FROM CNN's Jack Cafferty:

Music plays an important role on the campaign trail. The right song can rally the crowd and get them pumped up before the candidate gets onstage.

But, several of the presidential candidates have had problems when it comes to picking their music. Hillary Clinton held an online contest to choose her song and came up with the "You and I" by Celine Dion. Fine, except Dion is Canadian. That song had to be scrapped.

John McCain at one point was using John Mellencamp's hits like "Our Country" and "Pink Houses". But the liberal rocker apparently wasn't comfortable with the conservative McCain using his tunes and told him to stop. McCain also ran into problems using the theme song from "Rocky," and also opted against using "Take a Chance on Me" by the Swedish group Abba because of licensing and other concerns.

Mike Huckabee tried playing "More than a Feeling" by the group Boston. They balked, saying Huckabee didn't have permission and was, "the polar opposite of most everything Boston stands for."

As for Barack Obama, he reportedly flicks through his i-Pod at campaign events and picks his favorite Stevie Wonder or Aretha Franklin tune. But on the night of the New Hampshire primary, they played Wonder's "Signed, Sealed, Delivered." Whoops. He lost that night to Clinton.

Here’s my question to you: What theme song would you suggest for any of the remaining presidential candidates?

Interested to know which ones made it on air?

Robert from Cranston, Rhode Island writes:

McCain: “War Pigs”, “Help!”
Huckabee: “Spirit in the Sky”

Obama: “Imagine”, “We're not gonna take it anymore”
And finally, Obama to McCain and Hillary: “Stuck in the Middle with you”

McCain: “Flintstones, meet the Flintstones, they're the modern Stone age family!”

Sher from Hagerstown, Maryland writes:
McCain: “I’ll Be Watching You”
Obama: “Born in the USA”

Brian from Columbia, Maryland writes:

Obama: “Runnin’ Down a Dream”
Clinton: “Free Fallin’”
McCain: “The Waiting”
Huckabee: “I Won’t Back Down”
Nader: “Don’t Come Around Here No More”

Leticia writes:
Mike Huckabee: “Livin’ on a Prayer”
John McCain: “Born in the USA”
Hillary Clinton: “Can’t Get No Satisfaction”
Barack Obama: “A Change is Gonna’ Come”
Ralph Nader: “Never Gonna Get It”

RC writes:
Obama: “Runaway Train”
Clinton: “What Do I Have to Do To Make You Want Me”
Mccain: “If You Could Only See”

Here are my picks for the candidates theme songs:

McCain:
"The best is yet to come" – Sinatra.
McCain would fail if he tried to tie himself to any mnodern song.
It would be a good message for him from, a perosn closer to his generation.

Hillary:
"There's whiskey in the jar" – Classic Irish Folk Song.
She is not going to beat Obama....So it is time for a drink!

Obama:
"Man in the mirror" – Michael Jackson
The message of change, and actually some excellent lyrics.
This would fit Obama very well.

Great Show as Always,

Jack a fitting theme song, for the remaining candidates and our nation, as well would be, "Are the good times really over for good", by country legend Merle Haggard. Listen to this 1981 song and you'll see how much it applies, to our nation's problems and concerns. It's definitely a beer drinking song Jack.

For McCain: "It's the End of the World As We Know It (And I Feel Fine)", by R.E.M. If there's any song that can sum up John McCain's campaign and his potential effect on the country, I haven't heard it.

For Huckabee: "Don't You (Forget About Me)", by Simple Minds. The title, the lyrics, and even the band name somehow seems fitting. Plus, Mike Huckabee seems like a Breakfast Club sort of person.

For Clinton: "Big Girls Don't Cry", by Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons. It's a classic song that everyone knows, and a lesson that she should keep in mind from now on.

For Obama: "Living in America", by James Brown. I've always wanted a presidental campaign to use the song. It's got a great beat, you can dance to it (I'd give it a 9), and it really speaks to America as a whole.

James in Cape Coral, FL   February 29th, 2008 3:35 pm ET

Changes by David Bowie: for Obama, it suits his campaign. Also Hail to the Chief: for Hillary, fit's her attitude. And best of all, Fortunate Son by CCR, which amplifies my position on his war hungry attitude.

There's no bad day that can't be overcome by listening to a song by any barbershop quartet. As you are to me."

Hillary's theme song should be "I'm Sorry 2004"–by Ruben Studdard...because she must be sorry she didn't run in 2004!

