No one who actually takes the time to consider how we got into this mess in the first place can believe an eight-year problem can be solved with a two-year solution. It's going to take some time to dig ourselves out of this considerable hole left by Bush, et al.

Voters should exercise patience, Obama has only been president for 6 months. It took bush eight years to destroy the economy, I think we are setting an unrealistic time line for economic recovery.

For over forty years, Republicans have never been able to lower the deficit even for a single time. The economic problems and unemployment only become worse under the Republican presidency. Mr. Obama has been in the government for only four months since the stimulus package was approved. Until when banks and the speculators are regulated, it is much difficulty to create jobs without regulated financial institutions and instruments.

Jack,
Voters have for the most part figured out that there is no difference between the parties. No point throwing blame. But many do see the need to revolt against the global corporations and the Illuminati.

They should be blaming the Rep….Half the Rep Governors have failed to use or have stated clearly that they will not use the stimulus money….how many have actually used the funds allocated to stimulate their state….I think they are thinking politics and not about the people, economy or your country….good luck….Toronto, Canada

Voters usually do blame leadership when times are tough. The legitimate blame, however, is shared by a group of people who are emotionally and intellectually incapable of owning up to their mistakes: baby boomers. Our leaders are more like scapegoats for a selfish and rather unAmerican generation that talks the American talk; but can't walk the American walk.

Republicans have been blaming the Democrats for all the increases for years, even when it was the Republicans doubling the deficit ands increasing entitlements from $20 trillion to over $50 trillion over the past 8 years.

Only the most gullible people believe them.

If you want some REAL enlightenment, take a look at the government's own EMPLOYED figures for the past two decades! There are millions out of work that haven't even been counted sisnce 2002!

Referencing Reagan to ask if voters will punish Obama for unemployment seems like planting a seed of “self-fulfilling prophecy” is this what you’d like to see? Jack, you’re a fine fellow but perhaps a nattering nabob of negativism? Enough Obama bashing!

Jack,

People have, and always will, vote their pocketbook. They vote hoping that the person they vote for will keep their promise, for once ,to improve their living conditions. The problem is politicians make promises that they know they can't or won't keep. Politicians bank on the short memories that voters have in order to be re-elected. Americans are spoiled and impatient. Voters are basically ignorant of the responsibilities and powers of elected officials. If their fiscal status improves then Democrats will maintain their status. If not, they will make more promises that they know they won't keep. Either way, we lose.
