and acorn. He got elected because of shrewd handlers and a facile gift of speech. Palin has at least done something political successfully. Sarah needs work, she needs more education on the international front, no doubt, but she is in the pulse of Americans who still care about the constitution, which is more than can be said for nobama, ried and pelosi

  18. Dan Mc Cauley

With what comes out of her mouth it is not suprising that her handlers have decided that in some case less is more. That is when she inserts foot into mouth that is. She is reflective of a segment of this country who are just plain fed up with everything Washington does,or should I say doesnt do during a time when we need both sides to work together to solve some very difficult issues we "all" face. Dear Ms.Sarah is not the fix,but merely a mouth piece for this group. Very hypocritical to make statements about the sitting President using a teleprompter when her most important moment in front of her biggest audience she must refer to her crib notes on her hand,.....well prepared shall we say!!??

  19. Alex in Wisconsin

It's obvious, she doesn't want the cameras because she doesn't want people outside the room to see her crib sheets on her hand like last time. she doesn't want the voice recorders because she knows she will sound like an idiot to those people with a higher IQ than a moose. She wants to hold the event anyway because Sarah Palin is all about the money.

She obviously has only one speech to use. If she allows any media except Pox News to cover her appearances, that word will escape. She may get $100,000 per appearance but she's obviously too cheap to pay someone to write another speech for her.

I believe that she does not want media coverage because it seems the more coverage she gets, the less popular she gets. I also think the lack luster coverage of he withdrawal as governor of Alaska was do in large part because the people of Alaska wised up and realized she had no business in politics. This would have resulted in a loss for Palin in the next governor elections which would have ruined her chances at the presidency. She will never say the true reason behind her resignation, but losing a governor's race would have ruined her. She could be the candidate the would split the Republican party when will the Republicans wise up and see she is just another somewhat pretty face.

Perhaps one of her managers has realized that she has nothing to say of any substance? She's full of criticism of the administration, "How's that hopey, changey stuff workin' out fer ya?" but her problem is the same problem that plagues most of the members of congress these days i.e. all of them talk about how things aren't great, but none of them are coming up with any realistic ways to make things great again. If I were her managers, I wouldn't let her be taped or filmed either. She flamed the President for using teleprompters while she had magic marker answers on her hands. This woman is a hardcore ninny and needs to go away.

Sara Palin is not genuine, kind, or generous. Everytime she speaks she has to follow a script or she puts her foot in her mouth and comes off as poorly educated or just plain mean and petty. She has become the "joe the plumber" or the pretty but totally self-absorbed Paris Hilton of politics. Politics has reached an all time record low. I believe that this kind of politics led us to this resession. If people continue to support candidates like Sarah Palin who have done nothing but only criticize others, then it will be a long dark road to economic recovery.

Palin's pretty whiny about criticism. She wants to be told how pretty and feisty and All-American she is. The media hasn't shown much willingness to do that.

Actually, before she was chosen as McCain's running mate, the Alaskan media was a little too kind to her. But they've changed now.

The news media is biased. If you are not in their political camp they put a negative spin on everything you say or do. They can be your greatest opponent if you let them. Mainstream American media has never liked Sarah Palin. She is too honest, open and down to earth for them.

The best answer is that like the "ditto-heads" that Rush Limbaugh and his ilk corral, Sara Palin wants to be with only those who will not think too deeply about what she says. She speaks in sound bites and cannot delve deeply into issues. When did it become vogue to be ignorant? This country cannot survive another special needs president.

Let's hope most Americans who formerly thought positively about her are now smartening up re this inept unqualified person. It looks like it. She's lovely to look at. Watching her and trying to comprehend what she's saying is entertaining and baffling. Total incoherence.

What also baffles me is her supporters, so conservative that they would not permit any other female to even come close to running for any office, and yet they are so taken with her. Do they even understand her? Does anyone? Maybe publishing and posting her "speeches" verbatim all over the place will show just what a nonsensical non-entity she is.