Obama's theme song should be "I'm Gonna Knock You Out...Mamma Said Knock You Out!"–by L.L. Cool J. That is definitely the song of a champion. Addionally, Obama rhymes with Mamma!

"Rock-a-bye-baby."

As a Clinton sleeps her phone rings forever?

I thought it amusing that the current "phone" ad is intended to engender fear - rather it gave me additional pause for concern about Senator Clinton's lack of executive skills.

Do we want a CEO who lets the phone ring, while a world crisis could be ongoing? I think not.

The phone ad just reinforces the lack of long and short range planning, fiscal reasonableness, and lack of execution in her campaign; all of which reinforces good reasons why she lacks skill and experience as a CEO.

For Obama there is a Chicago song called Glory of Love that has perfect lyrics for him. It says "I am the man who will fight for your honor. I'll be the hero you've been dreaming of. We'll live forever, knowing together that we did it all for the glory of love". Since his message is one of hope, and love, and coming together for the greater good. I think that one is perfect.

For Hillary I think that old Paula Abdul song Cold Hearted Snake is perfect for her..but just change he to she..."She's a cold hearted snake, look into her eyes...uh oh...she's been telling lies".....Yep, sums her up just perfect!!

Except that Bob Seger's song suggests hardship and struggleing for survival in oppressive economic conditions that John McCain's presidency would likely deliver, the song "Against the Wind" certainly brings up an image of old man McCain leaning into the winds of change and making very little progress.

Music certainly does play an important role on the campaign trail, and society in general. In Sen. Obama's case, given his politics of change and fierce urgency of now i would suggest NOT using well known dated songs. Why not try something new, something different, a change if you will. Sen. Obama needs a song capable of inspiring his movement. 'The Time is Now' by Ohio artist Illogic is perfect. Senator, have your people get my email address from CNN and i'll forward an mp3 for your i-pod.

When Senator Obama won in Iowa I heard a theme song that didn't resonate with him or with his campaign...I immediately sent an email to them and expressed they neede to use... SIGNED SEALED DELIVERED by Stevie Wonder as atheme song...Although he didn't win in New Hampshire...The song has continued because of the fact it gives credence to his platform. (1)...He SIGNED that he would run for President... (2)He has DELIVERED powerful messages of hope change and empowerment to motivate the people to become invoved in the political process...(3)He's willing to say I'M YOURS if you join me in an effort to make change for a better future for our country in voting me as the next President of the United States of America.

Bettie Givens   February 29th, 2008 5:07 pm ET

We the people of our United States have been through so much, we have to be careful that there are now still some that would taunt, and ridicule those that would dare to try change, and better our existence. We have now heard the bearing of falsehoods. We have heard the old relic cry's, and echo's of the deep whispered southern tone of lynching, the attempts of lies, and not hidden prejudices against attempts to bring back America's honor, and it's dignity. The stolen good moments turned into vivious, trashy politics. How can we as a whole stand up to thepower of money, and the political party that is not willing to give it all up? We had better find a way. If we the American people want to survive we must do it now, or we will be lost. Our future will be deeply buried in the past, all because we did not take a stand against power, and money. Change is indeed what our country needs. Change will be our survival.

Ron Paul- "The Sound of Silence"- apparently not enough people heard this prophet and only heard the silence... good thing the message is written on the subway walls and tenement halls... literally sometimes, with the number of bumper stickers and handwritten "Ron Paul"s I've seen....

never knowing i'll be singing this song someday" *R KELLY*

Mike, from Columbus, OH   February 29th, 2008 5:10 pm ET

Well since there seems to be a problem with using artists from other countries for these theme songs, I'll suggest songs from a single group – The Beatles. (Shhh – Most of the candidates won't know they were from England)

John McCain – "Across the Universe" – Refrain-(Nothings gonna change my world)

Mike Huckabee – "Get Back"

Ron Paul – "Nowhere Man"

Hillary Clinton – A medley of"Help" AND "Day Tripper"

Barack Obama – "Here Comes the Son"

From FT Lewis, WA

Robert, Cranston RI   February 29th, 2008 5:16 pm ET

Hillary – I guess that's why they call it the blues – Elton John (I'd be depressed too after 11 straight losses)

Or "She's a Maniac" – Flashdance (If it's one thing a growing number of Democrats and Republicans can agree on is that the title of this song is true for Hillary)

McCain – War Pigs by Black Sabbath (Only 95 more years in Iraq John?)

