My boss, a Physical Therapist, asked why I was having to take time off with little advance notice to make appointments at the VA. I disclosed to her that I was having a problem with PTSD and was trying to get help from the VA (a different form of abuse!). The following Monday I was escorted out of the hospital first thing and told I could not go to my office and that my personal items would be delivered to my car. This from a hospital that advertises that it is a small town friendly, family and pridefully "supports our troops"

After working for the man for 11 years, I had a heart attack. At the end of my recuperation (about three weeks), when he knew I would be returning in a few days, I had a phone call from him telling me he couldn't wait any longer and fired me.

I had a boss out here in Arizona try to tell me at the end of my shift that i had to stay after to work over time so he could get some personal matters taken care of. Not a big deal up front but the fact that it was 30 min. before i was to leave. I told him to kiss my blue collar butt. I work for the union out here and he did not like that. And the big personal matter was he had to get new tires and rims put on his personal vehicle. So its people need to stand up for themselves to talk to their bosses. I do not tolerate bosses who talk down to employees, talk to them is one thing, talk down to them and your force goes away.

The crummiest thing my boss ever did was send me into a crawl space filled with crumbling asbestos with no mask or protective gear. Of course I didn't know it was asbestos until I had filled a bucket with the powdery stuff and said, "Here, throw this in the trash." The response: "I can't, that's asbestos!" The reason my boss sent me in to wallow in the death dust--he had dropped a $2 screwdriver in it and wanted it back.

On June 19, 2008 I had a meeting with HR at 2:00 pm and earlier that morning my boss spoke to me and never said a word to me about my meeting later that day with HR. When I went to the meeting HR informed me that my contract would not be renewed and to this very date my boss nor the athletic director at the university were I worked for 9 years has never spoken a word to me regarding the non-renewal or a thanks for the 9 years of work. You would think that after 9 years of service HR wouldn't be the person to tell you this news.

Thanks,

Angie

The crummiest boss I ever had wouldn’t let me go to my best friend’s funeral because I was going to need the half-day afternoon off to attend it. He wouldn’t let me go because I had just had my day off the day before. I learned that in future all my friends/relatives funerals must be scheduled on my days off.

I work at a hospital office. The worst thing my boss has ever done to me and my co-workers were when we were watching the Situation Room one day, and the jerk made us change the channel when the Cafferty File portion of the hour started, i guess he was just jealous of Jack's charisma.

I went without a vacation for two years because I saved my leave because my husband had been ill. I ended up working everyday and paid sitters to stay with my husband. I, finally, scheduled a vacation and my boss cancelled it on the Friday when it was to start so he could go to see his daughter. He had taken numerous days off during the two years I was working and living with the stress of my husband's illness. What a jerk!