Because watching Sesame Street into her 40's can only carry you so far. As dumb as this woman is, makes you wonder what level of intellect her followers truly have. Her Tea Baggers cant carry a conversation without mentioning socialism, marxism or facism... but not one of them know what each word means. I doubt Ms. Media Harlett knows much about either unless Bert and Ernie can explain it to her. Hey Sarah, North is not up, South is not down and East and West does not mean left and right. Good for her – one of the few public figures who understand capitalism any more. She's a private citizen making her living giving fee speeches and selling her books. She is no longer an elected politician, and doesn't owe the freeloading, agenda-biased press a darn thing. There are few real objective reporter/journalists anymore who struggle with deep rational thinking and analysis to report "the news". 95% today are just under-skilled, self-appointed attention addicts who without the Internet wouldn't be hired to report on garage sales for the community rag. Sarah Palin might have good motives but don't have the quality to be President. I certainly would not vote for her However, we have a bigger problem. We have too many old people with closed minds. It seems to be a "no brainer" (pun always intended). What does not make sense is banning the media when she's speaking to the choir. The response from her audicence is the reason the "media" keeps following her.

Because as poor as she is at actually articulating coherent policy she's aware of the way she looks to the rest of the country. She's managing her press as much as possible so that only good things that she can control are covered. She knows that the more people actually hear her speak the less they like her, and part of this is you in the media's fault for not getting her out in public candidly.

Cause Sarah Palin is incompetent, uneducated, and clearly wants to hide this from main stream media. Simple..every time she gets in front of the camera she screws up because she has NO clue what she is talking about. Republicans AND Democrats both think she is a nut, but the masses love her cause entertaining, no more then Paris Hilton is. As they say in Hollywood when you make a movie to appeal to the mass’s make sure it made for a 13 year old mentality thus she appeals to the masses in this way.

Sarah is keeping media away from her public speeches for the same reason she had to write her own purported beliefs in crib notes on her hand: She's afraid of being caught misspeaking on the issues again. It is the same as the race for president. She is not very intelligent and is prone to serious gaffs that further erode the dwindling number of peole who support her doing anything. No media means no witnesses or no for the record story of her foolishness. I do not think she has any intention to run for president. She is just in it for the money now – as much and as fast as she can get it. This is why she resigned in Alaska. Fear of being exposed for what she really is. Unqualified. Plain and simple. The more she opens her mouth in public, the more scrutiny she subjects herself to. She should have realized by now, that that is the nature of political public speaking. And she has got to learn that if she is going to dish it out, she's got to be able to take it.

Well it's obvious don't you think? Perhaps her logic is that if they (the media) can't record what she says in any way, then they won't have anything to back up their criticisms of her. She's still a dimwit and why anyone would pay money to hear her speak is beyond me, unless they are going for sheer entertainment value and a good laugh. She never was, nor will be, qualified to be President.

She gets enough press coverage from the media trying to keep her down. Why should she open everything to media all the time? She doesn't need more press to keep her name in the buzz. But hey, if you want to cover her as much as the President, maybe that's foreshadowing.

Palin doesn't want the media at (most) of her events because she gives the same exact speech over and over. She's CLEARLY looking out for the media and doesn't want you wasting valuable film.

Jack she doen't want the media at her speeches because she is so insecure now about the way America sees her she doesn't want to "ruin" her reputation as much as she already has. No one does it better than she does! She only wants the base Republicans to hear her because they are the only people stupid enough to listen to her!

Because the media are a critical component of accountability. Sarah Palin is above being held accountable, at least in her own opinion.