Help! – The Beatles (He's gonna need alot of it against Obama come November)

Huckabee – Spirit in the Sky – Norman Greenbaum (This is what Huckabee needs at the moment to pull off a victory against McCain)

Nader – Here I go again – Whitesnake (Yet sadly 99% of us wish he wasn't)

Obama – Imagine – John Lennon (This song and Obama's message say it all)

We're not gonna take it anymore – Twisted Sister (Fighting for change in America daily, a perfect song for Obama)

And finally

Obama (to McCain and Hillary) – Stuck in the Middle with you (Clowns to the left of me, Jokers to the right..That sentence alone describes his competiton for president)

Obama (to McCain) – You ain't seen nothing yet (A reminder that it's only march and McCain hasn't even seen nothing yet from Obama in terms of the election, running one, and of course debating)

Flintstones, meet the Flinstones, they're the modern Stone age family!

Chris   February 29th, 2008 5:16 pm ET

Seems to me that Obama's perfect song would be "Waiting on the World to Change" by John Mayer. I seem to remember him using this in the past and it fits perfectly with his theme, and is representative of him being in tune with younger voters.

Springsteen's "Lonesome Day" would be a great song for Hillary right now. The opening lines "Baby once I thought I knew, Everything I needed to know about you... I didnt really know that much" seem to reflect every mistake her campaign has made in the last few months.

Perhap's Dylan's "Knockin' on Heaven's Door" is an appropriate song for McCain's candidacy, or do we think that would make him look like what he is? Old.

Duncan Ross - Brandon, Manitoba, Canada   February 29th, 2008 5:16 pm ET

For Clinton, it is so obvious: "It's my party and I'll cry if I want to"

Brian   February 29th, 2008 5:18 pm ET

Clinton: "It Takes A Woman" (from the musical "Hello, Dolly!")
– The song explains how men need women to clean things up around the house, just like Washington needs a woman to clean up the mess that is now known as Washington, DC.

Obama: "I'm The Greatest Star" (from the musical "Funny Girl")
– This defiant and bombastic song displays the true talents of the musical's star, which is preforming in front of an audience. Hmm, sounds like Obama, at least when he uses his own words...

McCain: "Where or When"
– This classic song laments "I can't remember where or when..." something that the elderly McCain would probably say, along with I can't remember who or what or why or how...

Huckabee: "And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going" (from the musical "Dreamgirls")
– Even Effie White took the hint to get off the stage and stand aside.

Nader: "Stoned Love" (by the Supremes)
– Hate to break it to ya, hon, but legalized marijuana is not going to happen in the US.

Paul from Atlanta   February 29th, 2008 5:19 pm ET

Barrack Obamas theme song should be Simply the Best. he inspires the best in all of us of what is possible and can be if we only work together.

Regardless of the outcome of the election he will have inspired millions of Americans with his message of hope and possibility. If he is elected president his leadership will influence world affairs so we will once again
to concentrate one the things we are all share in common love of children and our common humanity and build a consensus to build on globably.

He is unique this election season. his is simply the best because he inspires us to aspire to be our best once again, together

For Barack Obama I think the song Changes by David Bowie would be a good song. I have a vision right now of Barack Obama taking the podium at the Democratic National Convention with the part of the song that goes "ch-ch-changes" playing in the background. Vishwanand Shetti from Austin, TX   February 29th, 2008 6:12 pm ET

My roommate and I were in the car when "Suddenly I see" by KT Tunstall came on the radio. We both agreed it would serve Hillary well, not enough to get us to vote for her, but help us bare listening to her desperate voice...a voice not accurately representing the desperation of Americans at the moment...so the song would be moving, although misleading.

Mike   February 29th, 2008 6:12 pm ET

For John McCain – "Hardcore Troubadour" by Steve Earle

I think on March 4th Hillary Clinton should play ANOTHER ONE BITE'S THE DUST

After that she should get her handbag, pack up and leave!!!

The Clinton's desperation tactics are the reason she won't win the White House

kelia   February 29th, 2008 6:14 pm ET

I think obama should stick to the song "I GOT CRUSH ON OBAMA" sung by obama girl.Or the song "YES WE CAN" made by Will.i.am. There both popular on "YOUTUBE", he should just run off on that. It's not like people don't know the songs.I'm just 14 years old and even i'm keeping with the race. I really don't think picking a good song, is really going to help them in the long run.

