Unless she cooperates,I will not trust her and think she has something to hide.

She is acting like a typical republican as far as I'm concerned who believe themselves above the law. She must have something to hide and thus is avoiding the scandal until after the election. Since I believe most people are seeing her for the pathological liar that she is I'm fine with her avoidance, it will catch up to her eventually.

An honorable person with nothing to hide would cooperate with the investigation, especially after stating she would. What's she hiding? McCain/Palin looks more and more like Bush/Cheney every day.

I want to read her private email account with Yahoo, where she conducted governmental business so she could preemptively keep things secret. The next thing after a subpoena is an indictment. The McCain campaign's effort to shut down this investigation only raises suspicions that there's something disqualifying out there concerning Gov. Palin. Moreover, after eight years of "unitary executive" and "executive privilege", this is simply more evidence that John McCain equals George Bush.

As you know, she is not cooperating with the political inquest, which was ignited by two Dem members of the AK legislature, probably at the behest of the Obama campaign, but WILL cooperate with the proper channels of inquiry. So it's not a matter of cooperating or not cooperating. The uproar over this matter is political, and most voters will recognize it as such.

Will it affect me? As I have said many times I really do not want either ticket, but I really, really do not want Obama to win for reasons I have spelled out here repeatedly. Palin is somewhat more qualifed than Obama, but neither should be running for the offices for which they were nominated. The whole thing is a joke – there are thousands of persons out there who are far more qualified!

Sara Palin will never get my vote, but she may get my respect if she behaves like she cares about the laws of our country and the constitution.

Its disturbing because it is part of a bigger picture. Since we've only been told that she is a maverick reformer, and everything else is supposed to be none of our business, we are left to draw conclusions from what little we know. Her stonewalling makes it seem likely that she fired a guy for not going along with her family retribution wishes. Add that to the story of firing a librarian who was not open to book banning and a pattern starts to emerge. Now add up all the little white lies about the bridge, Iraq, Ireland, earmarks, and you end up wondering if she is really a hockey mom. The even more bothersome aspect is the attitude that she does bot need to respond to legal inquiry. Is this some sort of oath they take when they run under the Republican banner? The McCain lawyers buzzing around the case reminds me of the swarm that tied the Florida recount up with "legal actions" until it was too late to matter. I hate to see that sort of tactic succeed. It seems sort of, well, unamerican.

It's human nature to think the worst when someone refuses to cooperate. My dad always told me if you have nothing to hide you have nothing to worry about.

A bigger concern might be a Governor of a state using Yahoo to communicate official business. It showed poor judgment on Sarah Palin's part. It showed a lack of understanding of how the world communicates and the need to use discretion and consider all potential ramifications of one's actions.

Political figures are not above the law–they must follow subpoenas and not obstruct justice just like the rest of us. If she cooperates, then most of us would assume she's innocent until proven guilty. Since she is not, then what are we supposed to deduce? Not only does it appear she is probably guilty and is attempting to cover it up, she is in parallel with Cheney, et. al. in completely disregarding the legal system. Neither of them should be allowed to do that and both should be punished for their lack of cooperation.

"Troopergate" is important because it speaks to how Ms Palin would govern should she succeed to the presidency. After the Political firings of Attorneys and the illegal political screening of civil service candidates, we don't want the same sort of abuse of power in a new administration. If, as she has said, Gov. Palin has done nothing wrong, You'd think she would want to get the matter behind her rather than leave the question open. The McCain campaign's claiming that an investigation begun before she was VP candidate and moved forward in committees with Republican majorities is somehow a partisan witchhunt just makes it look worse.

The entire world should care. We need to know about the people who potentally will oversee us as a nation. Palin's background is a bit suspicious. As a public figure and a professional, she should be more that willing to cooperate with authorities surrounding this case just for the sake of the American people. If not, you have to wonder what is she really trying to hide behind those windshield whippers for glasses.