Can you say leftwing bias? That’s why. Every attempt is made by those in the leftwing media to attack Sara Palin and diminish her. She writes 7 words on her hand and you guys go nuts, Obama (reading from the teleprompter) pronounces corps (he pronounced the “ps”) wrong 3 times in one speech and no mention in the lamestreet media. If Bush or Palin had done this you guys would have attacked like pit bulls implying stupidity, but Obama is still the “smart one” according to the lamestreeters. “71% say Palin isn’t qualified”…well 53% thought Obama was qualified and look how that has turned out. The man was a good campaigner and IS a horrible executive. Many of us said five minutes in the Senate and never anything but a community agitator is not a good resume for a successful executive. Palin is eminently more qualified then Obama

She would probably prefer not to have the media there since she knows they'll cherry-pick something out of context and blast it out with commentary about what a "nut job" she is. Depending on whether the media likes or dislikes someone affects the way they are portrayed.

Media covers for those they like or don't want to see fail. Biden runs at least 100 gph (gaffs per hour), but we rarely hear about them. If Palin flubs a line, misstates something, or says something innocent but could be taken wrong, it gets airplay.

So what if Palin wrote crib notes on her hand. I've done it when I didn't have paper handy. Anyone who speaks in public has used note cards. Obama can't speak without a TelePrompter and famously "fell apart" while speaking it failed.

FYI, I wouldn't vote for Palin to be POTUS on a dare, but she is a good speaker, raises valid points and speaks out for a lot of really upset and worried people. Ignore her and her message at your own peril.

I'm starting to believe she banned books.

She is desperately trying to get a decent image together. The media bans are nothing more than an attempt to do lots of dress rehearsal.

Seems though that the VP candidate spot should have given her lots of opportunity to hone her image and message.
She did tear it up at the convention but she probably went over that speech 200 times (if not more). She failed once her appearances required to go "off-script".

If she hasn't figured it out yet then she is as dumb as a rock. Unless her appearances are carefully and thoroughly prepared, her speeches are mind numbingly bad.

Sara Palin in my opinion is just as qualified as the peanut man,
Jimmy, who was not even a politician. All the news Medea does is make fun of her, she is a down to earth person. Most people in Washington are out of reach with the American people.

    February 16, 2010 at 6:31 pm |
  88. Floyd Lewis

It's obvious that Palin doesn't want the world to see how stupid she really is. It is frightening that so many people actually believe she is quailified to be president. I have heard intelligent, thoughtful people in the news media refer to her as" fascinating" and "attractive." This kind of talk does a disservice to the American Public, most of whom are not engaged in politics and thrive on soundbites. Use of words like "attractive" and "fascinating" may tend to make her appear like a legitimate candidate to the members of the Public who don't follow politcs regularly.

There is an irony for her – she is damned if she does, damned if she doesn't. She should do us all a favor and do the one that doesn't damn us all. She probably saw the "Blues Brothers" and thinks, like them, she is "on a mission from God."

Why would she want the lamestream media and CNN covering her. She is making millions upon millions without the leftwing media. My bet is that she has zero aspirations to be President, but the mere mention of it antagonizes the left and excites the Tea Party folk, both equals tons of cash. If she doesn't even run, she will have the last laugh.

Hi Jack, remember how President Bush barely, if ever, held press conferences? Sarah Palin has the same fear and condescending attitude towards the press (she reads it 'the horrible LIBERAL against me press'), and as such has chosen to bar any press coverage of her so-called 'public' speeches out of fear that the 'other' 30% of this country will see her for what she is....an inept ex-politician who spends her time railing against the current politicians. Expect the same if she ever does get back to a public office in this country....and pray if she does.

The reason Palin does not want the media present is an irony in of itself. She has a degree in JOURNALISM. Wow, would that not make her PART of the media elite?
She does such of poor job of representing her craft that it is easy for more qualified journalists to pick apart everything she says and does, regardless of party affiliation.
As someone who has worked for newspapers, magazines and is a pro-bono freelance graphic designer for charity, she is a disgrace to our profession, plain and simple. Maybe she should have considered TV/VCR repair as her educational option.