Steve Kichen   February 29th, 2008 6:14 pm ET

Hi Jack, Not for this campaign, but a perfect song for the twice unelected retarded son of former president bush: "White Punks on Dope," by The Tubes.

Keep up the great work!

sk

Brian   February 29th, 2008 6:14 pm ET

McCain's theme song should be "Same as it Ever Was" by the Talking Heads.

Vishwanand Shetti from Austin, TX   February 29th, 2008 6:14 pm ET

My roommate and I also liked "99 problems" for Obama. Supposedly, it was used in IOWA, but I'm not sure.

Dan Putnam   February 29th, 2008 6:14 pm ET

Please issue a correction. Obama did not lose in NH. He and Clinton each took 12 delegates.

Hillary- "I will survive" by Gloria Gaynor

Ken M.   February 29th, 2008 6:14 pm ET

For Hillary the song is simple. "Got to Give it Up" by Marvin Gaye. It's time for her to concede for the good of the democratic party. Let's get focused on McCain and what's left of the Republican party instead.

Anthony T   February 29th, 2008 6:14 pm ET

Let all the candidates play the US National Anthem. On an instrumental of the sort. I am sure it would sound more relevant to the cause.

Kristen Ingram   February 29th, 2008 6:14 pm ET

Maybe McCain should settle for "Nearer, My God, To Thee."

Heather   February 29th, 2008 6:14 pm ET

This is the easiest question you have ever asked Jack.

The theme from Jaws...any or all the candidates can use it.

For Obama:

eRiC Durham   February 29th, 2008 6:14 pm ET

Barack Obama's theme song should be Tupac Shakur's "Letter to the President." Anyone who knows the song immediately understands the depth of this song in relation to Obama's presidential bid.

Best,

eRiC

Rob   February 29th, 2008 6:14 pm ET

Anything from U2 would be great for Obama. I'm not sure about Hilliary but "You can't touch this" for McCain would be a riot! Maybe literally.

Alan Sammet St. Louis, MO   February 29th, 2008 6:14 pm ET

How about "Hard Act to Follow" by Brother Cane?

Lenore Z.   February 29th, 2008 6:14 pm ET

"The Times They Are A'Changin' ' by Bob Dylan– for Barack Obama.

Danny   February 29th, 2008 6:15 pm ET

Clinton's Theme song should be Led Zeppelin's "Ramble On". It may certainly be the last campaign theme song she plays.

Robert Las Vegas   February 29th, 2008 6:15 pm ET

How about The Star Spangled Banner???

Gentry   February 29th, 2008 6:15 pm ET

John, I think 'Its The End of The World As We Know It' by the group REM would be appropriate for John McCain because one hundred more years in Iraq would be a royal hell for America.

Jared   February 29th, 2008 6:15 pm ET

John McCain should play "Happiness is a Warm Gun" by the Beatles. How befitting.

Linda Crawford   February 29th, 2008 6:15 pm ET

"We got to get out of this place....if its the last thing.." don't exactly remember the total and correct title, but getting out of the GW Bush mess makes it seem appropriate.

Hey how about for Hillary Fleetwood Mac's "Don't Stop Thinking About Tomorrow". That did wonders for me as a 16 year old high school student in 1992 watching Bill, Hillary & Chelsea parading around on stage with confetti pouring from the ceiling. Too bad there isn't a comarable song called "Don't Stop Thinking About Yesterday".

Rick Peterson   February 29th, 2008 6:15 pm ET

McCain should use either Paul McCarthys "Live and Let Die" or Jethro Tull's "too old to rock and roll". Meanwhile Obama should use Queens 'We are the champions"

Nikki in RI   February 29th, 2008 6:15 pm ET

I think that since Barak Obama tells of change that will happen to this country if he's elected, his song should be "The Wind of Change" by the Scorpions.

Roberta Hammonds   February 29th, 2008 6:15 pm ET

I would suggest "Send in the Clowns". I think it was recorded by Joan Baez in the 60's. Do the candidates think we're all idiots and believe everything they say?

Linda McClain   February 29th, 2008 6:15 pm ET

Aretha Franklin's "Think" would be perfect for Hillary Clinton.

The perfect song for Barack Obama? "Magic Man," by Heart.

-Kathy in Florida

Obama should just use his own theme song. "Yes we can" also the song "Come with me" by Mary J.B would be good for him. He is always talking about peace, and its a very inspirational song.