Gov Palin seems to have trouble cooperating with anyone, even her running mate. Today in Cedar Rapids she referred to the "Palin-McCain Ticket." Now she wants top billing! Troopergate is the least of the Palin ... oops, I mean the McCain campaign's problems.

I care a LOT. By accusing the investigation of being "tainted" even though is was called for by her own state's representatives, saying first that she would cooperate, but then, after reading her Karl Rove playbook, deciding not to, and blaming the Obama team for what a mess it is, I'd say the moose-hunting bulldog in lipstick needs to live up to what she promised and take her lumps. I am outraged! She is no different than anyone else in this country, and if a state government is calling you in for an interview, or a subpoena, you had better go. She has to account for her behavior with transparency, or she needs to go! (transparency will probably ensure that she goes). If Palin is subpoenaed by a bipartisan unanimous vote with a majority of Republicans to Alaska to be interviewed, and she does not go, In my opinion, a US Marshall should be sent out to bring her back in cuffs. That is what the US Marshalls would do to anyone else.

It matters because the case is about ethics and transparency in government, something that has been missing at the federal level for the last 8 years. By not cooperating, Obama's argument of "more of the same" seems to be right because it gives us all Rove flashbacks.

While there is always some sort of political aspect to these types of investigations, I don't think Palin and McCain are doing themselves any favors by trying to make it go away. It is particularly interesting that she was willing to testify before being selected as McCain's VP. Perhaps back then she thought she could weather the storm, but now that the Republicans have put her on this very high pedestal the sordid details might just bring her back down to earth.

Palin should cooperate to show that she has some type of integrity. However, McCain was able to slide through the Keating Five mess without doing any time so Palin obviously thinks she should slide through her mess with the same results. Some people just think they are above the law.

The investigation was ongoing prior to her selection as VP yet the Democrats are being blamed. If she has nothing to hide, why is she refusing to cooperate? Maybe, just like the Attorney General Gonzales, if she refuses to coopporate, it will go away and the people will forget about it. You've got to love our political system.

Peronally, I don't care whether Palin cooperates in the investigation or not, John McCain picked Palin. However, it does bring into question John McCain's credibility and judgement when he speaks about "Change" and how Palin is going to "Shakeup Washington".

When someone has something to hide they usually try to stall the investigation and do not answer any questions about it. I think that is what the governor of Alaska and the McCain campaign is doing. If she did not have anything to fear or hide you would think she would want to get this thing over with as quickly as possible. Things like this can come back and bite you in the rear end. I think that is what is going to happen in this case.

I want Karl Rove to testify. I want Dick Cheney to go to jail. Bush is going back to Texas and Palin will be going back to Alaska. Moral relativism is a sin except when it isn't (i.e. it's ok if you're a republican). Who cares?

I don't know enough about the facts to conclude whether this is a breach of Gov. Palin's ethics, or even the law. However I DO know that the way it is being handled up in Alaska STINKS of more Bush White House stonewalling and the crap that brought us into Iraq on lies. So my short answer would be, yes, it does matter to me as it is just more of the same Republican antics that have got us in the mess we are in now.
And I'm talking not of the economy, but of the constitutional problems we now have from a white house that appropriated powers to itself that are not justified under the constitution.

After all, Monegan will DEFINITELY agree to be interviewed, as will anyone else involved who is not friendly with Palin.
Nobody from Palin's side will be there, it looks like.
So the investigator can legitimately write a report based ONLY on Monegan's input, and state that 'no information to contradict Monegan's statements was forthcoming, so we accept what he says as truth'.
Which means the report will be VERY negative for Palin..... just in time for the election!

Being a retired police detective I believe it's a very good sign that she has something to hide. Unfortunately, the defense attorneys will prolong the results until after the election. It's a typical political ploy, but I will say that this type of response has been in the Republican playbook forever. That fact alone makes me even more suspicious.

The Republicans cry about tough media coverage, sexism, favoritism, and "tainted" investigations whenever they don't want to face the music and want to give their base a finger to point at to distract from the truth.

