If I were McCain I wouldn't use either Bush. He will be counting on independent voters to overcome the negatives that the Republican Party has generated ove the last decade plus years and especially from the last 8 years of this miserable administration. As far as my vote goes, when Bush 2 and now Bush 1 stepped up to extoll McCain's conservative credentials and virtues, they insurred it will not be for McCain who now comes across as just another dishonest politico.

If it were my campaign, I wouldn't even acknowledge that I knew President Bush. Sen McCain probably should only use reference to President Bush on positive issues.............................which will greatly reduce McCain's need to use President Bush at all.

I thought he wanted to be elected? Bush's approval rating is in the 30's and you want him to go out and stump for you? Not a good move. But McCain is a rude, wore out old man who needs to be sitting on the front porch watching the sunrises and sunsets with Cindy and leave this high stress job to a much younger man.

Don't even use Bush at all. But knowing John McCain, he would probably use George W. Bush and he will immediately lose the election. Because everybody hates George W. Bush not just in this country, but the entire world hates George W. Bush as well. I would love for Obama to win and for McCain to lose. Baby Boomers had their chance and screwed up royal, it's time for my generation to clean up after the Baby Boomers and maybe save this country as well as the world from Bush's foreign policy of aggression against countries that we disagree with.

I hope he uses both Bushes a lot. The entire Bush family, in fact. Then, after the election, they could all go for a vacation with their Royal "friends" in Saudi Arabia.

McCain should probably let Bush work in the background. With Bush's experience winning national elections by handfuls of votes, he could help McCain in Florida and Ohio, and maybe use Karl Rove for some whisper campaigns against the Democratic nominee.

Endorsements are no more than a nice photo op. Thank God most voters are smart enough to think for themselves and not be swayed by endorsements despite the fact the politicians seem think we're all sheep and blindly follow the celebrity of the moment. (Look how much Ted helped Hillary in his home state). McCain stakes his reputation on being his own man. He needs to continue to do so, despite the fact he has his hands full with Huckabee in Texas.

I think they should be joined at the hip at all times. Let people know how in lock-step they are. Maybe if they are thoroughly trounced in November, the old time supply siders will lose their stranglehold on the party. The Laffer curve is still stupid, no matter how they package it. President Bush support for McCain will definitely solidify him as a true conservative, and it will eradicate every doubt other Republications have of him as a liberal conservative. At the same time, Bush support for McCain is similar to tighten a noose around his and the Republicans neck which will cost them the general election in November. You have to remember Jack that most Americans are not in favor of the Bushes.

I don't see where the accomplishments of either Bush would be an asset to McCain's campaign. Not that it really matters. In my opinion, based on the achievements or lack thereof of the current Bush administration, I think McCain is a throwaway. In reality, Iraq and the current state of the economy is most likely to ensure that a Democrat will be elected.

The most that the Republicans can hope for is that Obama will be elected. His inexperience will probably ensure that his four years in office will be a catastrophic failure and ,as a result, sweep the Republicans back into power in 2012.

I'm sure an injection of Bush into his campaign will attract all those independents from Obama's side. Yes, that was sarcasm.

John McCain, from all outward appearances has sold out his principles to become President. However, UNLIKE any U.S. President in most voter's memory he knows the true meaning of sacrifice. Jack if I was him and felt like I needed support from a Bush to help get the religious right's support, I would pick senior over Jr. If he picked junior and goes on the campaign trail saying that he is in favor of the war in Iraq and would keep troops there for years to come, he might put smiles on the religious right's faces but he also would lose an election. It would look like a clone of Jr. running for reelection . If he wants to be setting in the oval office next year using junior support on the campaign trail is not the way to go.

Does it really matter? McCain has alligned himself with Bush in almost every failed policy over the last seven years. Weather or not Lord Bush joins McCain on the campaign trail is inconsequential. Americans are smart enough to know where McCain stands and it's usually right next to Bush. You only have to look at the voter turnout between the two parties to see that. Bush might be popular with the GOP base but they aren't the majority anymore. A new day is dawning and McCain is a relic.