Dick Trouth   February 29th, 2008 6:16 pm ET

Hillary- Don't Fall in Love With a Dreamer

Nick Rogers   February 29th, 2008 6:17 pm ET

Jack,

Signed, Sealed, Delivered is the song Barack has been using for his entire campaign. It is a theme song perhaps suggesting he will represent America. It has nothing to do with winning or losing a particular primary. You're suggestion that he would be unsuccessful in the white house because he played this song after a loss is reaching.

Thanks and I still love you,

Nick

Bronwen   February 29th, 2008 6:17 pm ET

"Can't Tell Me Nothin'" by Kanye West seems like the ideal song for Hillary's campaign because she always seems to be saying "Wait 'til I get my money right..."

Larry from South Carolina   February 29th, 2008 6:17 pm ET

John Mc Cain's theme should be "War Pigs" by Black Sabbath.

Hillary Clinton's should be "Same Old Song & Dance" by Aerosmith.

Barrack Obama's should be "Changes" by David Bowie.

John Tampa, FL   February 29th, 2008 6:17 pm ET

Jack – The answer is simple, after 8 years of the Bush Administration, the perfect song for any of the candidates would be the Beatles "It's Getting Better All The Time," because like it states in the song, it can't get any worse!

Ariel   February 29th, 2008 6:17 pm ET

"Fighter" – Christina Aguilera for Hillary Clinton's campaign.

Ariel
Milwaukee, WI

Rich Clawson   February 29th, 2008 6:17 pm ET

Jack,

I think it's only appropriate that John Mc Cain uses AC/DC's Highway to Hell. I think that's where his bus was headed before it went in the ditch.

Rich

Ben   February 29th, 2008 6:17 pm ET

For Mike Huckabee,

Don't Forget about Me, by Cathy Griffith

Rick Parendes   February 29th, 2008 6:18 pm ET

Sen. McCain's theme song shoukld be "Blowin' in the Wind"

John Lassiter   February 29th, 2008 6:18 pm ET

Clinton: Yakety-yak (don't talk back)
McCain: Love the one you're with (CSNY)

Richard   February 29th, 2008 6:18 pm ET

For Hillary Clinton:

Helen Reddy's song: "I am Woman". Not all of the lyrics apply but many of them work for her..... "hear me roar" is the best one.

steve   February 29th, 2008 6:18 pm ET

campaign song for Ralph Nader: "Born to Lose"

Mike from Virginia   February 29th, 2008 6:18 pm ET

Well let's see. Barack Obama should have Walk A Mile In My Shoes, because that would bring him closer to the people he hopes to get. Hillary Clinton should have Hooked on a Feeling, and Mccain should be Somewhere Over the Rainbow.

Samantha in State College, PA   February 29th, 2008 6:18 pm ET

As tight and intense as the Democratic race is currently, with the upcoming Tuesday being a crucial part of winning the Democratic nomination, there is no tune other than "Under Pressure" by David Bowie for Barack and Hilary to sweat their ideals to.

Justyn   February 29th, 2008 6:18 pm ET

Hey Jack, a good them song for Hilary would be the, "Adams' Family"them song. A good them song for Obama would be, "Moving On Up" and a good them song for ol' John would be from the good old "Looney Tunes" that we all grew up watching.

Sherry   February 29th, 2008 6:18 pm ET

Jack, I have the perfect song for John McCain. How about "Stuck In The MIddle With You"? You know...."clowns to the left of me, jokers to the right, here I am stuck in the middle with you..."

chris, denver   February 29th, 2008 6:18 pm ET

I'm not sure what any of the current candidates should choose as their campaign song. For the last seven years, however, I haven't been able to get "Road to Nowhere" by the Talking Heads out of my head.

miriam   February 29th, 2008 6:18 pm ET

I think you are insulting the voter's intelligence by making us judge the 3 potential presidential nominees based on how good each one of them will be in choosing their campaign song? Don't you have other issues to raise which are more relevant to the call of time?
Miriam, CA

thomas feraios   February 29th, 2008 6:18 pm ET

Dave
Richmond, Va.

Rick   February 29th, 2008 6:18 pm ET

Jack – I've got a great song for the Obama campaign. 'Touch a Hand (Make a friend)' by the Staple Singers. Great lyrics and it fits his message of 'change'.

J. Flanagan   February 29th, 2008 6:18 pm ET

The Clinton campaign needs a theme song not to energize or motivate her supporters, but rather, one that invigorates Hillary herself...perhaps Nancy Sinatra's "These Boots were made for Walking,"?

