As for the children, they'll get age appropiate gifts - one of which will be a magazine or book club - the gifts that keep giving. I consider myself lucky to be in the position to do that, a lot of famillies are completly unable to purchase any. Maybe this era can be a learning experience for the Y generation that money does'nt grow on tree's and you should be thankful for what you do have.