I have great admiration for McCain's contribution to his country, but his views are hard to understand with all the flipfloping he's managed to do. Considering the current president's low approval rating, not very much. If I were running for president on the GOP ticket I would probably not mention him at all. Who is this "base" anyway? Do they not watch the news or read books like" It's Getting Ugly Out There" ? Bush 43 is guilty of more violations of the Constitution and more misuse of power than any president in history. Not what you might call a role model.

The people who support GWB are the same staunch conservatives who will vote for McCain no matter what. At worst a few of them might stay at home or vote for a 3rd party on Nov. 4th (though I seriously doubt they'd risk a Democrat in the White House by doing that.) Like nearly all recent elections the battle will be fought and won among the moderates and independents, many of whom have a bitter taste in their mouth from the lies, secrets, mistakes and wrongdoings of Bush 43. If McCain has ANY desire to win the general election he must keep at least an arm's distance from George W. The Democratic primaries show that the Democratic Party is in full-swing with record turnouts in nearly every state. In order to win, McCain needs independent voters to help him. Campaigning with George W. Bush will all but destroy his chances from getting those independent voters, thus ending his presidential hopes. Since the nomination is almost a done deal, and the party's "base" (read radical right wing) did little to help him get there (and in fact actively worked against him), McCain doesn't need to use Bush. In fact, he should distance himself as far as possible from this horrible, unpopular president. As a Democrat and an Obama supporter, I would say McCain should happily accept Bush's endorsement. And he should adopt all of Bush's policies as his own. And pledge to keep up the good work that Bush has been doing. That would really destroy his chances in the general election. Therefore, in short, if you are someone who wants McCain to win, you should hope that he keeps Bush as far away from his campaign as humanly possible.

If McCain is smart he will only use President Bush in the shadows to raise money for his campaign; any appearances side-by-side would only tie McCain to Bush's unpopular policies and ideals.

Senator McCain should use President Bush often in his campaign as he does still have a high rating within the Republican Party loyalist. There is a risk of alienating the independent and moderate Republicans but this is a new election and a new administration. After all, the U.S. Congress which includes these Senators running for the White House do have a lower ranking/rating than President Bush. So, there really not much to loose using the President in fact he may pick up some points.

He can make either Bush visible in his campaign at his peril. Both are losers, but we found out about the first one sooner; the second one miraculously got another chance to make our country worse. McCain needs to make a big break from the Bush family and chart his own course or he'll be another also-ran in American history.

I think a lot. W. Bush is a true Compassionate Conservative. I believe this will appease the Republican's conservatives as well as the entire party.

I hope and pray that McCain drags GW around like a show pony and lets him expound upon all the success in Iraq......never mind that Iraqi body parts continue to fly on the evening news. It amazes me what this administration has gotten away with..............sure, go ahead and run GW for a third term with McCain and you'll see the largest democratic landslide in US history.

This is kind of a joke, but since I'm not voting Republican anyway, I think Bush should appear in McCain's campaign as much as possible so he would NOT win the presidency. McCain is completely wrong for the next presidency. Choosing him is like choosing a Bush Jr to run again and dig an even bigger hole for this nation. If he does happen to become the next leader for the United States, then I will declare my complete lost of faith in the American political system.

Senator McCain should employ President Bush in the task of ensuring the top tier of American industry as well as evangelical conservatives that Sen. McCain will continue to work for them. When it comes to media events targeted at mainstream republicans and independents Sen. McCain would do well to distance himself from President Bush as much as possible.

He could spearhead McCain's efforts to garner support in Africa, as the President appears to be popular there.

Oh, he should definitely go for it! Given the American public's sophistication–i.e., let's elect a president because we'd like to sit down and have a beer with him–I'm sure it would work in McCain's favor. As far as I'm concerned, he's as likely to sell himself out in order to garner power as Hillary Clinton. The only candidate I trust is Barack Obama.