Meri Lane   February 29th, 2008 6:18 pm ET

From Oakland, CA:
For Barack Obama: "Jesus Christ Superstar"'
For Hillary Clinton: "She Works Hard for the Money" by Donna Summer
For John McCain: "Rock the Casbah"' by the Clash

For Mike Huckabee: Son a of A Preacher Man, Dusty Springfield.

For John McCain: I Want You, the Beatles

Theme song for Barack Obama..."The long and winding road".

For Sen. Clinton...."Proud to be an American".

For Sen. McCain..."So long its's been good to know you".

Tony from Ohio   February 29th, 2008 6:18 pm ET

Jack, the candidates should play Billy Joel's "We Didn't Start the Fire." With the mess George W. Bush started, all the candidates should be trying to distance themselves. Problem is, McCain and Clinton voted for the war. And does Obama really wanted to be affiliated with Chubby Checker, Psycho, or Belgians in the Congo?

kari berele   February 29th, 2008 6:19 pm ET

Obama should use "Anything You Can Do" from Annie Get Your Gun. In fact, he and Hillary should go on tour together; then they could banter back and forth and it would be more entertaining than a 21st debate.

Kari Berele
Lakeland FL

Wesley   February 29th, 2008 6:19 pm ET

I think all the candidates should play "It Was Just My Imagination" by the Temptations because anyone who thinks that one these candidates is going to single handedly fix all the foul ups by George W. Bush is just imagining things.

David F Otsego MI   February 29th, 2008 6:19 pm ET

Hillary Rodham Clinton – "AIN'T NO MOUNTAIN HIGH ENOUGH" (Diana Ross)
Mike Huckabee – "NEVER CAN SAY GOODBYE" (Gloria Gaynor)
John McCain – "IF" (by Whitesnake)

Louie Lazar   February 29th, 2008 6:19 pm ET

A good campaign song for ALL the politicians is....
"Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap" by ACDC

George Katsiris   February 29th, 2008 6:19 pm ET

John Lennon – Imagine – Barack Obama
John Lennon – Instant Karma – Hillary Clinton
John Lennon- Give Peace a Chance- John McCain

Peter L.   February 29th, 2008 6:19 pm ET

I turned to Chuck Berry for inspiration. How about "You Can't Catch Me" for Barack Obama, and for John McCain, "No Particular Place to Go"?

Margaret Spencer - Los Angeles-Theme Songs   February 29th, 2008 6:19 pm ET

Think of Elvis and......

For John McCain: "All Shook Up"

Hillary Clinton: "Don't Cry Daddy"

Barack Obama : "If I Can Dream"

Marilyn Townsend   February 29th, 2008 6:19 pm ET

Dr. Ron Paul – Take Back America, by Willie Nelson

John, Virginia   February 29th, 2008 6:19 pm ET

Barack Obama should definitely adopt "The Times They Are A-Changin" by Bob Dylan because he represents the end of the old establishment and the beginning of a new approach to politics.

Joe from Iowa   February 29th, 2008 6:19 pm ET

for Hillary Clinton

Europe's "The Final Countdown"

William Cooke   February 29th, 2008 6:19 pm ET

Send in the clowns is the only song that fits. Especially if hillary or McCain wins. Not much better even if Obama win.

Onari   February 29th, 2008 6:19 pm ET

Obama should play "One Love" by Bob Marley

"... one love, one heart, lets get together and feel alright"

The song reflects Obamamania euphoria in his campaign

Onari
Atlanta, Georgia

Tony   February 29th, 2008 6:19 pm ET

Jack,
I suggest Peggy Lee's "Is That All There Is" for both Hillary and McCain. As a native upstate New Yorker, I know that Hillary won't come through on her promise to Ohio and Texas that she will bring in more jobs. That is why I now live in Colorado.
Tony

carol donahue   February 29th, 2008 6:19 pm ET

I AM WOMAN HEAR ME ROAR IN NUMBERS TO BIG TO EGNOR....GO HILLARY

steve richert   February 29th, 2008 6:19 pm ET

obama theme song should be:
WAITING FOR THE WORLD TO CHANGE sung by John Mayer

Jim McNamara   February 29th, 2008 6:19 pm ET

Jack,
I think Barak Obama should use Pink Floyd's song "Money" as his campaign theme song. He done a great job garnering donations for his campaign...and he is preaching "change" isn't he?

