I'm a white man from the Midwest and I think very few of Rev. Wright's detractors have even listened closely to the majority of what he's said--whether that be the *entirety* of his sermons, the Moyers interview, or the recent speeches. While Rev. Wright's 'timing' is open to dispute, if you get past the shallow, white hot political polarization battle that the media desires and pushes onto us endlessly, Rev. Wright actually shows more intelligence and thoughtfulness than many commentors here and elsewhere on the net.

He's a pastor, not a politician, it's his job to denounce and call people (and nations) back to righteousness when they've strayed (even the USA), and his language will reflect that. His sermons were maliciously 'sound-bited', and he and his church have done a ton of good things in Chicago, so he has a right to defend his church--and the overall African-American church message--when attacked by so many. What amazes me is so many expressions of white 'righteous anger' that bursts forth at the briefest expose' of 'black anger'! Has this country grown wiser and more tolerant over the past 40 years or has it not?

C'mon folks, this potentially will open up the deepest conversation on race in this country in over half a century, let's not take out our anger at Wright on Barack, let's hear the truth spoken by both of them, despite their different approaches. Don't goad this right-wing dream of more black-(Wright) on-black (Obama) violence any further. It was the media that set up this charade of a conflict and that perpetuates it, rather than publishing the deeper discussions/conversations about race and class in America in the 21st century that could lead to healing and reconciliation.

I voted for Senator Obama in the Ohio primary. With everything that I've learned since March 4th, I wish I could take my vote back. He surrounds himself with kooks and it makes me wonder what he really believes.

He has lost this Independent in November.

Wright now has his 15 minutes of fame ... and I think it high time that the media does the respectable thing and ignore him. My heart goes out to Obama. He (Obama) does not appear to me to be the typical loud mouth, aggressive politician... He appears to be the type of individual who is a more quiet and gentle man. He has taken the high road with Hillary and it must be so painful for him to acknowledge that someone that he loved and respected would have behaved as Wright has done. He will certainly carry the pain a long time and he should not be blamed for the obnoxious behavior of of Rev. Wright. What a sad situation!!!!!

I think that it is very unfortunate that wright( I want even call him reverand, because a man of the cloth does not act like him), has the hate that he has in his heart. It is evident that he is capitalizing on an opportunity to enhance himself. I personally think that Obama did not go to church half of the time so therefore he did not know what was going on. If the supporters of Obama can rise above wright they can defeat this message of hate. It will be a sad day in America if Obama falls because of this, and this is the only dirt that is found on him. I think that if he does not become president we will miss the opportunity to experience a great leader. Please provide the public with a e-mail for wright.

Obama has shown he is cut from the same cloth as every other politician: say anything, do anything, and align yourself with anyone you think can help you get the votes & then cut & run when the going gets tough. I am not saying that Hillary & McCain are any better, just that Obama is no different.

The Reverends remark is not Obama's as the rest of the spinners like you to think. We the people can make our own decision to nominate this man (Mr. Obama) as the President of USA. We are going back one step behind from the nominee when Hillary squiks for help from McCain about Jeremaih Wright. By denying her debate, we expedited her exit for 08 but not yet. We must focus on finding the truth by ourselves looking no further but at Obama. His life is as open book. As a leader if he call for UNITY and CHANGE the life of the people it means let us UNITE and CHANGE ourselves. Let's stop the divide and conquer philosophy of the CLINGTON'S. Stop the Drama only with OBAMA 08.

Hmm... Wright's comments have forced Obama into a corner from which there is not escape, without himgetting his feet covered in a radical stance that is sure to haunt him in November. But, Wright's blatant disregard for Obama's campaign now allows the candidate to make a clear separation from the pastor's zealot posturing. I am sure that Obama is feeling disenfranchised by a person he felt was in his camp and can't help but be wondering how much the Clintons have invested in his dive into the deep end.