Jack – Sarah Palin captured the attention of many because she showed the promise of being off the hook. In other words, folks are so desperate to have a politician who appears not to have the same blah, blah blah soundbites. Americans love "Kook's" - Sarah is right up there with H. Ross Perot and maybe even Barry Goldwater.

Thats also why the left unqualified democrats are gonna get kicked out of office, and why their liberal media buddies are going along with them. Get real, left media is out. No media should attend and no media should report a word of what Sarah palin or for that matter what anyone says or do at those events. The media should treat it as a non-event.
Once Sarah Palin is ignored by the media, she will then complain about the press ignoring her and will come crawling back for attention.

The only way to stop this woman is to totally ignore her.

Maybe the real solution is for Palin to buy a Big Chief notebook and a large box of crayons to hand out her press releases and to also get her message to the voters. She certainly has the intelligence and IQ to use them properly.

    February 16, 2010 at 6:34 pm |
  110. Gabriel Barkin

Palin is trying to have it both ways. She wants fame and attention and power, but she thinks she can have that without the public and media scrutiny ("fair & balanced" or otherwise) that comes along with such trappings. She thinks she can be marketed like an iPad (New! Mysterious! Think different!) and the votes will just fly off the shelves.

But even the iPad has to stand up to reviews, and I hope Americans remember that those in the public sphere in our democracy have an obligation to allow themselves to be questioned and criticized. As it stands, I have a lot more faith in Steve Jobs' ability to improve the iPad based on bad reviews than I do in Sarah Palin's ability to improve her leadership skills based on a few highly paid speeches and book tours.

  111. Michael Haynes

The media has created this two-headed monster. The blind support for Obama and his historic run to the Whitehouse, and now his stint in the Whitehouse, has the media so afraid to say anything negative about Obama. Everytime someone has stepped up to criticize Obama or his policies, they are crucified by the media and calls of rasicm are heard all over. So rather than addressing his flaws and speech errors, they attack anyone and everyone else in the media.

Palin has some good points and some bad ones. The problem is that most of the people who have an unfavorable opinion of Palin have never taken the time to learn anything about her and base their opinions on the negatives they have heard in the media.

    February 16, 2010 at 6:34 pm |

  113. Aaron, Owings Mills, MD

Sarah Palin is now afraid of the media after she made a fool of her self and botched two prime interviews with Katie Couric and Charles Gibson during her 2008 vice presidential candicacy with John McCain for 2008 Presidential Campaign. In a way, this situation is a good one since it will prevent Palin from ever effectively running for any higher public office in the future and thus, the nation will be spared the pain and agony of having to be subjected to the rule of another idiotic and incompetant political leader. Palin should understand that successful political leaders must respect the free press and must respect transparency and public accountability. But she does not and she was a journalist !! This is Amazing!!

    Jack,
Palin pretends to have core beliefs. However, she only says what her audience wants to hear in order to get what she wants (money, political support, etc.). This causes Palin to constantly contradict herself. If the media covered most of her speeches, she would be exposed for what she really is...a fraud.

A speech from a presidential wannabe that requires a purchased ticket to be heard is definitely oxymoronic. Traditionally, candidates seem to always be on a soap box. I'm reminded of the old puzzle about a tree falling in the middle of the forest without a sound because no one was there to hear it. We should be so lucky with Palin!

Perhaps she is trying to convey some controvertial message to only those, her most devoted fans. Not having any ANY sort of record allows for deniability.
Or maybe she's taking the approach of the NFL and keeping a tight hold on her enterprise. Wanna hear her ramblings, be prepared to pay for the opportunity.