Jim M.
Hopwell Junction NY

brian from nc   February 29th, 2008 6:19 pm ET

Barack obama... Aretha franklins respect
Hillary clinton...rolling stones can't get no satisfaction
McCain... Taps
Is huckabee still in it?

Eric Gassiott   February 29th, 2008 6:19 pm ET

For Huckabee, "My Way"

Chris   February 29th, 2008 6:20 pm ET

You know Jack, a good song for Hillary Clinton is "Don't Stop" by Fleetwood Mack. Even though her husband used it in 92 and 96

Kirsten   February 29th, 2008 6:20 pm ET

I would go with the following in no particular order:

McCain: Jethro Tull's song with the refrain "You're never too old to rock & roll if you're too young to die"
Huckabee: Onward Christian Soldiers
Clinton: It's My Party (And I'll Cry if I Want To}
Obama: Jimi Hendrix' Are You Experienced?

But then, that's just me....

william glover   February 29th, 2008 6:20 pm ET

i am from seattle ,wa

obama- song should be "Marvin Gaye- What's Going On "

Larry Bowser   February 29th, 2008 6:20 pm ET

Jack, How about "Good Night Irene"?
This should work for all three candidates.
Larry

Jian   February 29th, 2008 6:20 pm ET

jian from new jersey

either, yes we can, or i got a crush on obama, all my favorites!!

Billie   February 29th, 2008 6:20 pm ET

I think a good theme song would be "Beautiful Day" by U2.

Why?

1.) It's a positive and very optimistic song
2.) It's clean
3.) It's light and catchy
4.) It is sung by a popular and non-controversial band
5.) There isn't any room for misinterpretation in the song lyrics

The song should posses the same attributes as the candidate has (or at least as the candidate would like to make us think they have).

ryan lewis   February 29th, 2008 6:20 pm ET

I think the Obama campaign should adopt Curtis Mayfield's classic "Move on Up" as their campaign theme as it is a perfect compliment to the Senator's inspiring movement for a brighter tomorrow.

Ryan
Athens, GA

Christi   February 29th, 2008 6:20 pm ET

John McCain- Fly me to the moon... he is soooo out of touch with the issues of the day

Barack Obama- I'm too sexy...........just look at him and listen to the rythm of his voice, seriously though proabably Magic by the cars. I never thought the American voters would swoon over a minority in my lifetime. I love it the country has a chance to be unified

Hillary Clinton...........It's five o'clock somewhere...look at her, the campaign has taken a toll, she's desperate and she needs a drink or "little willie" she just wants barack to go home because she thinks it's it's her "turn" to be president

Pat Tribbey   February 29th, 2008 6:20 pm ET

John Mc Cain's song should be "Barbra Ann", he modified the song when asked what he would like to do about Iran.

John Steiner   February 29th, 2008 6:20 pm ET

The best possible song for this election is "Let The Day Begin" by a group called The Call. But there's only one candidate for whom this should be the theme for, the one who made us beileve again, and that's without a doubt Barack Obama!

John
Taylorsville, UT

dem08   February 29th, 2008 6:20 pm ET

Hillary's campaign song should be THE BEST BY TINA TURNER

HILLARY IS THE BEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

GO HILLARY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WE ARE WITH YOU ALL THE WAY!!!!!!!!!!

Jack from Texas   February 29th, 2008 6:20 pm ET

Hey Jack,
What if we all play them a song? I'm thinking "Hit the Road Jack". I am so sick of the adds, the phone calls at all hours, the mailbox being filled with campaign mailers, and the bickering over non issues that I could scream.

Brandon   February 29th, 2008 6:20 pm ET

Obama- All Star by Smashmouth
McCain- Gansters Paradise – Coolio
Hillary- Na Na Hey Hey by the Supremes

Monika Svay   February 29th, 2008 6:21 pm ET

Hmm ... Maybe ONE MOMENT IN TIME, by whitney Houston. For Barac Obama Campaign Song... I think this song is a fabulous choice because its that moment in time, and in history that Obama, will be The United States next President...

Paul Stinson, Johannesburg, South Africa   February 29th, 2008 6:21 pm ET

Dear Jack,

If after Tuesday, Senator Obama is still ahead by triple digits in the pledged delegates department and if we make the leap of faith that Governor Huckabee is at least 600 delegates behind, here's my playlist:

Mike Huckabee
Daydream Believer -The Monkees, for his eternal
optimism and evolving campaign

Mike Gravel
Who Are You? -The Who
He still hasn't officially suspended his campaign

John McCain
In The Navy -Village People

Barack Obama
See a Little Light -Bob Mould or
Ain't No Mountain High Enough -Marvin Gaye

Hillary Clinton
Give it Up -KC and the Sunshine Band

Keep up the good work and many thanks,

Paul Stinson
Johannesburg, South Africa

Margaret VanPatten   February 29th, 2008 6:21 pm ET

Obama should definitely use the song created for him by will i. am., yes we can. It's a wonderful and influential song, plus I doubt he would get introuble for using that song.

