It’s a double-edged sword. Mr. Bush certainly has a great record as a fundraiser, and he may be able to help that way. But I have to think that all those candidates for the Senate, the House, or for Governor, who are distancing themselves from the Bush doctrine in order to survive, will then be forced to distance themselves from McCain.

President Bush’s support of John McCain is like watching a lame duck help a cooked goose try to fly. Most Republican congressional candidates didn’t want Mr. Bush anywhere near their 2006 campaigns. Things certainly aren’t any better now.

I think McCain’s position amongst conservatives is being sorely misrepresented. Most of the primaries in which he has won allow only registered Republicans to vote, and amongst them he’s won over 3 times as many delegates as the best of his rivals. Conservatives love him. It’s the most rabid extreme right wing extremists who demand that the Republican candidate meet their criteria for whom should lead the country. Amongst the sane, McCain is doing great. The people he fails with are people whom no honest patriotic American should be pandering to.

Any support from the likes of George Bush and Dick Cheyney is enough to kill anyone’s hopes of winning the vote of the sane people in this country! Let’s just hope there are more sane people voting in this election than in 2000 and 2004.

Regardless of who gets the nomination for either party, it will be the independents and new, young voters who will tip the scale this November. Bush has become a master in the art of alienation for citizens at home, and our neighbors abroad. If McCain is to use Bush on the campaign trail, then I suggest that Bush begin stumping on Wednesday, November 5th.

McCaine needs to make sure that he downplays Bush’s endorsment because it will only hurt him in the long run. If McCain is serious about his presidential chances he will not publicly acknowledge President Bush’s support. To do so would be committing political suicide considering Bush’s severe popularity slippage. Bush’s support of any republican candidate undermines their parties attempt to retain the White House. Republican candidates have taken great care to distance themselves from his failures. Makes one wonder if Bush is working for the Democratic Party, his support can only have a positive affect for democrats.

I dont think it will have any effect on McCains campaign. It’s just like most other endorsements, they make news for a day and then are forgotten. If bad endorsements really mattered at all, then Bush could have just as easily endorsed the democratic nominee and used his anti-Midas touch on them.

Think about this logically. If the majority of people dislike George Bush, then those same peoples’ opinions of McCain will be negatively affected by Bush’s endorsement. Those who still favor George Bush will have a more positive feeling towards McCain because of the endorsement. Therefore, since the majority of people don’t like President Bush, McCain will be adversely affected overall by Bush’s comments.

President Bush’s support may help getting right wing nuts like Rush Limbaugh’s support, but as far as McCain’s candidacy as a whole, it will really hurt. President Bush has had a sub 50% approval rating longer than any any other president ever! McCain would be a fool to embrace this incredibly unpopular fearmonger of a president.

Does it really matter what George Bush says or who he endorses anymore? After all that he has (and has not) done to this country, doesn anyone really listen to what he says? Thank God he isn’t endorsing any Democratic candidate!

Bush and McCain are two of a kind, except McCain was brave enough to serve his country while Gerorge was served beer and peanuts at the Alabama Air National Guard Country O-Club, when he actually did show up for his weekend drills. I suppose Bush feels he owes his endorsement to his one time opponent, the guy he and Karl Rove dished dirt on to win over the narrow minded South Carolinians in 2000. A vote for McCain is still a vote for a continuation of Bush-Cheney-Rumsfeld and Corporate America’s sell out of the Middle Class. Politics still make for strange bedfellows.

President Bush would not know a “true conservative” if he fell over one. Why would anyone trust anything he says?

I think that president bushes support will help mccain in the fall because of his 30 percent approval rating. By now it is apparent that the only ones still supporting bush are the furthest right of the conservatives, and these are the votes mccain needs to “unite” the republican party.

Jack I hope to see President Bush and Dick standing on each side of McCain you can’t buy that kind of an ad if your a Democrat. Talk about the toilet if they try to help all we will have to do is flush.

I believe that a President Bush to Mccain endorsement will not help John Mccain’s campaign because of the current situation our country is in. Inflation is high and our president does not even have a 33% approval rating. I a failing president endorses a candidate, I do not see it doing much good for John Mccain and his race for the Republican nomination.

John McCain is not going to be hurt or helped by President Bush’s support. McCain will do everything he does on his own merit. The Republicans know its time for a change and the independent voters will not not hold anything against McCain just because of support from someone, even if it is the current US President.

Support from Mr. Bush can only hurt McCain. The main republican base has tired of his leadership, and his approval ratings show it. Likewise, independents are not looking for another Bush, and by accepting support from Mr. Bush, McCain, in their eyes, aligns himself with the current President. Dangerous ground. McCain would be wise to say: “Sir, with all due respect, keep away”

Considering the “conservative” spending that the president proposes in the coming fiscal year (3.1 trillion dollars), I don’t think that the conservatives would take his words seriously even if he were a well-spoken man.

Simple, Jack: it won’t. Conservatives are so fractured right now that for every one person who even cares that Mr. Bush supports McCain, there are two who don’t support McCain and two who don’t support Mr. Bush! I think the more salient question is ‘How will John McCain embrace or ignore President Bush’s support and how might THAT unite or further split the Republican party’s support of McCain?’

Bush’s endorsement will hang like an albatross around McCain’s neck through Election Day. I couldn’t wish a better campaign gift for the Democrats.

If we’re looking for another president who will lead us to an under-planned, under-thought, and poorly executed war; unbalance the budget; trigger recession; remove our constitutionally guaranteed liberties; and have approval ratings that resemble Britney Spear’s parenting ratings… then we should take Bush’s endorsement very seriously. If, however, we are hoping for someone to restore the United States as a world leader; fix the economy; bring peace and safety; and, most importantly, show the world that we are willing to end fear mongering and aggressive tactics worldwide… then we should not turn to Bush to identify that person.

The extent of President Bush’s “endorsement” will lie only in the core conservative base, who is clearly still skeptical as to who the true conservative candidate is. This core group consist of the die-hard Republicans who still believe that Bush has been a good President, and are looking for a Republican candidate to carry on that legacy. As far as I think, Bush’s semi-endorsement of McCain will have no effect on the general public, and is more a joke than anything. John McCain as the “true conservative candidate”?! You have to be kidding me!