She knows she doesn't have what it takes to be President and is trying to bluff her way through. Give her enough rope and she will hang herself. 126. Sonia Prince in Nashua NH

She can deliver a speech, but it doesn't have any substance. She's slowly realizing that the country is starting to notice. Like W. Bush who stumbled every time someone asked him a question, she is not capable of answering simple questions about her core beliefs without a cheat sheet. When the questions/answers period begins, she can't remember what she believes in, doesn't understand what she's criticizing, nor is she capable of explaining what values she represents. Her latest comment "He (Obama) should use the war card on Iran" is just committing suicide for her intelligence. Does she know that they have a very capable military force, like many other capable nations around the world? Or did she get confused again and think it was Iraq?

    February 16, 2010 at 6:37 pm |
  127. Shirley A Wilcox

You ask the question "why does Sarah Palin not want news coverage while she is paid and sent around the country for exposure"? Actually I believe she is being paid by the religious right and the so-called "T Party". Does this sound like Gingrich since he crawled out from under the rock in the last election? Scared me to death that he was back and pretending to be a moderate. But I digress.
The reason is most clearly: 1. Palin is funnin so the people do not belive she wants the news media around; 2. The sensitive lady bull dog does not allow constructive criticism especially from the people below her stature; and 3. She does not want anyone to know that she is being fed words/personality as a puppet of the male Republican right. I SAY FOLLOW THE MONEY.

    February 16, 2010 at 6:37 pm |
  128. Tom H

It's sooo fun to read all the comments of the Obamaites! Sarah is making money, getting paid practice as it were, and why should she open herself to additional criticism by giving the obviously liberal press a free ride. Get over it. Report on some real news.

  129. Debbie

Palin was caught showing her incompetence and her speeches are nothing but condescending with put down one liners. Writing on the hand and high school peer bashing are immature behaviors, not one of a intellectual politician vying for the White House. Do her children help her come up with these lines . . . grow up!

    February 16, 2010 at 6:38 pm |
  130. Monica

Wink, wink! Trying to follow one of Palin's speeches is painfully taxing. She continuously contradicts herself and doesn't talk about any issues that are important. She rambles on and on and on. Seems the only thing she's good at is ridicule. Maybe the media wouldn't be so harsh on her if she would make sense, talk about what's important and stop bashing the president. Let's face it....she doesn't want us to hear what she has to say because she is a hypocrite, she's hateful and tries to incite hate and anger in people. I think she's dangerous, she lacks intelligence, lacks the will to unify the country and hey, what happened to her calling for transparency? Just not for her speeches I guess. This gal needs to go away. And for those who criticize President Obama for using a teleprompter – what president hasn't?? You betcha!

She wants to slip just below the level of wider public perception while maintaining a presence with the activist base in th hopes of painting herself as the darkhorse, independently minded, Washington outsider in 2012. Given the short political memory of the electorate, it could actually work. Sad, that.

    Jack,

If every time you let someone stay at your house, your stuff winds up missing, pretty soon you stop letting that person stay at your house. Maybe if the media would do a fair and ballanced report on her every once in a while, she would be more open to letting them into her speeches.

Simple: The woman is great at dishing dirt, but can't duck fast enough when the dirt is thrown back. Frankly, I don't see why should would want to run for Presidents. Presidents are scrutinized continuously in this 24-hour news cycle. If she can't stand it now, she'd crumble in the White House. Personally – I see her as a worthless politician. She's more of a motivational speaker? Why do I say that? Motivational speakers are great at rousing the crowd and then quickly leaving the stage before anyone can ask questions. Ha!!

As long as she can keep her content in check, this is a good way for her to make her speeches with much less opportunity for criticism. Palin tends to make an ass of herself when giving live performances. This strategy allows her to deliver her almost directly as written, published articles.

She wants the money from the events but she doesn't want her ego bruised by the coverage of her gaffes. And I may be wrong about this, but don't candidates get to keep their campaign contributions if they pull out of an election... she can get her 25 percent of the American people to donate cash, pull out of the race and keep the money... then she can go back to the "public speaking" gigs... She, like every other egotistical politician, is working the system to make money.