Bharat from New Jersey   February 29th, 2008 6:21 pm ET

Jack, "Time to say goodbye" by Andrea Bocelli fits the right theme for the Hillary Clinton's soon-to-be-ending campaign.

Joe Briggs   February 29th, 2008 6:21 pm ET

For Hillary, I would have to pick the Nancy Sinatra hit, "These Boots Are Made For Walking". Maybe if she added in a dance step she could win the youth vote!

tntaylor   February 29th, 2008 6:21 pm ET

The chorus of the Thompson Twins' "You Take Me Up" works for Obama's supporters ("You take me up to a higher ground ... You take me up so high now I never want to come back down").

The rest of the song seems geared more toward Clinton ("It just makes me weep when I try how I try" and "I'm moving in circles ... Don't get very far").

Firewmn   February 29th, 2008 6:21 pm ET

Barack Obama will do good with: – (I Hear the Earth Move under my Feet- Carol King)

Hillary is a (Hallaback Girl – by Gwen Steffani- (B-A-N-A-N-A's)

MacCain – (Michael Jackson- THRILLER) (somthin he ain't)

Huckelbee is: (Three Dogs night- ONE-– is the lonest number

Ron Martin (Paintsville, Ky)   February 29th, 2008 6:21 pm ET

Maybe the candidates should pick songs for each other. Clinton's song for Obama would be "Somewhere over the rainbow", Obama's song
for Clinton would be "Barracuda", McCain's song for both Clinton and Obama would be "Feelin' single, seein' double (and for Bill Clinton would be Here, there and everywhere), and their song for him would be
the theme song from M.A.S.H. And for Huckabee? I am a rock, I am an Island !

Beth from New Jersey   February 29th, 2008 6:21 pm ET

When I listened to Obama's speech on Feb 12th, the song that came into my mind was "Time Has Come Today" by the Chambers Brothers.

Jorian   February 29th, 2008 6:21 pm ET

I think Hillary Clinton should play Waiting on the World to Change by John Mayer. I believe it would set and example about the soul purpose of here campaign.

Jorian (D)

kenhodgson   February 29th, 2008 6:21 pm ET

I think Hillary should have "Yellow Submarine" by The Beatles because it is a feel-good song and who hates The Beatles?

Charlie   February 29th, 2008 6:21 pm ET

Barack Obama's theme song should definitely be Peter, Paul, & Mary's "The Times They Are a Changing," which they sang at the March on Washington in 1963.

Charlie
Key West

Michael Hanny, Chicago, IL   February 29th, 2008 6:21 pm ET

Jack, although I have several song suggestions for Barack Obama, I was e-mailed a video from a friend, which has a song entitled "Change", which was written and performed by the Gospel singer John P. Kee. You ought to check it out; it is a good song, and has all of the slogans Obama uses such as "Time for Change", and ""Yes We Can". It may be better than trying to fit a song to a candidate (especially with copyright laws playing a part). –If you want me to e-mail the song to you, please give me an address to do so.

Sissy   February 29th, 2008 6:21 pm ET

For Hillary Clinton her motivating theme song should be "Ain't No Stopping Us Now" by McFadden and Whitehead

gary hyman   February 29th, 2008 6:22 pm ET

I BELIEVE THAT THE SONG :THIS LAND IS YOUR LAND:
WOULD BE GREAT FOR BARACK OBAMA. HES THE TICKET FOR ME.

I think Barack Obama should use The All-American Rejects lyrics – The Future Has Arrived
I think it's an awesome song that promotes the Obama message!

Justin
Orlando, FL

Chris Malone   February 29th, 2008 6:22 pm ET

Here's one that Hillery really needs desperately – "Wishing and Hoping" by Dusty Springfield

Fred   February 29th, 2008 6:22 pm ET

I Think the theme song for Hillary should be Sweet Child Of mine by Guns'n'Roses! Cause that song and band is AMERICAN!!!! I'm only thriteen and I Believe Hillary will keep me and all americans safe.