President G.W. Bush is one of the best fundraiser in the United States. If McCain is looking to raise money, send the President out to raise funds for him. But if we learned anything from this election cycle money DOESN'T matter and if McCain wants to maintain his popularity with the independents, he will stay away from the President and his "stay the course" messaging.

McCain needs to stay clear. Bush senior's endorsement was enough. This country is clearly demanding change based on the interest the democratic party is stiring up among independants and moderates. If he wants any chance of winning this election, he needs to show "respectful" separation.

It's every Democrat's dream... pictures of Bush and McCain all lovey-dovey. The more they appear together the more people will equate the two. 70 percent of America is sick of Bush and all his shenanigans, lies, and BS. Bush is an albatros that, if McCain allows him, will drag him down under the water never to be seen again.

It would be unwise for McCain to use President Bush in regions where the Independent vote will be a large factor but he can probably still dupe a few people within the conservative base with his help along with helping with voter turnout in states such as Virginia in the general election, where the democrats may somehow pull out a win.

This may be the moment Mike Huckabee has been waiting for. With people feeling the way they do about the Bush duo, McCain may just fall headlong and unite the base Huckabee has been after.

McCain will need to walk a tightrope. He needs both the base (Bush) and Independants. Without both groups, he won't win. He is old and not as appealing in his speeches and plus entre' is flat so he is really up against it. We also know of many Reps who didn't like his ridiculing of Romney. Regardless of how much McCain disliked/s him, his behavior is sticking and he's lost many Rep's out here because of it. McCain of all candidates should know better!

McCain wanting help from Bush II is a very cynical attempt to enlist his help at fund raising. He can't possibly want any part of his abysmal approval rating. Who would really want to be associated with what most Americans consider to be the worst president in U.S. history. Anyways, I thought he was going to run his campaign only on public funding. That's his challenge to Obama. Why would he even need money from Bush's big oil buddies?

I strongly encourage McCain to take deploy Bush #1 & #2 on the campaign trail and appear with them whenever and wherever possible. That would guarantee a win for the Democrats, whoever the candidate might be.

Since the last thing I want in the White House is another Republican, I think McCain should include Bush in all his campaigns. In fact, I hope McCain goes on the air kissing Bush on the lips! After Sen. Craig's incident, I don't think this is too far-fetched a thought...

If John McCain wants a chance in November, he should keep George W. Bush far away. In national politics, Bush is practically radioactive now. This is very different from Al Gore snubbing Bill Clinton in 2000. Al Gore snubbed a president with an outgoing approval rating which exceeded 60%, twice that of George W. Bush. But either way, everyone will realize that McCain is the perfect heir to the Bush monarchy.

McCain should use President Bush as much as he can. Anything to ensure a Democratic win in November. By the way, where are the ethnic diversities in the Republican ticket, as far as endorsees, let alone the original candidates.

I really feel that Sen. McCain should dig into the 2000 election year archives to refresh his memory on the "glowing" comments made about him by the Rove/Bush machine. After reviewing those comments I doubt McCain would be feeling warm and fuzzy about hanging out with 'W' on the campaign trail.

Bush is a liability to McCain period. No matter how you analyze it, fund raiser, campaigner it is bad news for McCain with this guy. Yikes!

McCain must walk a thin line, a line so thin even the most agile acrobat would have trouble. Bush's support will probably bring a few conservatives on board but it will definitely alienate McCain's independent support. However, if he turns away Bush's support he loses his republican base. This point is this is a lose lose decision for McCain and a win win opportunity for the democratic presidential candidate.

They deserve each other. It is time for a change, and I think that our best bet is Clinton – experience versus expectations. We know what we will get with Hillary, we can only hope for the best with Barrack.