Its simple, she would have to write more notes and actually prepare. You also only have two hands...so not enough space to write the answers to easy questions, I.E. Do you believe in god...as palin looks down, ohhh well of course I do im american!

It's because the cameras will show her looking at her palm again. She has no knowledge of broad based issues and just reads off of papers the speech writers write for her. But if she were to sit down and were asked tough, penetrating questions, then she would NOT no how to answer them. She obviously wants to bring back Bush policies. She supported President Bush's economic policies and the Bush doctrine (even though she didn't know what it was when Charlie Gibson asked her). Noboby will vote for her if she runs in 2012. I don't think she's even relevant to talk about in the news Jack!

    Jack,
Sarah does not want the rest of the public to hear the lies and hateful anti-american gibberish she has coming from her lip-sticked poisonous mouth. She does not love her country. She is only out for herself, and has nothing but anger and contempt for the rest of the country. No wonder the equally angry tea-baggers love her so.

Because she's dumb as a bag of hair. On the one hand, she wants positive press by the news media and on the other she won't allow them to cover her so reports of how stupid she is won't be reported. She is so full of Hubris she literally makes me sick. If she any any sense at all, she would have thanks but no thanks when Mccain offered her the vp slot. She knew better than anybody that was not qualified to be vice-president.

If the media is not there, they will only be able to report what the people who attend have to say about the speech. SInce they all support this numbskull, they'll say it was great. Then the media will report it was great, and pretty soon everyone will believe it WAS great. That's the Rep strategy–repeat a lie often enough, and pretty soon everyone will believe it.

Why should she? The media has called her vile things and who cares about a media that has it's own liberal agenda? Plus, the MSM is just another extension of the Obama administration and is not the jourlanlistic institutution it used to be. Now it is just a water carrier for the libs proganda machine. Plus, the MSM is only covering for the 20% of Americans who are liberals...the rest of the country is not watching the MSM anyways....check their ratings. They are not watching...they watch elsewhere. MSM is airing nothing but dead air.

Sarah knows that her followers understand and the others never will! President Obama can't give a 5 minute speech ( which someone else writes!) without teleprompters but Sarah is a fraud for using a cheat sheet on her hand????? Let's see the President give a 20 minute speech with just a dozen words on HIS HAND and no teleprompter, then we will see who has talent and brains. Anyone can read a speech written by someone else if a teleprompter is involved. Let's see him give one from the heart!

Sarah Palin does not take criticism very well from the media. She makes too many mistakes. She cannot pronounce names properly (i.e. "Obiden" and any Arab name or country in the news), and she doesn"t know the difference between North Korea and South Korea. The media knows any politician should be able to do this things, and thus she'll get criticised. So, she only wants to talk to those who jump and cheer for her, no matter what she says. Or even if it's true or not. As long as she's blasting Obama while saying it.

She's on the entertainment circuit now and probably has only a few songs to sing. If the news media plays all of her songs, she's unlikely to bring in the crowds and the money for speeches, ghost-written books, and so on. She can play to the audience..and give them the songs they want to hear. Played over and over again on TV and the songs sound hokey pokey as she might put it, and a teensy-weensy bit paranoid and even anti-American.

Sarah Palin is seems to be able to manipulate the media into covering her even when her organization bans any media attendance. If she is seriously considering running for president she could be a candidate that big money groups and corporations could use as a figurehead to continue to dominate this country. Sarah would be a willing puppet to national and international corporations.

avenue to satisfy our lust. We can't wait to catch the next episode of
Sarah's " Great Political Train Wreck ". Is it little wonder that politics

She is a darling of the religious right, and if you look into her church's activities over the years, some of the practices are disturbing–witch-hunting, speaking in tongues, etc.. She was the only VP candidate Pro-Life and anti-Gay marriage enough for the likes of James Dobson (head of Focus on the Family)and other evangelicals, and she may be uncomfortable exposing these proclivities/positions to the general public and media–as if her image could get any worse with even the semi-literate! The very idea that her speeches are somehow "intellectual property" for which one must purchase an admission ticket is the height of self-inflation on her part.