I think if America can demand an answer to a question as ridiculous as "why doesn't Obama wear a flag pin" then yes, this is something that is absolutely important enough to be asking questions about. It just seems strange to me how much we're hearing about how "unfairly" Palin is being treated by the media, when Obama himself had to overcome many more ridiculous, and pointless topics... and so here we are, with questions that actually pertain to how Palin will govern, and they're not being addressed.

Jack- The only thing she doesn't hide is how well she's be coached to say what she's be told by her handlers. When asked about foreign policy experience, she would have gotten my attention if she had said " not much, but I'm a fast learner". Honesty is VERY attractive.

After 8 years of Bush's abuses, the last thing I would want is a Governor even near the White House who in 18 months fired a librarian, and the Public Safety Commissioner for not compling with her desires. Add to that she tried to fire a cop in retribution for angering her and her family. To me, it indicates that she uses power as a stick with which to beat down those who oppose her. I'm scared to see what she would do with even more power.

It only matters insofar as it's a matter of trust and transparency! For the Repubs to try to bully the situation and say she won't cooperate negates their trust and belies the "transparency" they're espousing. But, you know what? I do think Sarah Palin does have an obligation to the citizen of her state and more importantly the rest of America. The fact that Palin has the option to cooperate with this investigation is bothersome to me as a voter. She is a vice presidential candiadate, nothing should be left questionable or unexamined prior to November 4th. I care greatly that Sarah Palin may not cooperate with the investigation. Not because I think she’s guilty of any wrongdoing, but because she seems to think that subpoenas are ‘optional’, and as Governor, she has the choice of operating her administration above the law. It shows that she fits in very well with the current way of thinking in the Republican administration in the White House, which also ignores congressional subpoenas and other requests for testimony and information.

"Troopergate" is a small town issue and in the grand scheme of things probably not that important. It is however a true test of Palin's character as a politician for abuse of her position and as a person for lying about it. Worse yet she's using her political power (lol, that's funny) to delay the investigation by refusing to cooperate. Republicans are just going toss up one road block after another and hope the real truth doesn't surface until after they win the election. After listening to Palins original comments regarding the trooper cover up, and then listening to her staffs voicemails/emails- I'd say yes it matters. Palin has no choice at this point. It's rediculous to think that Palin is refusing to coorperate with an investigation that's being conducted by her own administration into a matter she previously agreed to participate in and she's talking about transparency in government? She has agreed to run for the second highest office in the Country, with no media scrutiny prior to John McCain announcing her as his running mate, who has not presented her tax returns to the public for review, and has never given a straight answer to any questions on how she'll lead or demonstrated her expertise on foreign policy, and she wants a pass from the American people? Lets see, we pay the big bucks to CEO's to know what they're doing – to plan, anticipate, to know whether the money they loan is apt to be paid back or not, right?

And we don't think we should have to be concerned about wealthy congressmen accepting $250,000 in building costs in Alaska, nor $10,000 unreported income from Puerto Rico. But then what do we know? We're just taxpayers.

Yes I care tremendously. Can't help but think that the failure to cooperate means there is a lot more to the story. The initial inquiry had many more Republicans voting yes then Democrats, and began before Palen was ever nominated. The actual commitee doing the investigation consists of 3 Republicans and 2 Democrats. I'm sure they support there party candidates. So to say this is partisan is rediculous.

I think it’s another example of Republicans disregarding the law. If she doesn’t cooperate she should be arrested and charged. Politicians created and skew the laws but then are treated like they are above them.

I have concerns about Palin on a few fronts. First, her willingness to put her daughter into the national spotlight speaks more to her personal ambition than her concern as a mother – that young girl had no context to understand what she would be getting into, even if Palin asked her if it was OK. That's an ugly sign of how she makes decisions. Second: I can easily understand a sister being furious when she feels her sibling is being badly wronged in a divorce. But to then exercise a vendetta against someone who would not fire your hated brother-in-law is a petty abuse of power. it again seems to show a lack of restraint on the ambition/power front. Third: Deciding it's now all too messy to cooperate with the investigation when she said she welcomed it in the past tells me she knows this will not go well for her. If she knows, we should know too. It all speaks to a disturbing willfulness. We have had eight years of willful mailed-fist policies. Enough!