No way, this could only be bad for McCain, but I am glad it is happening. Those who voted for Bush and would vote for him again will also vote for McCain simply for the sake of conservatism. McCain is going to lose the last inkling of Independent support by siding with Bush on as many issues as he has lately. Bush's low approval is not only due to the horrendous debacle that is Iraq, but his destruction of our economy and politics through a divisive and manipulative rhetoric that never manifests into anything good for the general public, but the elite few and manages to divide the rest of along irrelevant lines. Look at where we are now compared to eight years ago. Eight years ago you could not sell the general public, including many of those to the left, on issues like energy reform, and health care reform, let alone having a black man and a woman as viable presidential candidates. These are givens now, and debating wether or not they are viable issues is irrelevant, they simply are. Yet the conservative movement still wants to focus on old and tired issues like gay marriage / civil partnerships, stem cell research, abortions, and of course my favorite, lowering taxes. No one following Bush can say they will lower taxes, and it will be impossible at the rate of outlandish spending perpetrated by the Bush administration to maintain the current level of taxes. Sadly, this affects all of us now, not just the richest few that are being pampered with tax cuts. The Bush administration financed his policy on the dime of the young who vehemently opposes a strong majority of that policy.

Since Democrats are already linking McCain with Bush, and will likely continue to do so, I doubt that getting the president involved will significantly weaken McCain's campaign. Bush is a savvy politician and will likely use the opportunity to point out that McCain's differences with him are a plus. These differences show that he is an independent thinker, the president can say, which has always been McCain's appeal to independent and moderate voters.

President Bush is the ultimate catch 22 for John McCain's campaign. If McCain chooses to use him, he can pick up some much needed conservative support, yet at the same time he will end up drawing rebuke and distaste from some of the moderates and independants that have been responsible for getting him to where he is today. If McCain shuns the support of Bush, he can avoid that, but then he is left with very few ways to draw in the conservative support which would be imperative for him in the election. This brings up the question: Who thought it was such a good idea for McCain to be the Republican nominee, anyway? I am sure that regrets are already awash in the undercurrents of the Republican party.

Jack, the last thing John McCain needs right now is George W. Bush, the destroyer of nations, to back him up. Maybe Bush should back Mike Huckabee or Ron Paul, that way it won't mean much of anything.

McCain has lost his American hero appeals since he stepped up with his veil comments and attitudes toward Mitt Romney. He has alienated his principles at crunch time in order to get the nomination. He will get this nomination, because he fought hard for it since 2000 but he will not be the next president of the usa. He just comes as this angry vicious man who want to impose his will on the American people. The last thing he wanted to do was to sideline with the Bushes brand name. The American are already fed up with the same old same old divisive politics and the Clinton's are learning it the hard way. McCain as well will pay the price.

If Sen. McCain wants to win, he should rent the largest ballrooms he can find and separate them down the center. Then, he should have Pres. Bush's fundraisers on one side, and Sen. McCain's rallies on the other with signs on the "rally" side saying, "Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain!"

Go ahead and use him. Bush has an extremely low approval rating, and deservedly so. But Congress has an even lower approval rating. Since McCain is a current member of Congress (along with Hillary and Obama), using Bush might actually boost McCain's image, although somehow I highly doubt it.

I think that if McCain can be assured by President Bush that stumping for John won’t be about himself and his own record as president, then I think it would be beneficial in some parts of the country. If however he behaves like former President Clinton and spends 75% of his stump speech for Hillary talking about himself, then it would be an awful idea. As for Al Gore making a “mistake” by not using Clinton more in 2000, I think his behavior campaigning for his wife in the past several weeks has vindicated Gore on that particular issue, despite some of the other mistakes Gore did make during that campaign.

Given President's Bush's track record the past eight years on getting the facts straight, I wouldn't be surpirzed if he endorses Hillary.

I think the temptations to overuse President Bush in his campaign are going to be too great but he has to overcome it to succeed. I think if he starts mentioning President Bush twice or thrice in one sentence, it could be a problem. He should try to restrain himself and limit the usage to once per sentence. That should provide his desired requirement and give a clear signal to the population that he will continue along the footsteps of President Bush.

If we could go back in time then my choice for president would be Bill Clinton. Eight years of peace and prosperity. In the nineties I only had to work one job.