She's not confident her ignorance of national issues won't be spotted when she's placed under scrutiny. She might be smart enough to be an Alaska politician, but politics in places like that is more about style than substance. She's like a good used car salesman. But don't prod too deeply into that brain because there's about 1 layer of depth.

Also it goes with her theme of "the liberal mainstream media hate me".

    Jack,
Just think for a moment ....that someone who could have been vice-president of the United States is afraid of the media. She is responsible for what comes out of her mouth and it is high time she accepts that responsibility. She is a very sad commentary on the state of politics today.

Game, set and match to the liberal attack machine – of which I am proudly a part. Now the only people that Palin can spread her message to are the morons who either (a) pay to hear her speak, (b) watch Fox News, (c) buy 'her' book or (d) attend Tea Party rallies. Now we just need her to win the Republican nomination to ensure Obama 2012!!!

You in the media just don't get it. With Palin it is all about the money. That is the only thing she cares about. She would run for dog catcher if they paid her $100,000.00 for a speech. She'll run for president for the money she can keep. My tax money.

Because it's one thing to be thought of as a fool, and another to open your mouth and prove it.

She doesn't want to be exposed nationally as a fraud, dimwit, hypocrit, etc. again.

Why can't the media heed the latest polling that shows that 71% of the country doesn't think she's qualified and stop covering this woman? Enough already. I don't care how much the right props her up, she's not destined for national office.

Sarah is the perfect Republican, she can talk for hours without saying anything. Her speeches like the Republicans ideas are the same old thing said over and over again. Hey let’s cut taxes… oh wait that doesn’t work. Let try trickle down economics…oh wait that doesn’t work. I know let’s cut taxes and try trickle down economies together. Lets support wall street and screw main street since wall street fills our pockets with cash. Lets come up with good ideas and then not vote for them because Obama likes them?

Sarah is fun to hate. I guess she must be fun to like too, though that's hard to understand. Maybe just stirring the pot is fun for some to watch.
Stirring the pot may make good news stories, but a leader needs more. Her kind of negativity doesn't go far in the long run. She's just going to get rich off it.

She does not want any coverage from "the liberal media" because coverage makes her look stupid. I mean, has she ever said anything that makes sense? By keeping it private, she can stay on tour and cash in the bucks. That's pathetic. I hope the Palin fad goes away soon.

To be respectful, I think it is called the Teabag Party not the the Tea Party. They do not want the idea spread around that they believe in loose-leaf tea or some of that foreign weird tea. These are people who believe very much in the regular, normal teabag that you can buy at the supermarket. Please call them the Teabag Party from now on.

Why even discuss Palin, let's talk about the capture of the #2 guy in the Taliban. That will have a bigger impact on our lives then Mrs. Quitter harping on the media about her being uniquely UNQUALIFIED to be President or Vice President. If she stands up in front of an audience and has to read off her palm then what does that say about her and her abilities. At least be professional and write the words on a 3×5 card.

Palin is a manufactured personality. Don't the Republicans have anyone better than this? All she does is criticize Obama without any substantive solutions of her own – all just for the sake of keeping her dumb image in our faces till she can run in the next election. How did she get this far? I do NOT want a soccer mom for my president and she is uneducated, unworldly and plumb dumb!

    Jack,

Its pretty obvious – she’s clueless! I mean really, who has to write “lift American Spirits” on their hand to remember it? That alone speaks volumes of this woman. Why all the hatred? She's actually really inspirational and someone I want to hear more from. No, I'm not a tea party Republican. I'm an independent and really like what she has to say. I also like her leadership in Alaska, at least before the election.

The main reason may be that she doesn't want her words to come back & bite her should she decide to run for office. Personally I don't think she is interested in a JOB, she only wants to ca$h in.