Look, we've just spent the last 7 2/3 years with a President and Vice-president who not only disrespected the law, but the Constitution and the people of the United States as well. Basically doing the same thing as Palin.

I care about as much as I did when the Clinton's were being unduly pummeled over Whitewater...The public should view it for what it is, an investigation, and let it run its course...there are lots of substantive issues in this election that merit the country's attention...Troopergate isn't one of them...

I think that her resistence to co-operate in the invesigation will cast doubts of her innocence. The image emerging of Sarah is that she practiced cronyism in Alaska. Now that the national spotlight is on the investigation there will more scrutiny.

She should be charged with impeding the process of an investigation. Then, she'll go to jail; where she belongs! Then she can spend 7500 days in all of her constituents that she governed as mayor of Wasilla.

A person who at any time could be the chief law enforcement officer of our country should be transparent with concern to the law, when they are the subject of an investigation. This ensures respect for the law from the bottom up and top down. Even Clinton appointed special investigators to investigate himself, when questions were raised. Her refusal to cooperate not only makes her look like she's hiding something, but it makes the public she would be in charge of think she has the attitude that she's above the law, and the law and justice is suppose to be blind no matter if a petty thief or well connected politician steps over the line. I hate to rush to judge but this lady smells foul to me. Our laws work because good people abide by them, and bad people are forced to obey.

As a government official she has an obligation to full disclosure. You can't hold government office and then expect to avoid having to explain yourself when you make a controversial decision. If Sarah Palin is truly clean in this matter then why not cooperate with the investigation? Her silence is only creating doubts in the American people's minds as to whether she will be an honest and trust worthy VP.

Yes, Palin ought to tell the truth. Sarah Palin is not being smeared or attacked, she is just a blatant liar to Americans. America deserves better than better than Palin. America is at serious risk with Palin because she is not trustworthy at all. She makes up stories and carries on and on. She should be dropped as VP if she is not willing to cooperate with investigators to prove her innocence in firing a person unfairly.

When I logged in there were 197 blogs posted; 5 of these were in Palin’s favor. I am more concerned that 97.46% would not vote for a McCain/Palin ticket.

Perhaps we should start looking into what Diebold will be doing to make this race a win for the Republicans. Can you report on this issue? We will be confronting it soon and there are websites that are not showing Diebold in a favorable position.

If you have nothing to hide....you have nothing to fear. Cooperate and let the facts be told. I would NEVER vote for someone that could not be truthful. By refusing to cooperate it tells me she has something to hide. I was interested in her at first, but we don't need another dishonest politician.

Of course it matters. She going for one of the top positions in the nation. Even with that said I'm sure the Republican party will try to keep the funk under the cover. It will be interesting to watch this one play out.

To describe herself as an outsider she sure doesn't look like one with this move. Looking back I'm sure she'll think that being a Gov might have helped to maneuver the investigation to suit her.

Also I'd like to note that the very first time Americans invited her into thier homes via TV she lied to us – point blank with a straight face.

She said she sold the Governor's plane on eBay which turned to to be... (hint: false).

It shouldn't come as a surprise to Palin that this probe is a big deal. It's not like it just happened, and the scrutiny is a good thing – after all, she wants to be a heartbeat away from the top job!

I just have a hard time understanding why she's changed her stance away from cooperation if she has nothing to hide. Isn't the truth supposed to set you free? Maybe that's the problem...

How is it that so many believe she has refused to cooperate? If she has announced she would cooperate with state law which means have it settled by the personnel board, how is that a refusal to cooperate. Obviously the attacks, the lies and character assassinations have escalated since she rec'd the VP nod, I don't blame her for refusing to participate in that witch hunt.

On another note I've pointed out CNN's remarkable penchant for ommitting critical facts, and my posts have not appeared here. If this issue was reported homestly by Cafferty, so many wouldn't believe she has refused. Amazing!
