Indeed, he does. It amazes me how white collar criminals get preferential treatment in America. He needs to sit in jail and contemplate the illegal decisions he's made.

I do not think people have much patience to see this type of special treatment.

Madoff is the tip of the iceberg here Jack. Check the judge's accounts and the accounts of whoever appointed the judge. It's a "ponzi" scheme remember!

Yes, it is a given Madoff should be in jail, but that's American Justice for you. There is none!

I read the following about him. It sums it up quite nicely. What he has done is to radically expand the scope and viciousness of betrayal. He not only betrayed his friends, but his closest friends. He betrayed the trust of those who entrusted him with everything they had saved. He betrayed charities whose good works he extinguished in a day. These betrayals are epic in their scope and in their utter lack of remorse or responsibility. He not only made a bad calculation about how money works, he made a bad calculation about how life works. He gave no value to what matters and all value to what does not matter at all.

No. The issue is bail, not guilt. Madoff probably is a scurrilous villain, but he is still presumed innocent until he is convicted or enters a guilty plea. The issue today was whether he violated his bail. The court decided he had not done so, but did impose additional conditions, including having all his outgoing mail searched, and he remains unable to leave without being escorted.

It appears that the judge that made this decision left his reading glasses at home and thought the paperwork read "MADE OFF" instead of Madoff. Once again our illustrious judicial system shows that the rich and famous can do what they please, regardless if it causes people to loose everything they own.
Question: If one of the people that Madoff screwed out of millions or thousand of dollars commits suicide becuase they lost everything will he be charged with premeditated murder?
